[00:00] Opening remarks and introduction
on this fascinating subject of flying saucers. Becoming more pertinent and more personal now as we are preparing to put one of our own people into outer space. And presumably the Russians have already done it. Though I'm not so sure from the conflicting stories which they released themselves that Mr. Gagarin actually made the trip around. We might get into that in the question and answer period, if you like. Flying saucers and the coming space probes. By the time I put this talk together a couple of years ago, we weren't so near to getting into outer space ourselves. I don't see, however, in the two years that have gone by, that I have to change the material very much. It just seems more pertinent now. And some of the things which we have been told and discovered in the 15 years of the existence of Borderland Sciences Research Associates are now coming true. However, we received our information from what we would call
sources beyond the human race, if you like.
It's a great comfort to us to realize that the source of information which we have had over the years has been comparatively accurate. We'll get into that more as we go along. Saucer era, the flying saucer era, began, of course, with the sighting by Ken Arnold of nine objects going along in a waving pattern in front of Mount Rainier back in June. It was in 1947. And when he told of seeing these unusual appearing objects going along at tremendous speed across the mountain, one of the newspaper reporters compared their flight to that of a saucer skipping across the water, and so we had the term flying saucers in comparatively modern times. But there was a sighting over Benton, Texas, or Denison, Texas, back in the 1840s, I believe, and it was told by the farmer who saw it to the local newspaper and the farmer compared the circular object in the sky to a saucer. So the term is pretty old now, over a hundred years.
Really nothing new about saucers at all. Our awareness of them, of course, is growing. Eventually, the authorities in this country are going to have to face up to their reality. In this week's Life magazine, there is a huge two-page color illustration, an illustration of manned spacecraft performing police work in the space around our planet, designed to go up there and get into orbit with whatever might be orbiting around the planet, board it, if necessary, and destroy it if it seems to be hostile. Now, our tracking equipment has been picking up and recording the existence of satellites around the planet since as far back as 1954. If not earlier, I believe Aviation Week was authority for a release sometime, I think it was in May or June of 1954, that there were two dark moons orbiting around the Earth at 400 and 600 miles. Who put them there? Then there was a sort of a retraction in the next issue of the magazine
to the effect that they were natural objects, and they attributed the natural object statement to Dr. Lundgren, Lincoln-La Paz of the University of New Mexico, and he immediately issued a denial. In fact, he disassociated himself in any way from conjecturing what those moons might be like and who put them there, and that they were either artificial or natural. And then you recall last year, there was a wrong-way satellite going around at a speed of 20,000 miles an hour. Now, it only takes 15,000 or so to get into orbit around the planet, and if you go any faster, the object will fly off into space. So anything that's tracked at 20,000 miles an hour is controlled flight. And such a satellite or spaceship was picked up by our tracking gear last year. And there was no indication from the government as to who or what it was and why it was going the opposite direction from the satellites which we released. So as I say,
when we get manned spacecrafts, ships that can patrol the area around the planet, I believe the reality of the flying saucers will have to be admitted by our government. Why the silence policy? Fear. Fear by the people who have the most to lose if there's a violent change in the culture of our society, the vested interests. We have an excellent illustration of the fear which creates a silence policy at the approach of visitors from elsewhere. In our own approach as aliens to the closed nation of Japan a hundred years ago,
the men who were running Japan in the 1840s weren't interested in having disturbing ideas from outside their nation. They liked things just the way they were. But nevertheless, some of our seamen were being shipwrecked on Japanese shores, and the President of the United States thought we should have a consul there to arrange for their transshipment back to the United States. So if you recall, it was in 1852, I believe, that our first consul was landed at a Japanese seaport, an alien from outer space, or from overseas, it doesn't matter, very coldly received by the governor of the province. And instead of being welcomed and taken up to the capital to be met to meet with the Emperor of Japan, he was made incommunicado for six weeks, given a place to live, but the people weren't, there was no reception for him. And what was going on up in the nation's capital at Edo, the barons who ran the country were fighting among themselves
as to whether or not they should recognize this alien who'd dropped out of their shores from nowhere. If you recall your history, of course, the consul was finally recognized, because the liberal elements in the Japanese government finally, they've, they've got enough votes there to have the man come up to Edo, Townsend Harris, the American consul, and have him present his credentials and recognize him as a visitor from elsewhere. And Japan was opened up, opened up to new ideas. Japan was young enough and vital enough to change, to alter to the radical ideas brought by the Americans and other nations of the West. The $64 question before the United States now, and since the advent of the flying saucers in 1947 is, are we young enough and vital enough to adjust to the radical ideas of visitors from outer space? I think the question is still in doubt, myself, when you consider how we're lagging behind Russia even now, apparently.
Last year, the Federal Space Agency spent $96,000 of our money, paid it to the Brookings Institute to make analysis of the space travel problems and all they might portend. Here's a brief review of the analysis which appeared on the front page of the Los Angeles Times on December 15, 1960. The Federal Space Agency was told Wednesday America should begin figuring out how to meet the psychological impact of a discovery that intelligent beings live on other planets. A research report said such a discovery could bring profound changes or even collapse of civilization as we know it here on Earth. Here's an official report from an agency hired by the government to analyze the situation. This is the very situation which our vested interests faced in 1947 when the sightings first came in. And the reaction to that, those sightings and those reports, was just like vested interests anywhere. Japan or where have you. Let's silence the whole thing down.
Sit on it. Try to keep control of it because things might get out of control. And I believe that very policy established in 1947 and 1948 by people in Washington, D.C. is one of the reasons why we lag behind Russia today in the space race. If there had been an intelligent evaluation of the data and a guarded release of information from official sources that long ago, 14 years, I believe there wouldn't have been any difficulty at all in keeping the space program going and we might actually have had a satellite up in orbit three or four years ago or five years ago. And it wouldn't have been such a great shock to the American people. A hundred years ago we asked Japan to join the community of nations here on the planet. Now the visitors from outer space are asking this Earth to join the community of planets in the solar system. And you know what that means. That means that we have to submerge our national differences
and actually practice the ideal of brotherhood we've been talking about for 2,000 years. And that ain't going to be easy, is it? I'll give an example of the functioning of the silence policy
back in 1948 from one of the books which have been published on this thing. Well, the first news report of the typical kind that was released in 1948, all reports up to date about unknown flying objects in the Earth's atmosphere have been carefully examined. No single clue for the existence of such craft has been found. And at the very time we were being told that, this kind of secret report was going around the Pentagon there in Washington. This one dated April 28, 1948, according to Gavin Gibbons in his book The Coming of the Space Ships. In the atmosphere surrounding the Earth, there are observed from time to time disk-like projectiles that are undoubtedly steered to Earth. They are steered and controlled by an intelligence. The positively determined speeds are comparatively higher than those presently attained with known aircraft. Higher than our current technological knowledge would seem to permit. The values of acceleration are also above the limits considered normal by us.
