[00:00] Opening remarks and introduction
Casey said, again, that you always know the future, that you dream the future years in advance. And sometimes you can dream what could happen. I went back to school about nine years ago, back to college, and there was a professor there who was, everyone loved him, but he had a drinking problem. And he found out that I was interested in this kind of thing, and he told me a dream that he had.
He said it had changed his life when I knew him. He was the head of the department. He said he had begun to drink about ten years before. And one night he dreamed that he was out of his body. Now, this man was a psychology professor. And he said that in the dream he seemed to be traveling through space, and he had been thinking about Virgil's writings about Hades. And he thought,
I am going to go to Hades. And in the dream he found himself there, and he was before a tribunal of nine judges. And they said, David, what are you doing with your life? And he didn't know how to answer, because he'd been drinking very much at that time. And they showed him like a motion picture. He saw himself losing his teaching job.
And he saw himself losing his wife. She divorced him in the dream. And he saw himself losing his wife. And he saw himself losing his wife. And he saw himself losing his wife. And he saw himself losing his home. And he saw himself dying of a liver complaint from drinking. And he was in the county hospital.
He said it was as real, Jessica, as anything I've ever seen. And then they said, you are going back, and you have 15 years to help humanity. And this is the key. And they gave him a golden key. He said he dreamed that he went right to the door of his house, and he looked at the key, and it said love. But when he read the word love,
he suddenly remembered all the beatings he'd had at the hands of his father when he was a boy, and how he felt rejected. And even though now everyone liked him, that he was rejecting himself, and he knew that he must love himself. And he said, I hope when the 15 years are up that it won't be hatings that I have to go to.
So I think that that was the dream of a possible future, but Casey says that we dream many, many times of the future. And as I said a while ago, doctors at Johns Hopkins are now examining your dreams to see if you dream of a certain disease. Just as in Russia, they can tell by your aura. They are able to photograph your aura, and they can tell if you have a possibility of a certain disease.
But anyway, we do dream of the future very much. What Casey dreamed, I think, was a definite dream of the future. We dream of our personal future, and we dream of our future. We dream of anything that's going to mean a lot. This is what we're going to dream. Sometimes you can change it, as he was able to do. I dreamed of a room with number 14 on it, on the door.
Any comments? Well, I have to say, and this is a symbolic dream. This is a dream that is not necessarily an out-of-the-body dream. Now, there's the key. It's always the same sentence. You say to yourself, what does this mean to me? You talk to yourself as if you're four years old. So, what does 14 mean to you?
Think about everything that 14 could mean. A door, it sounds to me like a futuristic dream. And you're being given the future in the symbology of 14. And what 14 could mean to you? Does the person want to raise your hand who had this dream? What does 14 mean to you? It must mean something. I was at a retreat.
I got to the street, but the number 14... Right now, at this moment, you can't think of anything that 14... No. No. What happened to you, especially, when you were 14? Anything special? This, to me, sounds like an initiation dream. Remember, we had, at one time, in the Edgar Cayce study groups,
when I had the little apartment in Hollywood, we had the psychiatrist at Children's Hospital with us, and she never interpreted a dream for us. She would say, you know your friends' lives, and you know their problems, and you know what they're dreaming far better than I do because you've known them longer, and I really don't...
Carl Jung said, wait until you know someone, his patients, six weeks before he would interpret a dream. But now that you tell the whole dream, it sounds very much to me as if you're having an initiation and that it is an out-of-the-body dream. It is not just a symbolic dream. And if it were my dream, Carl Jung said he would sometimes take a whole week on one little thing.
So for a week or so, I'd say, what is 14? And when you get it, you get a click. I mean, you just know, and no one else. You can take a... A thousand psychologists, they say, and let them interpret one dream, and they'll get a thousand interpretations. And according to Edgar Cayce,
only you can really interpret your own dream. It does have some particular meaning. So I would go over and over. We do have a dream book back there with a dictionary, and it's a very good dictionary. I think I went to the Corona prison for seven years and interpreted dreams there. And at the same time, I was with an entirely different group,
a women's club, and I was astounded. The girls at the prison would dream the same thing that a woman, you know, dreams that we have a universal language, but we still have to know what the personal symbology is. Please explain regarding Cayce's statement regarding only spirit life on other planets. Well, I don't like to... He didn't come out and say too much about it,
but he was once asked if there were human life, if there was human life on other planets. And he said, no, there was spiritual life. And that you are in sleep or in death, you go into the environs, I think he means the spiritual planes of the solar system, of which Venus alone could have a hundred, you know. You'd go to Venus, I'd go to Venus.
We have different experiences. But it's a very beautiful place. He indicated in one of the readings that in Atlantis, they did space traveling. He talked about spaceships. They did space traveling instantaneously. And they were in contact with other planets and so forth, but they were in spiritual contact.
Now, someone was telling me about a flying saucer. I gave several lectures up at Berkeley, I believe, for UFOs, and I had a lot of, I'm sorry to say, a lot of doubt about it. And coming home, Gloria and I saw our first flying saucer. And heavens, I had no doubt anymore. And then my husband and I were out at the Olympic Theater, and it started to rain. It started to rain, and everyone started to leave in the car.
And we were just ready to pull out, and there was a group of five little black children in the next car. And we looked up, and we saw this cigar-shaped plane, but it wasn't any bigger much than this, and it was the brightest silver-white light I've ever seen. And just like an intelligence, it came right to the car, back, right to the car, back. And I said, oh, jeez, that's a flying saucer.
And we both jumped out of the car, and the little black children, they jumped out, too. And there's that wall there on the side of the Olympic Theater, and it seemed to go right down. And we rushed around the wall. It wasn't a thing there. But it seemed to me to be a definite intelligence. A life-size man could not be in there, a woman.
It was not that big, but it certainly was directed by an intelligence. And I was thrilled to death that I saw it. Now, Casey said that there are spaceships. Jerry, do you want to say? Do you want to say something about this space? Go ahead, because you were just telling me. He's the great authority on Atlantis. You know, in Ezekiel, they talk about, quote, flying saucers,
not with those words. But in Atlantis, apparently, they did explore, even out of the solar system, and did not find physical life. Now, that is my understanding of the Casey readings. Somebody else might read it and understand differently. But, again, Casey said in the latter days of this age, we would be seeing movement. Moving lights.
