Given how difficult it is to determine who owns what after 50 years, DFDC is now clear about what you can do with this site’s content.
Having tried to bring some of Daniel Fry’s copyright back from the grave, I have come to realize that stating clearly what the copyright is upfront makes for an easier time down the road.
The specific type of Creative Commons license this website subscribes to is a “Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0” which says that you can copy, distribute, make derivative works and yes, make commercial use of the work. If you want to sell PDFs of the site, then go ahead! (albeit with the caveats below)
However, there are somethings on this site that are NOT covered under the CC license:
- The website design – it is a commercial template I bought from John Galt Templates.
- Some of the pictures, for instance, the screen and video clips on the multimedia page and probably these pictures of Tonopah that CosmicGuy took (He has given me permission, but you?).
Good luck and don’t forget the attribution.