And so on. Considerable difference, you see, between what was being circulated there in private circles and what we were being given. One of the individuals who apparently was responsible for the silence policy was our first Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal. He did initiate the first space program bill and helped to see that it got started in 1949, I believe. But also, as you recall, Forrestal had been an investment banker from New York City, president of Dillon Reed and Company. He was a member of the reactionary group, or the conservative group, in business circles in New York. So it's not unsurprising that his reaction to the flying saucer phenomenon would be one of silencing it up. As you recall, he even went so far as to get one of the top writers for the Saturday Evening Post, Sidney Shalit, to do two articles, which were published in the Saturday Evening Post, debunking the whole flying saucer thing.
But he knew very well from the reports received that these things were real. Very real. It's possible that he may have had a change of heart, might have been one of the conflicts within him which led to his suicide, if it was genuine. On the other hand, if he was contacted by visitors from outer space, and we have reason to believe that he was, and wanted to give the information out, the other conservatives in the government decided the best thing to do would be to get rid of him before he could talk. That's just a guess on my part. But there are people here in America who believe that he didn't commit suicide. And as a backup for that, let's go back to Japan, when our consul was there in Edo, received by the emperor in 1852. One of the leading barons of the Japanese government, a liberal who wanted to recognize the American, was assassinated the second day that Tom Harris was in the Capitol. The conservatives said,
get him out of the way. He may throw the vote to the American. Well, the very assassination of this great Japanese leader did build up a sentiment which brought recognition, of course. So then, if this is true,
and I'm inclined to believe that it is, the next logical question is, well, why don't the visitors land openly? They obviously have equipment which outperforms ours. Land there in front of the White House, talk to the president, demand time on radio and TV. Dan Fry, the leader of the understanding groups, asked that very question of his outer space contact back in April of 1954. And this is the reply he received. From the practical standpoint, you know as well as we, that if we were to land our craft at the seat of your government or near there, we would immediately be surrounded and taken in charge by those military forces whose duty it is to protect the heads of your government. We would be questioned for hours, perhaps days, before any request we might make would be given consideration. We would be forced to display our superiority in the realm of material science. Once this superiority had been demonstrated,
your military leaders would inevitably adopt the position that it was imperative that their country acquire and protect this advanced scientific knowledge. The attitude of your government, in common with the governments of other advanced nations on your planet today, is that all new knowledge is the property of the state. Any information which your government might acquire concerning us, our craft, or our knowledge would be considered the most vital military secret it had ever possessed. I have shown this information to military officers, and they agreed that's just exactly what would happen. Furthermore, our military leaders would like to make a deal with the visitors to get their equipment, so that instead of being able to put an atom bomb over Moscow in eight hours by a flying bomber, or perhaps eight minutes by an ICBM, they could put it over in Moscow in eight seconds with a flying saucer. I don't think the time difference really matters
a hell of a lot, do you? Now let's go back into history for another example of a government or people making a deal with visitors from elsewhere with superior weapons. 1519, when the Spanish conquistador, Cortes, was approaching the shores of Mexico with his new weapons, old blunderbusses, a handful of men and horses and shining armor, white skins and beards, so that he looked like
[16:39] Main address
one of the fabled gods of the Aztec Empire. He landed at what is now, what is it, Veracruz, I believe, in the state of Tlaxcala, and the Tlaxcalans were very happy to receive this alien from outer space, because they were engaged in a fight for control of the Aztec Empire. And they saw that in these superior weapons they would swing the balance of power in their favor. And they discovered also to their joy that Cortes was perfectly willing to make a deal with them. He didn't have any morals anyhow. So you know what happened. The Tlaxcalans marched on the capital of Mexico City and they took over, but you also know that the Aztec Empire collapsed. The Aztecs were too sure of their position, too sure of their position on the earth. And when the shattering idea, the shattering power of these aliens, only a handful of men, it wasn't the weapons of the Spaniards that wrecked the empire, it was the radical information which they brought,
the ideas which were new, you see. And the Aztecs were too old and too set in their ways to adjust to them, and down they went. So we have no Aztec Empire today. That's one of the things which is pointed out in this news item, this report of the Brookings Institute to the Federal Space Agency. Societies sure of their own place in the universe have disintegrated when confronted by a superior society and others have survived even though changed. And that's what we're faced with right now. Change. And we might go on to another question which comes up so often in the lectures. Have there actually been flying saucer landings? And we say yes. In fact, there's nothing we could do to prevent it. But we received information from one of our associates in April of 1954. Our former director, Meade Lane, received a letter from a man who'd been an associate for about four or five years. He claimed that he had actually been invited up to Edwards Air Force Base
to see some spaceships which had landed there in February. I'll read you a couple of paragraphs from his letter. I have just returned from Muroc. You know, Edwards Air Force Base is in Muroc Dry Lake. I had the distinct feeling that the world had come to an end with fantastic... No, let's see. The report is true, devastatingly true. I made the journey in company with F.A. of the Hearst Papers in Los Angeles, E.N. of the Brookings Institute, Edward Norse, who used to be Truman's financial advisor, and here is the Brookings Institute practically admitting that flying saucers are real. In this report of last year. So apparently one man in the Brookings Institute has known since 1954 that the saucers are real. And Bishop M. of Los Angeles. When we were allowed to enter the restricted section, I had the distinct feeling that the world had come to an end with fantastic realism. For I have never seen so many human beings
in a state of complete collapse and confusion as they realized that their own world had indeed ended with such finality as this. With such finality as to beggar description. The reality of the flying saucers is now and forever removed from the realm of speculation and made a rather painful part of the consciousness of every responsible scientific and political group and members who were invited up there to see these things. He said he saw five different types of flying saucers or spacecraft landed there on the runway being examined by the people who had been invited up. The scientists, the political figures, the religious leaders. And, interestingly enough, this landing seemed to be coincidental with President Eisenhower's visit to Palm Springs. He had a three-week vacation there in the spring of 1954. And this individual who wrote this letter to Meade Lane claimed that President Eisenhower had been flown over there to Edwards Air Force Base
to examine these things himself. And he said in this letter that there would be, undoubtedly, that the President was planning on a statement of some kind to the people of the country. Well, as you know, of course, no authoritative statement of the reality of the visitors ever came from the White House or from President Eisenhower. He was overruled by the conservatives. At one of the Probert seances in April of 1954, Meade Lane was told by one of the members of the inner circle or the controls who worked through Mark Probert, and I'll show you some of their pictures later, that the two main influences which urged the President not to make any statement to the people was the New York banker Barney Baruch and one of the high members of the Roman Catholic hierarchy in Washington, D.C. The only thing that I have found which might tend to prove