And that's exactly the way I saw it. Such a beautiful thing. And it was a moving light, certainly, because we would be more spiritually inclined and able to accept it. They've been here all the time. Bertrand Bessac, who was a friend of mine, he died at 85. And he was a geologist. And he told me that in 1896, at midnight, he was out in his backyard.
And he happened to look. And he stopped. And he saw this flying saucer. That was 1896. And it stopped, just stopped. And he looked at it for 20 minutes. And there was no way for him to photograph it or anything. And he said he could never, never forget it,
because it seemed to be an intelligence trying to get a message to him. Can you program your own dreams and dream at will? Casey seemed to indicate you could. Did I read your question right? Is that what you said? Can you program your own dreams and dream at will? Edgar Cayce said that if you want to, that you could. At least you can go to sleep and you can tell yourself,
I want to dream an answer to this problem. I want to go to Venus, and so on and so on and so on. Whatever you really want. Now, you may not get it the first night. I always wanted reincarnation dreams. And I never got one until we went over to Dario's here. We went over to Dario's. We went over to Dario's.
We went over to, where was it, in Pasadena, that man who put people under hypnosis, who had worked with Mr. Martin, are you still here, Dario? Mr. Martin, A.R. Martin, Lloyd's father. I wrote to Gladys Turner and I said, I didn't get a reading from Casey. Who else in America can give you a past life reading?
And she said, in Pasadena, there's a man who worked with A.R. Martin, who is Lloyd Martin's father, who wrote a book called Research into Reincarnation. And we went. And over there, and he put us under hypnosis. And it was just like a dream of a past life. And from that time on, in fact, with me, I suddenly found myself back in a Chinese life.
In this lifetime, everybody died. My mother died when I was born, and my father died two weeks before. I lost my foster parents when I was still, my father when I was 16, I was so close to him. My two brothers were adopted, one by a Jewish doctor, and one became a Catholic priest,
and I was the little Methodist. Our parents were, you know, were Irish Catholics, so it's one of those things. But everybody went out of my life, even the boy that I was engaged to, he got killed, just one person after another. And I had wondered, I would think if I want to have a friend,
he's surely to die, or she's going to die. Just be careful, don't expect any friendships. But that night, when Mr. Proust was, Mr. Proust put me under hypnosis, I'd never been under before, and suddenly I was back in China. Now this is like a dream. And I was 16 years old,
and I had, I was a man's wife, and I loved him very much, and I had a child already. But I had no brothers, and a very rich sister, and I told the dynasty it was, I didn't know any Chinese words at all, and yet they had a wire recorder,
and I spoke in Chinese. We took it out to the professor at UCLA. And then I would translate in English. And I said that my older sister was coming home, and she was very rich, and she would take over the estate, and my husband was going to marry her, and I was going to commit suicide.
All this. And I was going to do it by taking some kind of herb, and I would die slowly and painfully, but I would die. And that was very popular in China, for women to commit suicide when their husbands took other wives, and that was the custom.
Right. But I went through the whole experience, and the thing was this terrible, terrible, terrible jealousy. And on the day I died, I just didn't want to die. I mean, the husband was sitting there. I knew that my child would be reared by my sister, and in the dream I was to have another child. I didn't want to go at all.
It was too late. But at that moment of dying, and it was just as real as anything is now, I saw this golden ladder, and I was out of the body, and the little Chinese girl, who was my, was back in.
Out of the body, you're not Chinese, and you're not English, and you're not black. You're just you. So I started to climb this ladder, and as I climbed, every single run,
a little of hatred would go, and a little of jealousy, until suddenly it was just all love. It was such a beautiful experience. And when I got to the top, there was an elderly Chinese man. I knew he was Chinese, even though there was no race.
And he reached out his hands, and he said, come, beloved. But when I was coming out of it, I heard the words, because you took yourself out of the lives of others. When you were greatly needed,
others have been taken from you. And I always try to remember in any lecture to say, don't commit suicide, because it does mean, according to Casey, a time when you'll be very, very lonely,
and people will go out of your life. When I wrote to Casey for a reading, I got an appointment, and I said to my husband, he'll be dead before I get it. And he was. And that was a part of the pattern. I even lost animals.
But I seem to be out of it now. So anyway, after that, the dreams related to past lives, it was just like I'd opened a door. I wouldn't tell other people to go into hypnosis. Casey said,
if you want to know your past lives, or if you want to know your sole purpose, or if you want to know your future, go to your dreams. That's what he said. I'll have to hurry. I dreamed I was walking past a tree. I suddenly looked back,
and it had, the most perfect, beautiful apples I had ever seen. There were so many that they were clustered on the branches, and so many I was just fascinated by them. Then I noticed that they were the most beautiful green,
let's see, beautiful green, what's the next word here? Green, and I looked again, and these were the most beautiful red areas on each one. All the apples were so perfect,
they looked almost unreal. The whole dream made me feel, very happy. I think you were out of the body, and what do apples mean to you? Now, you always have to say that.
You're talking about red and green apples, but it does sound like an out-of-the-body experience. But say this to yourself, what do apples mean to you? I would say, if this was our future dream, that you're promising yourself much greater happiness in life,
that life will become very, you know, real. Red and green, and what does red mean to me, and what does green mean to me, and what does green mean to me, Mean, mean to me, and only you can really interpret your dream.
Sometimes I have instructions just before awakening. Also, I can read from memory. What does this mean? It means you're an old and advanced soul and that you're being given instruction and do follow it. Follow whatever you're given. That is, if it seems logical to follow it. The dream of helping to prepare for someone else's wedding
and for someone else's anniversary. In dreams, I don't know you, but why don't you raise your hand? Maybe I could see your aura and it would help me a little. I don't know you, but a wedding is a happy thing, a happy event. And so if you're dreaming of preparing for someone else's, even Freud says that the main person in the dream is yourself. So you make it someone else because you might wake up. You're preparing yourself for some event, not necessarily a wedding,
that will bring great happiness. and great fulfillment to you. And through this, that you'll be able to help someone else. It's someone else, but it's another part of you. Some of these dreams mean initiation on the other side. They are out of the body, too. What is the best way to have useful dreams? To ask for them, Casey said.