that this landing did take place and that the President was over there at Edwards Air Force Base is an item which was in Time magazine for March 1, 1954. Three pages. There was a one-page or two-page article there on the President's vacation. And one Saturday night during that vacation he disappeared for four hours. And the 75 radio, TV, and newspaper men who were there covering the vacation nearly went crazy trying to find out where the President had gone. And they never did. Palm Springs is only about 100 miles, I believe, from Edwards Air Force Base. It isn't a long helicopter ride over. Well, if our government isn't talking about flying saucers or the reality other governments are, if you read Major Kehoe's book on flying saucers, his second one, you'll find an item in there for June 1952 to the effect that some kind of a unusual flying object had crashed on the islands of Spitsbergen in the Arctic Ocean. This thing was actually seen in the skies
by Norwegian Air Force pilots and they followed it down. Crashed. It was guessed then by some newsmen that it might have been an experimental craft developed by the Russians. After sitting on this thing and examining it for three years, there was finally a release of information from Colonel Gernot Darnvile of the Norwegian Air Force. At least we have a news item from the Stuttgarter Tageblatt for September 5, 1955 sent to us by the Dutch UFO guides. It translates like this. The crashing of the Spitsbergen disk was highly important. Although our present scientific knowledge does not yet enable us to solve all riddles, I am confident that these remains from Spitsbergen will prove to be of utmost importance. Some time ago a misunderstanding was caused by saying that the disk was probably of Soviet origin. This we wish to state emphatically. It has not been built in any country on Earth. The materials used in its construction
are completely unknown to all experts having participated in the investigation, and at any rate only to be obtained after physical and chemical processes still unknown to us. And the Colonel went on to say that the information, the data which they had accumulated in their survey would be shared with British and the American governments. But because of our silence policy, our government wouldn't even admit that such information had been received. Then Brazil, January 16, 1958, a UFO appeared over the island of Trinidad in the Atlantic off the coast of Brazil. A Brazilian Navy photographer got five or six excellent photos of this thing as it circled around over the ship at high noon. Easily visible. People on deck. Also, incidentally, and this is one of the giveaways to the nearness of a UFO, all of the electrical apparatus on the ship went dead while this thing was nearby. Radio and electrical equipment. The photos of this UFO were released
by President Kubitschek of Brazil. Now for some of the problems which may face us in space travel. Once we get something out far enough to find out what goes on out there. And to do that I'm going to go back to the Captain Mantell case of January 7, 1948. Some of you, if you're familiar with UFO literature, remember the Mantell case. This great circular spaceship was seen over Kentucky, I think northern Georgia, also on that January afternoon. And certainly seen over the town of Madisonville, Kentucky. And the broken clouds that day, the weather bureau said were between 5 and 7,000 feet and this thing was going through those clouds. So that was the altitude at which it was operating. Making a very leisurely tour of the United States. Moving along at 90 miles an hour or so. The Kentucky deputy sheriffs that saw it, Madisonville, saw it was headed in the general direction of Godman Air Force Base. So they radioed to the base.
The people there in the lookout tower were alerted to be on the watch for this strange circular thing which was at least 300 feet in diameter. And sure enough it showed up. They had it under observation. Visually and through binoculars. And the commander of the base, Colonel Hicks, was called up to the control tower to watch it himself. He had three P-51 Mustangs on the field in flying condition. Unfortunately for Captain Mantell, his was the only plane gassed up and ready to go. So he got the order to go aloft for a closer look. The visitor. He did. Made several fairly close passes at it. And it apparently took evasive action, moved away from him. And according to our best information he is supposed to have said over his radio that he was going in real close and maybe even released a burst of machine gun bullets at it. I believe he was a National Guard pilot and they actually had been on target practice that afternoon.
I don't know. Anyhow he did that and according to the observers on the ground, the one at least that Desmond Leslie got hold of and talked to, the plane just disintegrated. Disappeared before their eyes. I don't know whether Captain Mantell's body did also or not. No word on that. But according to the Air Force release, he was chasing the planet Venus. Which really wasn't a very strong story because according to astronomers, Venus wasn't even above the horizon that day at that time. So Kehoe says. So then they made a second release to give you a choice. Believe anything you like as long as it isn't the truth, you see. That he'd been chasing a Navy Skyhook balloon. I don't know that balloons take evasive action or are 300 feet in diameter and have domes on them and I believe Mantell is supposed to have seen that he said there were people in it. Anyhow, the upshot of the Air Force release was that he, this, whatever he was chasing had gone up to high altitudes
and so he went on up above 20,000 feet and blacked out for lack of oxygen and his plane, he came down and crashed. But now you know when our planes come down from high altitudes they come down pretty well in one piece and they're broken up into pieces as you've seen photographs of wreckage. But the engineer who gave us the information through Desmond Leslie said that the plane was so completely disintegrated that it was gathered up in bushel baskets. Pieces the size of confetti. It was scattered over an area of four miles, four square miles. Now the answer to that apparently is that this spaceship created its own gravity field which from our point of view from our gravity field would be a complete vacuum going from positive to negative if you like. And when Mantell flew his plane into that field his plane just disintegrated because there was no gravity pressure to hold it together. That apparently is what happens to many of these spaceships
which are operating in our skies because we have so many reports of these things disintegrating. Apparently coming down as a burning airplane would come down. And yet when investigators go to the spot where the thing should have crashed they find nothing, not a trace. We might say perhaps that they're made of negative matter. When the pressure is released it just returns to its original state. That's one of the problems which our space scientists are discovering now about objects which we send out into deep space. They even have a term for it. They call it the pumping action of outer space. Because when you get physical objects away from the Earth's atmosphere and away from the Earth's gravity field the surface layer of molecules goes away from the object and doesn't return. So you have this bleeding, constant bleeding going on. It doesn't matter whether it's steel or wood or what. Objects made of organic material, rubber and plastics
disintegrate or disappear even more quickly. In total vacuum. And greases and lubricants have a way of disappearing very rapidly and all of a sudden the bearing surfaces in the moving shafts or bearings in your spaceship are dry and freeze because there's no lubricant. Some real problems traveling in deep space. And as you read the releases, the official releases of space scientists you see that they don't really know for sure what is going to happen. To anyone sent out into deep space. We know from our own contacts that the cosmic radiation in deep space is so tremendous that no human body will survive it. But we were told in 1955 by the head of the inner circle who sometimes comes and talks through Mark Probert a medium there in San Diego said this in November of 1955 to Meade Lane Your government has long ago been told how to build these ships. How to build and propel the disc shaped craft and others. I suppose perhaps some people in our government
have been told that. The information is classified top secret and buried away in some file. But such craft constructed by earth people will not be usable for true space travel. The reason is that your physical organisms, your human bodies will not withstand the conditions of deep space. Particularly the cosmic rays. Which might not be immediately fatal but eventually. Now the etheric people, the visitors travel in space if they so desire but this is possible to them because their bodies are not like yours but made of etheric substance. And this substance is vibrating at rates which does not impede the cosmic rays. Maybe we could put it around another way and say that the bodies of the visitors if you want to call them bodies or say that they have form I don't believe they do in outer space that their bodies are actually made of cosmic rays themselves. So outer space is their normal habitat. Call it the father's house.