And remember, Star Daily said that the worst of prisoners would have dreams that would try to help them. Because God is no respecter of persons. He doesn't, if you're an alcoholic and down on Main Street, maybe you were a St. Francis, almost, according to Casey. In fact, the man who drinks is sometimes the woman. They can't quite pull themselves out of it as easily as a more materially oriented person. So God is no respecter of persons, and your dream is a bridge to the other side.
And we can never judge anybody else, but Casey said again, and again, that you will be guided. And if you want useful dreams, every dream, I don't care if you have a nightmare. I have to agree with Freud on that point. Casey said sometimes you have a nightmare, no heads, no tails. But Freud said if you dream one word, and so did Carl Jung, it has meaning. And on this, I really think so. It doesn't matter what you dream.
If you work with it, if you say, what does this mean to me, that sometimes even a nightmare, it has great meaning. So if you ask for it, your dreams come from your higher self. Who gives you your dreams? You do. You are the playwright. You write your own dreams. You write the story plot, and from the higher self, you tell yourself what you want yourself to know.
I dream my husband of another life in Egypt or Grecian times was being buried, and I was his wife. I was expected to be buried with him, but I refused and walked away. I felt this was wrong. What does it mean? I think you're actually dreaming a past life experience. But I don't know you, and don't raise your hand. Now, is it possible, whenever we dream a past life, it's got to have some relationship to this life. I mean, according to Casey, you won't dream of a past life unless it relates to this life.
Are you walking away from something that's trying to bury you alive? I don't mean an individual. I would examine it from this viewpoint. But I would examine it from this viewpoint. I would examine it from this viewpoint. But I would examine it from this viewpoint. I would all say, probably in Egypt, that you would be buried alive with your husband or something of that nature. I think this was a past life dream.
Casey said, if you cannot interpret your dream, remember how you feel when you wake up. Because you've been out of the body, you've been looking at the whole picture from the beginning of time, when you were an angel and so forth, who came into the body. He says we were angels. And we came into the body, and you've got centuries to look at. And I remember... And I remember an elderly woman, 87 years old, wrote to Casey, and she said, How am I doing?
He said, look to your dreams. He said, if you wake up feeling happy, then you're happy with what you found outside. If you wake up feeling miserable, look back to the day before. Did you have a sharp word of what happened? Some men came into my apartment and moved all the furniture.
[20:09] Main address
I do not know what happened to it. No one spoke. As I looked out the window, there was a red sports car. There was a chauffeur waiting for me. I was not upset. The final key is in the last sentence, I was not upset. What is the red sports car to you? That's the whole key to the dream.
If your furniture is being moved out, why? Are you going to go to a new place to live? Are you spiritually going to have a new life? It sounds like a very good dream, because you woke up and you were not upset. A red sports car to me would mean life. And I would be expecting something. Very good to come right here and now in this life. I dreamed I was standing in space, and there were a lot of lights all around me,
bright white lights with blue light in the center. Sounds like an out-of-the-body experience. And again, what does blue and white, even an out-of-the-body dream, will be symbolic? And blue and white, I think of the Holy Mother wearing blue and white. And it's what it means to you. You must like blue and white. Remember, we can't bring back everything. We can't bring back everything that happens out of the body,
because we never want to wake up. It's so much better on the other side. So they tell me. So anyway, you brought it back enough to know that it's a spiritual dream and that you are being guided. That's what I just think. When I was nine years old, the doctor said I would die in 24 hours. I was not operated on, but I prayed.
And I dreamed, would you help me with this? I dreamed that I was in heaven. Is that it? Whose dream is this? It's beautiful. I don't want to make... I was told I would not die. My mother took me to another doctor.
Did I get it right? If you dreamed you were in heaven, is the person here, is that what you said? I dreamed I was in heaven. I think that you were out of the body. And as Peter, or even as I, you decided to come back into the body and you decided to continue on with your life.
Edgar Cayce was once giving a lecture and he saw a little girl, an 18-year-old girl in the audience. And he knew immediately that that was his three-year-old sister who had died 34 years or more before. And when he gave her a reading, it said that she was his sister. And at the age of three, she had a dream and in the dream she was told that she could go on. And she wanted to leave the body because her, Cayce's father,
was becoming an alcoholic. And she didn't want an alcoholic. She wanted an alcoholic for her father. But, so, she came back into the body and it was interesting, at the same age, in this lifetime, the father became an alcoholic, but she decided to stay. But Beverly told me that in this lifetime, she had a dream that she could leave if she wanted to,
but she decided to stay. So apparently that we all have these opportunities. I have dreamed of my parents and they look very young, good. But I have been with him quite often. These dreams seem very real. My mother and I were very close. As Jesse Lasky was shown, he was about 35 years old.
He was really 73, I believe. And this would seem to be what happens most of the time. I had a couple of more dreams and I was going to do them. Would you mind telling me your dream of the two girls? Yes. Oh, no, I didn't write it. Oh, do you have a question? No, I had, I thought you were going to tell me your dream.
Yeah. Well, this is a dream that I had. This is a dream that I had. This is a dream that I had. This is a dream that I had. This is a dream that I had. This is a dream that I had. This is a dream that I had.
This may seem to be the dream, but do you want to? Why don't you come up and tell me? And it said that the telegram was from my father who was killed in an airline crash, critically, and it was an airmail letter, like an airmail letter. And it said that Grandfather Gilmore passed away on March the 9th, or died on March the 9th. So the next year came along and March the 9th came and my grandpa was in trouble. So they both survived and were all right for another month or so. And then suddenly my grandpa died on April 9th.
Oh. So I was wondering why that telegram said March the 9th. Well, it might have been possible. Your grandfather could have died on March the 9th and he decided to wait a little longer. Casey said we always choose the time of death unless you get over 100 and then I think you're kind of pushed out. Yeah. That's what he said. Does anybody else have a question and then we have to close?
Yes, Shirley. So you know that picture of the Marines raising the flag and it's going to be pushing the flag up. It was like I was viewing it from, I don't know, where. It's just like you were watching. But the different part is that there was a coffin on the side. And... Yeah. You know how on a movie like something happens and it's sort of a spiral of papers and all of a sudden one comes up.
And it says, look at the man in the coffin watching his own funeral. And sort of picture the man sitting up in the coffin watching or whatever. He was just sitting up watching it and it just, I woke up right now and I was just scared half to death. I wonder if that could be a past life experience that maybe you put in symbolic form, darling. You watched your own funeral. Some of us, some of you knew Ernest Holmes and I was secretary for Dan Custer for a while. And Ernest Holmes used to tell a story about a funeral that he did. And he said that this elderly lady had been his friend for 50 years or so.
And she would say, now Ernest, when I die, I don't want anything fancy. I don't want any fancy funeral oration. But he said that afternoon he got carried away when she died and he had loved her. And he kept talking and talking and talking. And so... Suddenly he felt a pressure on his shoulder and she said, sit down, Ernest. So that might have been that kind of thing. Oh, yes, of Joe Brand.
He wanted me to tell the dream of Joe Brand. I don't think we have any prophecy books back there, have we, Jerry? Number three? Well, maybe there is a number three back. Casey prophesied that California could go down, but he didn't say definitely. He said if. But if Mount Vesuvius in Italy, or if Mount Pali and Martinique had a tremendous eruption, and I think it means tremendous because Mount Vesuvius erupted several times,
then within 90 days the earth currents would reach California and it could go down. I'm not quoting exactly. And as far back as Salt Lake City. So everyone has been expecting an earthquake. I mean, Caseyites have. And wondering if it were going to happen. But on the other hand, Casey indicated that prayer can change many things. I don't know if it can change the earthquake or not.
But I was doing prophecy books and I was trying to get all the prophecy from every source I could. And my closest friend was a gal who was a Ph.D. And her husband had only gone, I think, to the 11th grade. And he was a person who was as different from Brand as day and night. And he would dream. And he would have the most fantastic dreams of anyone I've ever known. And one day we exchanged therapy. A friend gave me therapy.
She was my friend. And she wanted me to give Joe therapy. And Joe brought a dream he said he had when he was 17. It was on yellow sheets. It was about that thick. And, you know, it was so much to read. And I just put it down in the bottom drawer and forgot about it. And it was two years later that I opened the drawer.
And I really read Joe. And I said, oh, Joe, I found the dream interesting. And I hadn't even read it. But when I read it, he had dreamed in part that he was up on Hollywood Boulevard. And that he'd seen a very good-looking gal up there. And he made the girls wear the kind of dresses that they kind of wear now. You know, everything was different. Some of the fellows had earrings in their ears.
And there was a peculiar odor in the street. And he met this girl with two children. And she was so burdened down. And he was trying to follow her. Now, really, he was 17 years old. He'd been kicked in the head by a horse. And he was up in Fresno Hospital when he was dreaming all this. And when I knew him, he was 47.
So it had been 30 years. So when he was on Hollywood Boulevard in the dream, suddenly he smelled something like sulfur. And the sidewalks began to quiver. And he thought, what is happening to the cars? And he watched the automobiles. And the way he was dreaming, he was dreaming. And the way he told it was quite dramatic. He said that as he was watching it, he wanted to get to this girl to help her.
And everything was going down. He could see every place. He would see the freeways. And they were beginning to tilt. And cars were going off. And the last thing that held, he said, the buildings were holding. The buildings were holding, holding, holding. And finally, they gave away.
And then in the dream, he was able to see that San Francisco. And I took it to my. That was when I went back to school for a while. I took it to the geology professor. He said everything this boy dreamed. He was the boy when he dreamed it. Everything he dreamed is geologically sound. This is what would happen.
And he saw around the world. He saw the great tidal waves in Hawaii. He saw the people in England being affected and falling on their knees praying for California. And all these things he saw. And then he was awake. And when he would go back to sleep, he'd go right on with this dream. Now, it seems to be a dream of what could happen. Because Edgar Cayce said if California, if there's an eruption at Mount Vesuvius and Mount Belie,
you have three months or 90 days. Within that time, California could be affected. So when I was in City College, Professor Bellarmine, who knew nothing of Cayce at that time, he said that any geologist who doesn't have a hole in his head will know that someday that California, especially San Francisco, could go down. Cayce prophesied Southern California. But Cayce seemed also to say that we can pray and that prayer can change things. So it is a possibility.
But if anything erupts too much, however you feel, you might decide to leave for a while. Thank you very much. We surely appreciate it very much. Any one of us, we can have that meeting in August. And Amber, you will receive your notice if we have your... Thank you kindly. He that is of the earth is earthly and speaketh of the earth. He that cometh from heaven is above all.
Responsive reading, John. After these things, Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. And a great multitude followed him because they saw his miracles, which he did on them that were... And a great multitude followed him because they saw his miracles, which he did on them that were... and Jesus said unto them, And Jesus said unto them,
I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die,
it abideth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. The Bible. Psalms. Truly God is good to Israel,
even to such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They are not in trouble as other men, neither are they plagued like other men. And they say, How doth God know?
And is their knowledge in the Most High? Verily, I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me, until I went into the sanctuary of God. Then understood I their end. John.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. Mortal man is the antipode of immortal man
in origin, in existence, and in his relation to God. The real man is spiritual and immortal, but the mortal and imperfect so-called children of man are counterfeits from the beginning, to be laid aside for the pure reality. This mortal is put off, and the new man, or real man, is put on, in proportion as mortals realize the science of man
and seek the true model. Material man, is made up of involuntary and voluntary error, of a negative right and a positive wrong, the latter calling itself right. Man's spiritual individuality is never wrong. It is the likeness of man's maker. Matter cannot connect mortals
with the true origin and facts of being, in which all must end. It is only by acknowledging the supremacy of spirit, which annuls the claims of matter, that mortals can lay off mortality and find the indissoluble spiritual link which establishes man forever in the divine likeness,
inseparable from his Creator. The science of mind needs to be understood. Until it is understood, mortals are more or less deprived of truth. Human theories are helpless to make man harmonious or immortal, since he is so already, according to Christian science.