Well then in December of 1956 our former director Meade Lane pulled together some of these items which we had received through our contacts and put them together in a brochure. And I'd like to give you the first two or three four of these things. It is true that a few human beings have entered saucers and other aeroforms and have taken short rides in them. But no human being has traveled in a flying saucer to a distance which could be described as beyond gravity or beyond the Earth's magnetic field. No human being has visited the moon or Mars or Venus or any other planet in his normal physical body. If such flights are possible and it may be that some human beings have been taken to other planets but they have been their bodies have been conditioned prior to entering the spaceship. This conditioning consists in time measured dosages of high frequencies produced by small electronic devices. I believe the artist said the effect of the conditioning
was to expand the atomic structure of the body. Make it looser so it wouldn't impede the cosmic rays so much and be shattered by it. True space flight even if achieved by a human being under the protection mentioned will result in amnesia. Total forgetfulness. We were told that as far back as 19 in the late 1940s. Now aerospace medicine is already founded out. We have this choice quote from one of the Air Force doctors Brigadier General Don Flickinger. He was invited to give a lecture on space travel problems to a Congress of Neurological Surgeons in San Francisco November 2, 1958. This is one of the things he told the doctors up there. This item is from the Los Angeles Times by the way. One of the problems facing space scientists is whether human beings can return from orbital or interplanetary flight with their minds intact. There is a possibility that the first man to return from such a trip maybe the second and the third
may be mentally blank and unable to recall his experience. There you have an Air Force doctor saying that is what is ahead of the astronauts or the cosmonauts. He wasn't said they weren't concerned about short rides of three or four days perhaps a trip out around the moon and back to send a man into deep space for 30 days. They apparently know now. I don't know how they got the information unless they read our releases. A man who was out for 30 days and comes back won't really know where he's been or why he went or what he did. There was a quotation from a Russian news item last year about their coming space flights of their astronauts that they I don't believe I have the clipping here but the general tenor of the item was that I believe the way it was said in the Russian news item was that the man riding in the capsule might possibly go crazy during the ride and that they had a duplicate set of controls in there one set could be operated from the ground
and he could be brought down whether he was conscious enough to operate the thing or not which shows that Russian space scientists are also aware of this problem. Now since Gagarin has actually made the trip or apparently made it I think I read in the paper today that they're pretty sure that a man can go up in orbit around at 100, 150 miles and come down and still be normal. Of course he was up there only half an hour and I believe most of us could hold together for that long. But that's really what it is the problem of holding the personality together. Outer space is a hostile environment. We become deprived of sensory stimuli out there.
The first thing that goes of course is night and day. How would you like to face an eternity of nights? It's rather boring, doesn't it? All of the functions of the body which are governed by this alternating cycle of light and dark to which we are born they begin to go haywire themselves. The beard doesn't even know when to grow in outer space. Well we believe that the visitors who have been coming here and inspecting us not too happy about it perhaps don't travel in what we call physical bodies at all. And I suspect that our research is eventually going to take us to the place where we won't be traveling in physical bodies either. I give our scientists credit for that much intelligence at least. Let's see. There's one other thing in here that I should...
This last item in this Brookings Institute report at least in the Times. While the discovery of intelligent life in other parts of the universe is not likely in the immediate future it could nevertheless happen at any time. That's about as close as any official agency could come to admitting that the flying saucers are real. It could happen at any time. Because of course so far our government has denied that there's any evidence that they are real. Well let's have a few slides now. And for a change of pace
my unlicensed projector could come down. Can you see the cord there Judy? To plug it in? Good. I'll show you some pictures of flying saucers. That's another item from the inner circle. We'll work through Mark Colbert's question asked back in 1948. Why do the flying saucers come now? And this is what the control said then. This one identified himself by the name Laozi. Might possibly be the soul of the great Chinese sage. I don't know. Regardless of who said it it's interesting to hear what he said to say. You ask why these saucers are here now in such great numbers. Always when a civilization or culture has reached its height and is destined to collapse the Ethereans have appeared in large numbers. They come to make an examination and a final record for their own knowledge of the status of that civilization. Very much as your scientists do about disappearing tribes and races here on this planet. And it is true also that they have been
alerted and disturbed by your release of atomic energies. But all past civilizations and races have had their day and failed in some way and passed out of Earth history. So with yours the Ethereans came then and made their observations, their records, so they come now. It was 1948 when Laozi said that. At that time perhaps it seemed a little bit far-fetched to me. Now I'm not so sure as I see some of the evidences of decline here in America. The last couple of years some of our leading figures here in the nation have expressed public concern about where America was drifting. Are we so concerned about material comfort that we've forgotten the high ideals for which the nation was founded and which drove our forefathers along at such a great rate a hundred years ago? What are the things that bring a civilization down? Well, on the physical side you have soil exhaustion so that the food grown by the farmers doesn't have the vitality
the energy in it that it had 50 or 75 years ago. And then you have food poisoning. You have to inbound the food now to keep it from spoiling. So we keep getting these minute doses of poison all the time while we're eating. Not too strong, strong enough to kill us as a rule but to turn up such things perhaps as cancer and other difficult diseases. What the effect of all this is is to sort of pull us down, you see, take our spark, our drive away from us. And we have water pollution. Dumping sewage in the streams is getting so bad now that they are really getting concerned about it. Not to mention air pollution. I believe you're familiar with that here in Los Angeles. All of these things from the physical side tending to pull us down, you see, slow us down, make us older, more conservative, less willing to take chances, risks, push forward. And of course we have the conservative leadership kind of thing there which set up the silence policy
in 1948 and 49 in Washington. People who want to hang on to the past. Now, of course, since Gagarin was put up into space last week, you have this public breast beating going on in Washington with the congressman calling Webb and the head of the other space agencies for hearings wanting to know why we're behind. Well, we actually got behind back in the late 1940s. I think the first mistaken decision that was made was when the military people decided to concentrate on guided missiles instead of rockets. And so billions were poured into the development of the guided missiles, Bomarc and Regulus 1, Regulus 2. And the Reg program was shot down in 1959 when I was working at Point Mugu, the Naval Missile Center. It was realized then, of course, that guided missiles were out of date. We should have started in on rockets back in the 1940s, after World War II. Well, we had a very active rocket program going on there at Huntsville
under the Army's control. They brought the German scientists over, including von Braun, Dr. Hermann Obereth, and others. And the Army was headed well on the way toward getting a satellite into orbit, launched. That's as early as 1955 or 1956, long before the Russians were ready to. But the Army's program was shot down by some vicious infighting among the services in Washington. They were actually ordered to stop doing what they were doing. It wasn't the Army's domain to go into outer space. It was the Air Force's prerogative. Actually, we're all to blame for the position we're in today as regards Russia. The Republican writers in the L.A. Times and other papers blame President Truman for having sabotaged the missile program. And I agree that he did. He did veto some of the bills which appropriated money for the development of missiles and the space program. But then when you people voted Eisenhower in 1952, he was under no obligation
to continue Truman's program, was he? He didn't do any more really than Truman had as far as getting out first in outer space. After all, it's not surprising because he represented the conservative element in the government. And he continued the silence policy which had been instituted in Truman's program. And when Eisenhower was re-elected in 1956 by a tremendous, overwhelming popular vote, you in effect reaffirmed the silence policy which the government had on flying saucers because you okayed what he'd been doing. And apparently at that time, he knew they were real if he actually witnessed that landing at Edwards in 1954. So as I say, we're all to blame right now, I think, of why we're behind. And I still think it's a, I'm not sure that we'll ever catch up. Judging from what I've seen in the papers in the last couple of days, I think Time Magazine this week spoke of the limp reaction in Congress to the Russian feat of getting a man up there.
Things going along as usual. Are we willing to pay the price to keep up with Russia? That still has to be decided, doesn't it? It's going to cost money. It's going to cost money. So you come to one of the things, I suppose, one of the obvious reasons why civilizations go down or why they fail. They get old and tired. They don't want to pay the bills for progress. One of the evidences of that is when you get to where you don't feel like paying the bill for education, which is certainly one of the problems here in America, has been for several years now. And I think you will agree with me that when one generation of children gets a poorer education than its parents had, then your nation begins to go down. Because if you're going to have progress, that's where it is. And each succeeding generation should be able to overreach its parents in all things. You have experts like Dr. Joseph Kaplan of UCLA saying this a few years ago,
Today, the man or woman who knows nothing about science cannot vote intelligently, which means that the democratic process will eventually break down. Back in Honolulu in 1957, before Mrs. Crabb and I came to the mainland, we had a visit from Dr. Edward T. McSwain, Dean of School of Education at Northwestern University. He gave a lecture to the Lions Club there in Waikiki. And this is one thing that he told them. Education is no longer a matter of personal concern. It is a matter of national survival. And I could go on quoting people in and out of the field of education. I've got pages of material here, but why go over it? We've got to do something about it. Whether we will do enough is still a moot question. Whether we will do enough. Waning leadership. A couple of more items. About four years ago, there in Texas, the owner and manager of an electronics firm was curious to know how many potential engineers were being developed
by the high schools around his plant. And there were five in the general area. He assumed, of course, that they had physics classes and that ambitious young men were studying physics, aiming toward engineer and science degrees. He visited all five of those high schools and was flabbergasted to discover that no physics was being taught in them. Why? No physics teachers. They'd all gone to work for private industry at twice and three times the salary. So he arranged to loan engineers from his plant to provide physics classes in the high schools around his plant for those students who wanted to take it. There's one example, you see, of why the educational system is slowing down. The best teachers are not in education. Very few of them, really. They're working in private industry where they can make a better living. Now, as our opponent across the Atlantic, Russia, the teachers and the professors there have prestige in Russia. They're not called eggheads.
Their salaries and their prerogatives are commensurate with other leaders in industry. And then we have this interesting information dug up by a teacher or professor of English at the University of Hawaii.
[50:54] Development of the main themes
Had 60 students in his classes. He decided to make a survey among them to find out what they were doing in the way of outside reading. Asked them all. He found, to his dismay, that only one of his 60 students was doing any outside reading, and she was a married woman of 32. So he asked the rest of them, why aren't you doing any outside reading? We don't have time. We've got to watch TV and all these other things. Well, if you did have time to read, what would you read? Well, I wouldn't read anyway because we don't need it for the subjects we're studying. The output of printed scientific material now here in America amounts to about 250,000 pages a year. There's a lot of reading material around. You have Dr. Lee Dubridge, Dr. Lee Dubridge of Caltech, saying this. Adventures in science are not only fun, they are an essential part of our intelligent everyday living. We face a new type of illiteracy in which citizens are unable to read
and understand the things about which they must make decisions. All the way from spending billions on nuclear energy to investing a few thousand dollars in a new chemical company, to what to do about putting fluorine in drinking water and to paying higher salaries to teachers of science. So that's the picture which certainly isn't too pleasant. Well, we're just giving this for you to remember now, just to back up this statement made by this control back in 1948. One of the reasons why visitors come is to make a survey of a civilization which is on its way downhill. And as I say, there seems to be some evidence of it. Though I believe myself that we probably have another 100 or 200 years to go if we use the pattern for civilization developed by the German philosopher Spengler, who I believe from his studies determined that the great civilizations last from 1,000 to 1,200 years. And he set the beginnings of our Western civilization,
that is America and Europe together as one culture, about the time of the formation of the Hanseatic leagues in Germany and Europe. Around the 10th or 11th century. So we're getting along in years now, you see, about 900 or 1,000 years old. But unless we're wiped out from some outside force or some internal ruckus of our own, it's possible we might go on into a comfortable old age and pass our philosophy on to the rest of the world. I certainly hope we do. You see, whether we'll do that or not is up to us. With this new administration, some changes in Washington, it might be. But it certainly was no radical change, was it, when the vote was so near the center line. Maybe that very balanced vote in the last general election indicated that we are achieving a sort of a balanced state of old age. I don't know. One thing that can give us hope toward the future and our survival is the new group of world servers here on the earth.
The ones who are sending up daily prayers and affirmations toward a realization of the ideal of brotherhood, which we talk about. This kind of thing has gone around the world several times. And I think the effect of these feelings and these prayers is actually making itself felt here in the world. We'll need some support like that because the radical ideas which we're developing in our space science, are going to force changes in our national life. This, I think, would be true even if the flying saucers weren't here. Because, as I say, the space scientists are beginning to dimly realize now that they're going to have to come to grips with the fourth dimension, with other levels of consciousness, with other worlds, invisible worlds. I have an indication in this news item which came out during the Space Congress in New York City during Christmas week. During Christmas week last year. These space scientists were talking about
whether it was better to send a man out into space or just black boxes, record things. And they agreed that there were some things, of course, which some observations which man could make, which no machine could make, of course, correlations and so on. But the space scientists there, and they preferred to remain nameless, this item is from the LA Times, by the way, of December 28, 1960. The space scientists talked about the probability or possibility of other forms of life on other planets. But without saying that these forms of life are in the, what we would call, the fourth dimension. Here's what they said. It might be quite difficult to recognize this form of life. And one of the chief functions of man's exploration of planets could well be the use of the peculiar facilities of the human brain to recognize life forms that could not be detected by an instrument. What are the peculiar facilities of the human brain?