Our only need is to know this, and reduce to practice the real man's divine principle, love. Mortals are not like immortals, created in God's own image. But infinite spirit, being all, mortal consciousness, will at last yield to the scientific fact
and disappear, and the real sense of being, perfect and forever intact, will appear. 1 Kings And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying,
Go, show thyself unto Ahab. And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? And he answered, I have not troubled Israel, but thou and thy father's house,
in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Balaam. Now therefore send and gather to me all Israel unto Mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him. But if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord. But Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. Let them therefore give us two bullocks, and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood,
and put no fire under. And I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under. And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord. And the God that answereth by fire, let him be God.
And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice,
nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar, which was made. And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.
And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. And it came to pass,
at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, Lord God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant,
and that I have done all these things at thy word. Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it,
they fell on their faces, and they said, The Lord, he is the God. The Lord, he is the God. Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts consciousness
and leads into all truth. What the prophets of Jehovah, did, the worshipers of Baal, failed to do. Yet, artifice and delusion claimed that they could equal the work of wisdom.
Science only can explain the incredible good and evil elements now coming to the surface. Mortals must find refuge in truth in order to escape the error of these latter days. The lines of demarcation between immortal man representing spirit
and mortal man representing the error that life and intelligence are in matter show the pleasures and pains of matter to be myths and human belief in them to be the father of mythology, in which matter is represented as divided into intelligent gods.
Mortal man has made a covenant with his eyes to belittle deity with human conceptions. In league with material sense, mortals take limited views of all things. That God is corporeal or material, no man should affirm. The human form or physical finiteness cannot be made the basis of any true idea
of the infinite Godhead. Eye hath not seen spirit, nor hath ear heard his voice. Progress takes off human shackles. The finite must yield to the infinite. Advancing to a higher plane of action, thought rises from the material sense to the spiritual,
from the scholastic to the inspirational, and from the mortal to the immortal. The everlasting I AM is not bounded nor compressed within the narrow limits of physical humanity, nor can he be understood or right through mortal concepts. The precise form of concept
must be of small importance in comparison with the sublime question what is infinite mind or divine love. 1 Kings And he came thither unto a cave and lodged there. And, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him,
What doest thou here, Elijah? And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts, for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword. And I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life to take it away.
And he said, Go forth and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and break in pieces the rocks before the Lord. But the Lord was not in the wind, and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake,
and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire a still small voice. Isaiah The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. For the Lord God will help me,
therefore shall I not be confounded. Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence, but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal truth. The soul-inspired patriarchs heard the voice of truth and talked with God as consciously as man talks with man. The still small voice of scientific thought
reaches over continent and ocean to the globe's remotest bound. The inaudible voice of truth is to the human mind as when a lion roareth. It is heard in the desert and in dark places of fear. The effects of Christian science are not so much seen as felt. It is the still small voice of truth uttering itself. We are either turning away from this utterance or we are listening to it and going up higher. Willingness to become as a little child
and to leave the old for the new renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear. This disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony. Mortal thought transmits its own images and forms its offspring after human illusions. God, spirit, works spiritually, not materially.
Immortal ideas, pure, perfect and enduring, are transmitted by the divine mind through divine science, which corrects error with truth and demands spiritual thoughts, divine concepts, to the end that they may produce harmonious results. II Kings And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind,
that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto him, Come, Terry, I pray thee here, for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they too went on.
And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they too went over on dry ground. And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said,
I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee. But if not, it shall not be so. And it came to pass, as they still went on and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire,
and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. Man is more than a material form,
with a mind inside, which must escape from its environments in order to be immortal. Man reflects infinity, and this reflection is the true idea of God. God expresses in man the infinite idea, forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher
from a boundless basis. Mortals must look beyond fading finite forms, if they would gain the true sense of things. Where shall the gaze rest but in the unsearchable realm of mind? As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible,
will become visible. When we realize that life is spirit, never in nor of matter, this understanding will expand into self-completeness, finding all in God, good, and needing no other consciousness. Detach sense from the body or matter,
which is only a form of human belief, and you may learn the meaning of God or good, and the nature of the immutable and immortal. Breaking away from the mutations of time and sense, you will neither lose the solid objects and ends of life, nor your own identity. Man understands spiritual existence
in proportion as his treasures of truth and love are enlarged. Mortals must gravitate Godward. Their affections and aims grow spiritual. They must near the broader interpretations of being and gain some proper sense of the infinite in order that sin and mortality may be put off. This scientific sense of being,
forsaking matter for spirit, by no means suggests man's absorption into deity and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man enlarged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent peace. The conceptions of mortal erring thought
must give way to the ideal of all that is perfect and eternal. Through many generations, human beliefs will be attaining diviner conceptions, and the immortal and perfect model of God's creation will finally be seen as the only true conception of being. Zechariah
Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country. Turn you to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope. And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people,
for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land. Matthew And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
And his fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy. And he healed them.
And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee and from Decapolis and from Jerusalem and from Judea and from beyond Jordan. Psalms I will extol thee, O Lord, for thou hast lifted me up
and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave.
Thou hast kept me alive that I should not go down to the pit. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing. Thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness to the end that my glory may sing praise to thee
and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever. The necessity for uplifting the race is father to the fact that mind can do it. For mind can impart purity instead of impurity,
strength instead of weakness, and health instead of disease. The notion that animal natures can possibly give force to character is too absurd for consideration when we remember that through spiritual ascendancy our Lord and Master healed the sick,
raised the dead, and commanded even the winds and waves to obey him. The lack of spiritual power in the limited demonstration of popular Christianity does not put to silence the labor of centuries.