The development of the pineal and pituitary glands as instruments of vision and hearing in these higher vibratory rates, worlds which are invisible to us. So here you have some space scientists recognizing that the astronaut, if he's really going to be useful in outer space or in other planets, is going to have to develop his clairvoyant and clairaudient perceptions. He's going to have to be an occultist. Perhaps that's one reason why we hear that the Russian cosmonauts are studying yoga. Perhaps our own are studying it too, on the quiet. We have another indication of this
in the change of work of one of the foremost space scientists, scientists of our day, Dr. Hermann Oberath, engaged in rocket and outer space research for 30 years. We have this interesting item from the Aviation Week magazine for November 10th, 1958. German propulsion expert, Dr. Hermann Oberath, is returning to Germany after completing a three-year contract as a consultant at the Army's Ballistic Missile Agency in Huntsville, Alabama. The 64-year-old Dr. Oberath, who believes the most exciting advances within the next 25 years will be concerned with the human brain rather than with space, says he plans to divorce the latter entirely. In other words, he's giving up space research and devoting full time to the study of psychology, extrasensory perception, and related fields. Now there is one space scientist who has publicly admitted that the race to outer space, the invasion of outer space, is really an invasion of the inner space
of man's own being. And he aims to find out. Now I don't know whether Dr. Oberath is going to break through the veil into the fourth dimension or not. But if he does, I'm inclined to have some idea of what may happen to him. And as I said, we'd close the talk with what actually did happen to Jeffrey Hodson there at Borobudur in 1930 when he saw that glorious being. This is what he was told. Although for man enlightenment seems far away in realms beyond time's imprisonment, enlightenment for all is here and now within them as a living fact, a power of accomplishment. Thus within your archetypal self exists a Christ, fully formed though partially concealed. The secret of your own enlightenment is the presence within you of this Christ to be. As you must gaze within the Christ's form, piercing with your eyes its covering, so with eyes of thought and will gaze inward and perceive that embodied wisdom which is yourself, the Christ which you are in timelessness
and will make manifest in realms of time. Keep your soul's gaze fixed upon this archetypal Christ. Dwell daily, hourly in its presence until thought and will combine to bring within your outer self the Christ of which your inner self consists. Then let imagination soar into your manifested Christhood. Picture yourself as living now the Christ's life, moving amongst men as did the Lord. Do this with will and thought unchanging until in very fact these two bring forth in you the living Christ. Thus shall time cease to imprison you. Thus shall future be blended with present, yourself at the center, conscious of both as the eternal now. Past, I counsel you to forget. Annihilate entirely, wipe from the tablets of your mind as scaffolding which, having served the builder's need, is taken down and disappears. Past is dead for you. Present and future will similarly disappear as you learn to live intensely in that fullness which is the eternal now.
And now the last part of the message, which is so perhaps even more significant today than it was when Hodson received it back in 1930. Dark is the world, darker it may yet become. Grave dangers threaten human life, human progress, human peace. The opposing forces gather for a conflict which well may be the greatest of Earth's planetary battles. Should light conquer, should brotherhood and peace prevail as almost certainly they will, then the opponents of the law, organized as enemies of man, will meet with that defeat which will put an end to mass hatred, mass brutality, and mass enmity to light. Thereafter the great law shall prevail. Could you but see as we see who, standing above the conflict, represent the law, how every unifying thought and deed of every man, however humble, if sincere, plays its important nay tremendous part in bringing victory to the side of light and law? Your work would be more inspired, your will more ardent,
your faith more fiery, and your life more full of power. Go forth therefore with added force, with greater zeal, constant in self-discipline, losing self in service, planning, thinking, working in the name of light and law, and in the name of those who are the light and who have become the law. On all your work the blessing, the power, and the peace of Borobudur. I'm sure everybody enjoyed that.
For those of you who are interested in the things that are occurring all over the world, and they must be accumulating data, but of course the presence of the visitors poses a threat to any organized civilization on the planet. The next one is, why did flying saucers land at Edwards Air Force Base in violation of their policy to remain aloof from Earth people? Whose policy? For whom do you speak when you put that question? We have many flying saucers here coming from many different places, as far as I know. All the shapes and sizes that are seen. It would appear to me that there have been three fairly major efforts to break the silence policy. One in 1948, and 1952, especially when these UFOs appeared over Washington, D.C. on successive Saturday nights. I think the first Saturday night they were there for about five and a half hours, from about 12.30 in the morning until five, or six. And tremendous headlines in the Washington papers the next day.
News went all over the country. So what? What happened? Nothing. A few more people perhaps believe, but the majority didn't. I couldn't agree that there is a policy. Well, I say there is a policy of aloofness, generally, but I say I believe also that there is an educational program, that they have a program of education. And I believe that program is moving along about as well as could be expected. Considering the cultural inertia of the Americans. The cultural inertia, that's what they're up against. I suppose it takes at least a generation to change a nation's mind. Or say, by the time the kids grow up who are reading Buck Rogers and such things in their early childhood, and the ones now who are being nourished on space travel stories and TV and movies, comic books, to them the whole thing will be taken for granted. But it takes a generation or two to do it. And the saucer phenomenon has only been here since 1947.
Half a generation. Perhaps in another ten years we will be ready for it. Do you dislike all Republicans?
Well, I am a Democrat. It's true. I'm on the liberal side. I'd have to be to believe as I do. But I thought I made it fairly clear in my talk that I felt the Democrats were equally guilty of the lag in the space program as it started with President Truman. So I don't, as I say, I don't readily admit my political bias, if you like. I think the crucial decisions which produced the lag in the space program were in the military. And much of it attributed to the vicious infighting which goes on now between the Army and the Navy and the Air Force as to who is to get the biggest chunk of the space program. That's where the real lag has been and where the most money has been wasted. Because working for the Navy at Point Magoo, I could see the infighting going on at first hand. And when I was there in 1959, the Air Force was winning. And now, since the new administration has come in, they have been given an even greater hand.
And the program, which should be logically theirs. But it is also true that at Huntsville in the 50s, the German team there and the Army team were going along at great rate. If they hadn't been shot down by some very definite change in policy in Washington, D.C. And I'll say this to anyone. I don't care who he is. I believe that policy originated in the Air Force. They won in the fight as to who was going to get into space. And that's where the lag came. It put us behind Russia. But I notice now in this week's Time magazine, talking about the space race, it very carefully gets around accusing or not accusing anyone of the lag. Life magazine. But they did admit that Kennedy inherited a program which was behind time. Without saying who set it up. But I think if you're going to, if you're going to get at the truth of this matter, you're going to have to face the facts squarely. You have one more fact, which makes me more anti-Republican, I suppose.