Spiritual, not corporeal consciousness is needed. Man, delivered from sin, disease, and death, presents the true likeness or spiritual ideal. We must realize the ability of mental might to offset human misconceptions
and to replace them with the life which is spiritual, not material. The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal. We must hold forever
the consciousness of existence and, sooner or later, through Christ and Christian science, we must master sin and death. The evidence of man's immortality will become more apparent as material beliefs are given up and the immortal facts of being
are admitted. God is the principle of man and man is the idea of God. Hence, man is not mortal nor material. Mortals will disappear and immortals or the children of God will appear as the only and eternal verities of man.
Sin, sickness, and death must disappear to give place to the facts which belong to immortal man. Learn this, O mortal, and earnestly seek the spiritual status of man, which is outside
of all material selfhood. Mark And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared under them Elias with Moses.
And they were talking with Jesus. And there was a cloud that overshadowed them. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son. Hear him. And suddenly
when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more save Jesus only with themselves. And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man
were risen from the dead. 2 Corinthians For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ. We, having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken. We also believe, and therefore speak, knowing that he which raised up
the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might, through the thanksgiving of many, redound to the glory of God. Elias
Prophecy Spiritual evidence opposed to material sense Christian science with which can be discerned the spiritual fact of whatever the material senses behold the basis of immortality
If it is true that man lives, this fact can never change in science to the opposite belief that man dies. Life is the law of soul, even the law of the spirit of truth. And soul is never without its representative. Man's individual being can no more die nor disappear in unconsciousness
than can soul, for both are immortal. If man believes in death now, he must disbelieve in it when learning that there is no reality in death, since the truth of being is deathless. The belief that existence is contingent on matter, must be met and mastered by science
before life can be understood and harmony obtained. Death is but another phase of the dream that existence can be material. Nothing can interfere with the harmony of being, nor end the existence of man in science. Only by the illumination of the spiritual sense can the light of understanding
be thrown upon this world. This is the essence of science, because science reverses the evidence before the material senses and furnishes the eternal interpretation of God and man. For right reasoning, there should be but one fact before the thought,
namely, spiritual existence. In reality, there is no other existence, since life cannot be united to its unlikeness, mortality. Being is holiness, harmony, immortality. It is already proved that a knowledge of this, even in small degree,
will uplift the physical and moral standard of mortals, will increase longevity, will purify and elevate character. Thus progress will finally destroy all error and bring immortality to light. The end. How, then, doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
The Lord said unto 2 Corinthians,
[01:01:37] Development of the main themes
For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. For I mean not that other men be eased and ye burdened, but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want,
that their abundance also may be a supply for your want, that there may be equality. As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over, and he that had gathered little had no lack.
Go to now ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell and get gain, whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. Proverbs
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. The term science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to his government of the universe, inclusive of man.
From this it follows that businessmen and cultured scholars have found that Christian science enhances their endurance and mental powers, enlarges their perception of character, gives them acuteness and comprehensiveness, and an ability to exceed their ordinary capacity.
The human mind, imbued with this spiritual understanding, becomes more elastic, is capable of greater endurance, escapes somewhat from itself, and requires less repose. A knowledge of the science of being develops the latent abilities
and possibilities of man. When we realize that there is one mind, the divine law of loving our neighbor as ourselves is unfolded, whereas a belief in many ruling minds hinders man's normal drift towards the one mind, one God, and leads human thought into opposite channels
where selfishness reigns. Selfishness tips the beam of human existence towards the side of error, not towards truth. Denial of the oneness of mind throws our weight into the scale not of spirit, God, good, but of matter.
Right motives give pinions to thought and strength and freedom to speech and action. Take away wealth, fame, and social organizations which weigh not one jot of God, and we get clearer views of principle.
Break up cliques, level wealth with honesty, let worth be judged according to wisdom, and we get better views of humanity. The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same principle or father, and blessed is that man
who seeth his brother's need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another's good. Jeremiah Thus saith the Lord, Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm,
and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land, and not inhabited. Blessed is that man that trusteth in the Lord,
and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. Isaiah
Hast thou not known, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles,
they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint. The understanding that life is God, Spirit, lengthens our days by strengthening our trust in the deathless reality of life, its all-mightiness and immortality. Man in science is neither young nor old.
He has neither birth nor death. He is not a beast, a vegetable, nor a migratory mind. He does not pass from matter to mind, from the mortal to the immortal, from evil to good, or from good to evil.
Such admissions cast us headlong into darkness and dogma. Even Shakespeare's poetry pictures age as infancy, as helplessness and decadence, instead of assigning to man the everlasting grandeur and immortality of development, power, and prestige. Life and its faculties are not measured by calendars. The perfect and immortal
are the eternal likeness of their maker. The measurement of life by solar years robs youth and gives ugliness to age. The radiant sun of virtue and truth coexists with being. Manhood is its eternal noon, undimmed by a declining sun. As the physical and material,
the transient sense of beauty fades, the radiance of spirit should dawn upon the enraptured sense with bright and imperishable glories. Never record ages. Chronological data are no part of the vast forever. Timetables of birth and death are so many conspiracies against manhood and womanhood. Except for the error of measuring and limiting
all that is good and beautiful, man would enjoy more than three score years in ten and still maintain his vigor, freshness, and promise. Isaiah And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down,
and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth. It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace. The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Be ye glad and rejoice forever in that which I create. For behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing
and her people a joy, who that has felt the loss of human peace has not gained stronger desires for spiritual joy. The aspiration after heavenly good comes even before we discover what belongs to wisdom and love. The loss of earthly hopes and pleasures brightens the ascending path of many a heart. The pains of sense quickly inform us
that the pleasures of sense are mortal and that joy is spiritual. The pains of sense are salutary if they wrench away false pleasurable beliefs and transplant the affections from sense to soul, where the creations of God are good, rejoicing the heart. Soul has infinite resources
with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping if sought in soul. Christians rejoice in secret beauty and bounty hidden from the world but known to God. Self-forgetfulness, purity and affection are constant prayers.
Practice not profession, understanding not belief. Gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence. And they assuredly call down infinite blessings. The divine mind that made man maintains his own image and likeness. The human mind is opposed to God and must be put off, as Saint Paul declares.