President Eisenhower was in office for eight years. He did not visit our spaceport at Cape Canaveral until the last year of his administration. And then, and wouldn't that be an evidence of his interest in the space program? I think so. Even then he only went down to Canaveral at the urging of people in the party who realized that might be used against him in the campaign or used against Nixon. Because I believe it was in the spring of 1959 that he visited Canaveral. But the very fact that the leader of the country was so, shall we say, dilatory, really is evidence of the general feeling of all of the Americans. We're all guilty of the lag. Every one of us. I perhaps don't feel quite as guilty as you because at the time that these things were being decided here on the mainland, I was in Hawaii. And at that time we had no vote in the presidential campaigns. That's why I said you people put him in office. I couldn't vote for a president out there.
Have you ever seen or been in a flying saucer physically? No, I haven't. Nor do I claim to have any contact with space beings directly. What assurance does Russia have that Gagarin... I can't pronounce this fellow's name. Gagarin? Gagarin actually made the cycle, traveled around the earth. What assurance does Russia have? Well, there's no question at all that they did launch a space vehicle on the day in which they claimed Gagarin made the trip. Because our own tracking equipment picked it up and Weissner, the head of the... one of the scientists in the space program informed Pierre Salinger by phone early that morning that the Russians had launched... put a ship into orbit. And he called him later and said that the vehicle had come down and the astronaut had survived the trip. But the other things about the whole thing are what make me question. The fact that the contradicting stories that he was supposed to have looked out of a window
and seen the continents and all these things when the capsule, according to one scientist, had no windows in it. Now, of course, he might have been looking through a television camera, but I believe he referred to the colors that he saw from up there. You think that the Russians have color TV in their space capsule? It could be. And then you have the other contradicting story that he came down by parachute. And the first story released that his capsule bumped very gently when it landed him. Now, how did he come down? Now, we know, at least I know, believe that the leaders of Russia will tell any lie. It serves their purpose. My own opinion about the whole thing is that as the time approached when we are going to put an astronaut into space, the Russian leader says, you better get somebody up there and quick. And also said, if you can't bring him down alive, have somebody else ready to go out and be the people's hero.
That's the way they work. And I wouldn't put it past them at all. There's no depth to which those leaders won't sink to accomplish their purpose. Nothing. That's why I say, as far as I'm concerned, there is a major doubt that Gagarin actually made the trip. But I will go along with our own tracking stations which picked up a satellite that was put in orbit for one trip around the planet. But I'm not convinced that Gagarin was the man who made it or that even was anybody in it. And I don't believe that, according to the Russians' claim, that was the first man they sent up. There isn't any doubt whatsoever in my mind that they made a major attempt to get an astronaut into space at the time Khrushchev came over here last fall. He wanted that propaganda platform from which to work. And apparently he didn't get it. Based on your own fine lecture and the needs of the humanity of this planet, wouldn't an emphasis on philosophy
and embodiment of its principles be better stressed than science in schools? Yes. But what we need is both, of course. No denying what science has done for us. But there's no denying also our need for moral principles. Some scientists, of course, to our philosophers, philosopher-scientists like Eddington and Jeans, who have in their researches admitted that they have gone to the place where they realize that mechanical models of the universe do not explain what is happening in the universe. That you've got to go into metaphysics. That this is a universe of mind. Somebody or something is controlling what's going on in the observable universe. To explain it, you're going to have to go into the realm of mind to explain it and understand it. As Jeans said, the old atheism is gone. The tragedy for us is that the orthodox scientists are a whole generation behind the leaders like Jeans and Eddington, who 20, 25 years ago were saying
that three-dimensional concepts of the universe don't explain it. That you're going to have to go higher. But to listen to these orthodox scientists today, you'd think they'd never heard of Jeans and Eddington. Yet there isn't a scientist in America who wouldn't feel it an honor to work with those men in a laboratory. But they say, we don't want anything to do with philosophy, we'll stick to our test tubes and so on. But the race into outer space is taking them into the realm of mind, whether they want it or not. And that is producing, or going to produce, a revolution here in America, whether the flying saucers are around or not. That's what we're up against.
[01:15:53] Questions and closing discussion
We're in the midst of a revolution right now. How does one develop contact with the fourth dimension? What type of meditation? There are many different techniques for doing it. My recommendation in my fourth lecture, the communication with flying saucers, is that if you don't feel you can do it by yourself, join one of the mystery schools and take the course. Rosicrucians, Theosophy, Society of the Inner Light in London. There are several around. It usually takes about three or four years for the primary work. I'm concerned with three things. First of all, concentration. You've got to get control of your mind. Second is discipline. Third is purification. Those three things. Any mystery school that's worth the time and trouble to study, it's output. If it doesn't ask those things of you, it's no good. But I wouldn't recommend any particular one because I don't believe it's right. I have been a theosophist and I have been a Rosicrucian
in the Amorc, the San Jose group. I'd recommend the San Jose study course. If anybody, I think it's well worth taking. Theosophy has several excellent books. One of them is by Annie Besant, Thought Power, Its Control and Culture. It's only a dollar or so. And the other one that goes along with that is Professor Ernest Wood's Concentration, where he gives you a graduated series of exercises which will give you control of your mind. And it's only after you have developed control of the mind that you can then learn how to free the mind from the body to go into the fourth dimension. And I should judge that for most people here in the Western world it would take the equivalent of the time and effort that it takes for a man to get a degree as a doctor. Seven or eight years of concentrated study, at least. Some people take a whole lifetime and still don't do it, don't break through the veil. You've got too far to go.
Are you going to have a convention this year? Where and what time? Yes, we're having a convention of borderland sciences at Harmony Grove. Down near us, four miles from Escondido. July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. And in those four days we'll have invited lecture demonstrators there. People who are actually working along the borderland between the visible and the invisible. Radionics, radiesthesia, dowsing, psychic research, mediumship, sound and color therapy, or alchemy, or whatever you want to call it. Hope to have electronic equipment there, which will prove, to some extent, the existence of these magnetic fields around the body, which we talked about. Have an engineer working on it now, using a supersensitive microphone. Amplification of at least 10,000 times. We will, I perhaps will give one or two talks of the flying saucer series, though I'm holding myself as a spare, more or less, trying to have the emphasis there on the people who are doing it,
who are doing research, where they can actually present data of some kind, to verify what they're doing. I believe we'll have a display of Dr. Drown's material, using the radio vision instrument. If you know anything about that work, or the work of Dr. Abrams, you have this tuning device, you get a blood specimen from a person, let it crystallize and put it in there, and tune the thing to the wavelength of the crystals, in that person's blood. Then you can analyze his general physical condition, even if he's halfway around the world from you. One of the things we aim to prove at the convention, is that every human being is radioactive. He's broadcasting all the time. And that his broadcast can be measured. And you can take that measurement and do things with it.
So, it'll be a convention of borderland research. The flying saucers of the UFOs will be a small part of it. Not the major part. Excuse me, you're all welcome to come, by the way. What does the beyond information say about the coming golden age? What does the beyond information say about the coming golden age?