All that really exists is the divine mind and its idea, and in this mind the entire being is found harmonious and eternal. The straight and narrow way is to see and acknowledge this fact, yield to this power and follow the leadings of truth. If the disciple is advancing spiritually,
he is striving to enter in. He constantly turns away from material sense and looks towards the imperishable things of spirit. If honest, he will be in earnest from the start and gain a little each day in the right direction till at last he finishes his course with joy. The end.
And Jesus answered and he said, I am the first fruit of my Father. And I love that, because it means there's hope for all of us. Apparently he decided to come back to the body and when he woke up they gave him adrenaline. He has the doctor's certificate saying that he was legally dead, which is a lot like Amanda Campbell in England.
He wrote a book on his experience, Amanda. He, he went to sleep very, very ill. And he said he thought he was awake. He went outside of his cottage in England and he found a green gate. And he went out on the green gate and he started to walk down a wide road.
The only thing he noticed, he heard the most beautiful music he had ever heard. And he said that he kept wondering, well, where is everybody going? There were German soldiers there, American soldiers. He was walking with a little Chinese woman and he turned to her and they seemed to, everyone spoke the same language.
And he asked her, where are we? And she said, oh, don't you know? This is what people call death. He said, death? I've got to get back to my life. And she said, oh, don't go, don't go. It's so much happier here. But he turned and started to press backwards.
He went, found the green gate again. He went inside and there was a sheet up over him too. And he pulled it down and his wife was sitting by the bed crying. And he called her. He said, darling, and she fainted. But the doctor was there. And the doctor, he had the certificate, a copy in the book of his death certificate.
Now, he didn't live too long after that experience. So apparently he was, he chose to come back for a while. And even he talked about how beautiful it was, how free he felt, how young he felt on the other side. So there are many, many things. There are many stories about this kind of a thing. Something that doesn't have a thing to do with death. I had a friend, Bernice Ridgway.
Maybe I shouldn't have said her name. But she no longer lives in California. She was in the Casey study group. And she had had a very bad emotional experience with a man who had promised to marry her for 21 years, for quite a long time. And she was a very attractive girl. And she was also his secretary.
And Bernice would always say, well, I'll marry you, Bernice, when Mama dies. I can't marry you before Mama dies. So he and his mother took a trip to Phoenix, Arizona. And he called Bernice up. And just before she was leaving the office, he said, Bernice, I have the most wonderful news for you. And she said, oh my, he's going to ask me to marry him, finally.
He said, Bernice, I'm getting married Sunday morning. I've met a 19-year-old girl. And mother approved, and we're getting married. And Bernice tried to answer him. But she couldn't say a word. From that moment, for six months, she never said a word. And of course, the psychiatrist later told her it was her anger welling up. She was furious.
And she couldn't say anything because she was afraid of what she would say. So she was going for psychiatric treatment. And she was having strange dreams. And she simply wasn't wacky at all. She would dream that she would go to sleep every afternoon. And she would dream she was in her bed. She usually had a robe on. But she would dream that a man came through the closet.
And she would smell him before she would see him. He was just loaded with cigar smoke. And she would wake up, and he'd say, come on, Bernice. And she would get up, and instantly she'd be dressed in a blue suit or something that was proper. Now, in real life, she'd been going out to Sawtelle Hospital every day as a gray lady. This was during the war. So he would take her to Sawtelle. And she would go to a place in Wadsworth, some of you know Sawtelle,
where the boys had lost their arms or an eye or both eyes or something. And where they could even stand out and have beer. It still exists. I've been there. And he'd take her there. And she would do the same thing that she did when she was awake. She'd go around and talk to the different boys. She didn't see anything wrong with this.
But in every dream, it was Sunday. Now, she would dream it on a Tuesday, on a Wednesday, on a Thursday. It was always Sunday. They always had fried chicken. They always had steak and beer and cokes and so on. They always had those things. And one day, she said to this man who smelled so cigar-smoked, why is it always Sunday here?
And he said, I don't know. He said, I haven't figured that out. So he said, I want you to meet a young artist. She was an artist. He said, I think he can help you, Bernice. And she met this young artist who was a Mexican boy. His name was Philip Bartholomew Martinez. Such an unusual name.
And every day, he would help Bernice with her painting. And one day, he said, Bernice, don't you know where you are? And she said, well, I know I'm asleep. And she said, when I wake up, I can't talk, but I know I'm asleep. He said, Bernice, don't you know anything about where you are? He said, don't you ever wonder why it's always Sunday, why they always have chicken and beer and everything they want or whatever they want?
It's always Sunday. And she said, well, no, she didn't think anything about it. He said, Bernice, we're all dead. He said, I don't know why they don't know they're dead. He said, I know we're dead. He said, I want you to go to the office and check up on me and find when I died. I think I died eight months ago of pneumonia.
He also had been ill a long time. He'd been shot in the lungs. And so she actually did. And she had to lie a little. They won't give out personal records. She said she was his cousin. He had been dead eight months. And then she started to think about it.
And the next day when she dreamed, she found herself with Philip again. And he said, I've got to help you a lot on painting because I think I'm going up higher. He said, I'm not going to stay here. And she said, Philip, you can't be dead because Father Murphy is here. And he said, oh, Bernice, Father Murphy's been dead even before I was. He said, he just doesn't know he's dead either. And he said, I think when they get ready to know, well, then they will know.
And that was the last time. I don't think that she ever dreamed that. Because when she woke up, she was suddenly able to speak. And never again could she go back there. And the only proof she had was that a boy had died. But I think that she was out of the body. Now, as I understand Edgar Cayce, sometimes you may not know you're dead for five or six years, especially in a place like that, I would say.
But the moment that they knew, then they would be ready to go on. Some of you heard Mrs. Hardy out here. I'm sure she told that. I heard a dream story. It's kind of a dream. It's a vision. It's a waking vision. She said in her book, Harvest Years, how many of you know Mrs. Hardy?