Well, the implication seems to be that, as nearly as I can judge from the data I've observed, that we are coming to the end of several cycles. That we are coming to the end of several cycles. That we are coming to the end of several cycles. Several cycles all at once. As Van Tassel calls them, a master cycle, a major cycle, and a minor cycle. And as I outline in my third lecture, Flying Saucers and America's Destiny, this apparently is the time of the judgment day for this planet. Spoken of in Revelation. It's a cleaning up of the old and getting ready for the new. And I proceed on this general principle that the death of one cycle is the beginning of the next, or the birth of another cycle. So the visitors, the material that I've examined, seems to go along with that. That there's great hope for us, but that also if we are actually going to have contact with superior beings from elsewhere, we're going to have to make some changes in our way of life.
That's going to take some doing. It's possible that the cosmic forces in the new areas in space into which we're moving are going to make those changes, whether we like it or not. My recommendation to anyone is to try to find out what the plan of evolution is for the planet and start working with it. That's what all the mystery schools urge. I believe there is a plan of evolution. Because I believe in that, of course, then I have infinite hope for humanity. If these bodies are destroyed, even if the planet is destroyed, we'll go on living elsewhere. You can't destroy life. Forms, yes, forms can be destroyed, and it's a good thing. Destroyed and dissipated. Imagine what the world would be like if nobody died. From time to time I have stages of awareness while in a dream state. One outstanding was that space people have developed centers within our Earth's structure. I'm sure they have. Many centers, most of them unknown to us.
There is, I believe, some evidence, enough evidence to make a statement on it, that there are space bases under the oceans. Because we have enough data on great spaceships or glowing objects actually striking the water near ships and going on down underneath. There's a case of a British warship operating, I think, in the China Sea back in the late 19th century that was almost swamped by a huge glowing object which fell or dived into the sea very near it. And the resulting wave nearly turned the ship over. And there are, you know, if there was a fairly recent one out there near Japan, I think just within the last couple of years observed by a Japanese fishing boat. And then apparently there's a space base in the Antarctic somewhere. Well, one source I've studied, there's material I've studied, says that the South Pole is the place of entrance and exit for the evil forces. Saying that's perhaps the negative pole of the planet.
That's where they go out and in from the interior. Oh, yes, there are centers. There's much going on in the Earth. And eventually, I suppose, we'll find out more about it. Will a change of consciousness come suddenly or will it be gradual and individual? Is it a part of our universe moving into the fourth dimension? I would say both. Let us say, for a starter, that the whole solar system is going through an initiation. While there are changes going on in this planet, there will be on other planets. Perhaps not simultaneously, because we're not all in the same position. But I believe that we're moving into regions of greater density or greater pressure in the cosmos. And the pressures outside are going to create pressures within us. And those pressures will be for change. Now it's possible that individuals, I suppose, because of their different development, may react differently to the pressures. And some, because they're further along the path of evolution,
may open up sooner. But the change is inevitable, I believe. We've gotten to the place now in the evolution of the planet where the individual no longer matters. This is a cosmic thing we're going through. And we'll be dragged into the new age whether we will or no. Does there seem to be a pattern of UFO sightings such as every five years, 1947, 52, 57? It does seem to have a rhythm, a marked rhythm. There's no question about it. I wouldn't say that I know why. In some of the contact messages there seems to be an indication. I believe there was Dan Fry, his White Sands trip. I believe Alain told him when he brought him back to White Sands after that short ride that we can't stay around here any longer. We more or less have to sail with the tide. And there seems to be some evidence to indicate that they do move with cosmic rhythms. They take advantage of them, which makes sense. And so there might be apparent, say, waves of sightings or visitations
because conditions are more conducive to it. Let's see, there was one other thing I wanted to say in connection with that, sightings. Well, it escapes me now. Perhaps it'll come back. In the face of these sightings, if they are verified by qualified people, In the face of these sightings, if they are verified by qualified people, how can members of the Air Force deliberately deny them? They can deny them because they're ordered to. Period. And the last question, what is the fourth dimension? Is it something to do with ESP or clairvoyance, a philosophical new thought, an electromagnetic force field, or different levels of vibrations? The fourth dimension is just a convenient catch-all term I use because it has been made fairly popular. because it has been made fairly popular. I suppose you get on away from the three-dimensional continuum, you get into other dimensional continuums of many dimensions. I think of the fourth dimension as a sort of a general term,
just as the one the psychologists have developed where they talk of the subconscious, which could mean anything or nothing. But from my own studies and some flashes of change, I am aware and I believe that other space-time dimensions are available to us if we can free ourselves from the prison of the five senses. And there appear to be many different levels, vibratory levels of being, which are available to self-conscious beings like ourselves if we know about them and know how to get there. But I will say that the fourth dimension as I use it tonight includes all these things which you mentioned. And now our own race into outer space, the flying saucer phenomenon, is adding a new dimension to our consciousness. And that in itself will be a revolution. Suppose we assume, and there is a good basis for assuming it, that the fourth dimension is time. Now the space researchers are beginning to realize that time is very closely related to gravity.
You might say that gravity is an aspect of time, or that time is one aspect of gravity. They are inseparable. And as soon as we have learned to master gravity or to create levity, which is the opposite of gravity, then we will have freed ourselves from time. And yet we have used the word, and Einstein is responsible for it, that the fourth dimension is time. But to go into the fourth dimension or to leave the three-dimensional continuum is to free yourself from time. And we say, from what the inner controls have told us, that when you get free from the body and out into space, then you are more or less everywhere present. And it is a matter of choosing where you want to go, to localize your consciousness again. It is a matter of choice. I was thinking of one of the seances back in the early 1950s. One of our associates who had passed on came back, identified himself to Mr. Lane's satisfaction, and he spoke of the need for concentration
once you are out of the body. Dead, as we say. You have a devil of a time keeping yourself anywhere because when your mind changes, why, there you go. You are flitting about from place to place, most disconcerting. So he realized that he should have learned concentration before while he was here in the flesh. It would have been a great asset to him over there. It is harder to learn it over there than it is here. Because he says, over here on this side, wherever your consciousness is, there you are. And I have gotten into some pretty unpleasant places since I passed on. Ah, fascinating study ahead of us. It will be interesting to see the terminology that science develops now for the things which we have learned in the occult schools. Science will develop its own terminology. They say this term, the break-off point, they have developed for this change. This feeling of euphoria which comes over a man when he stays at a high altitude too long.
So charmed by the wonders of the higher consciousness that is closer there in outer space that he wants to drift away and not come back. I can't say that I blame him, considering what is going on down here. I am trying to find out how to get away from the damn place myself. Someday I am going to park my carcass and take off. Do my space travel. Leave the body here where it, you know, it's not too difficult to take care of. That's all the questions, I guess. I might say that for those of you who might be interested, excuse me, that the background music for the closing part of the talk is Wagner, the prelude to the opera Parsifal, if you want to get it and play it. Thank you very much. Let's everybody give Mr. Radikrab a big hand.