I understand she spoke for you a few weeks ago. I hope she told that story. She said she did have a rest home right up on the hill. I live up on Mount Washington. She had a rest home up on San Rafael. And she said one night she had been to the Hollywood Bowl. And she had this 93-year-old lady living with her, a Miss Ashley. Miss Ashley had never been married, and she was a very mental person.
She was a Unitarian. She did not believe in life after death. She certainly did not believe in the Christ or in Buddha or anyone. But she was a very, very nice person and very fond of Mrs. Hardy's little dog. And Mrs. Hardy said she didn't get home until about 11 o'clock that night. And to her amazement, Miss Ashley said, Marie, will you come in here? And she went in. And Miss Ashley, who was perfectly normal in every way, she said like a woman of 50 or 60,
Miss Ashley said, Marie, I'm leaving you tonight. And Mrs. Hardy said, what would you say? She said, of course you're not. She said, I want you to stay with me until it happens. I don't know how I know, but I'm going to leave you. And she went on and talked. And she said, do you know, she said, Marie, she said, I had such a good life. I was never married, but I did teach school.
And I had a lot of contacts. And she said, I had your little dog. And she said, I don't believe any of the things that you believe. I certainly don't believe I have to have a life after death. And I don't believe in your Christ. But I'm very, very happy. And so she turned on the radio, I believe, and there was some beautiful music on KFAC. And suddenly Miss Ashley said straight up, she said, Marie, look over in the corner.
Look at that bright light over there. And Marie said she looked and saw nothing. And Miss Ashley said, do you see that young man? He's brought all of those beautiful dogs, Marie. And she said, Marie, that is Jesus. She said, well, you're right. That is Jesus. And he's brought those beautiful dogs.
Oh, Marie, he's brought them for me. I'm so happy. And in that moment, she got back on her pillow. And she wrote about that story, Mrs. Hardy did, in her harvest years. And I think it's one of the beautiful stories. Because I love dogs so much. I have 10. I'm glad to hear that they're all going to be there waiting for me.
Peter Ballbush. Peter Ballbush was the montage director. Did anybody here know Peter? I mean, he was probably the best lecturer, I think, in America. I don't think anybody quite compares with Peter. Well, Peter produced a film called, do you remember the name of it? The Body of the Shell. The Body of the Shell.
Yes. And he did it because of a dream experience. He had when he was five years old. Peter's father was a Lutheran minister and also a professor. And his father had had three wives. And the first two had died. And Peter's wife, I mean, Peter's mother was very, very young. And Peter was five years old.
So he always felt a little different from his brothers and sisters. And one day they were all, this was in Switzerland. They all went up to the mountains to go into a stream to go fishing. And then they decided to go swimming. And someone pushed Peter into the water. And when they went into the water, he started to scream, I can't swim, I can't swim. And they were just boys. And they said, oh, you can swim, just try, just paddle.
But in one minute, Peter was going down. And he said he remembered it in the greatest of detail that he was struggling for breath and trying to get his breath. And it was just a horrible experience. And then he said he found himself on the other side of a lake. And he was in a lovely little shoe ship of some kind. It was silver. He was floating along so happily.
And he looked over. And on the side of the bank, there were about 50 people. And they were all waving to him. And the little boat just went naturally over to the bank. And when he got there, he said that his mother, who had just died, came running toward him. And she lifted him out of the boat. And she said, Peter, you can't stay there. You can't stay very long.
And as she did, he saw that she had a little gold cross with a red ruby in the center. He said it was so real to him, this little cross that was moving. She said, Peter, you have to go back to Earth. Because someday you're going to be able to tell a lot of people in the world that there isn't any death, that no one is dead. I'm not dead. You're not dead. This is a real experience.
You've got to go back. So Peter said, he said, I don't want to go back, Mama. They don't like me very well. I'm not happy since you're not here. But she insisted, you've got to go back, Peter. Boy, you must go back. And the next moment, he found himself struggling for air. And his brothers were working on him.
And he came to. He was very sick. They took him home. Now, he said his father was a very, very stern man. And that night, his father came into his bedroom and said, Pita, you have got to never do what anyone tells you to do. You've got to learn to swim or you will drown. And so on. And Peter said, but Papa, I saw Mama.
And his father came over and gave him a quick slap. He said, what a liar you are. You didn't see your mother. And Peter said, yes, I saw her. She was wearing the white dress that she used to wear at parties. And he said, Papa, she had a little cross that was gold with a red stone in the middle. And he said his father turned perfectly white. And his father kind of stepped back.
He said, Peter, where did you hear that your mother had that stone? He said, Papa, I saw it. She had it around her neck. And then he said his father told him the rest of the story when he was about 20 years old. The father was, as I said, a Lutheran minister. And his mother was a Catholic. And before her death, his mother had begged her husband for a crucifix. And her husband just could not see himself going into that little town into a store buying a crucifix.
He couldn't do it. But the day that she died, he didn't know she was going to die so soon. He went into a jewelry store and bought her this little cross with a red ruby. His mother had been very beautiful and had died of TB. And so she was in a closed coffin. Peter had never seen her. He was at his grandmother's. And this was the one proof that even his father had that it was the true story.
So Peter remembered that all those years. And he used to say in class some day that, I'm going to do something. I promised my mother. And one day he made a picture. And it was called A Body is a Shell. And it was a motion picture. So he kept his promise.
I see I've told most of these stories. I'm almost finished. Casey again said that dreams will give you whatever you want. A very lonely person would dream of going to a place of love, for instance. I have a friend who's a Buddhist. And the Buddhists do not believe in twin selves. Edgar Casey said everyone had a, quote, twin soul. That you're not with them always in the body,
but you're with them in sleep and you're with them after death. If you want to be. You don't have to be. But Mario, who was very skeptical on the idea of twin selves, had a dream one night. And he dreamed he went to a plane. He called it a plane. Where there were a lot of trees and a lot of gardens.
And where young lovers who were separated in the earth were together. And whatever the age they were in the earth, they were young. And they walked hand in hand. So he stopped an old man and he said, This can't be true. He said the Buddha didn't say one word about twin souls. He said it cannot be true.
They all say that they're twin souls. And the man said, Well, even the Buddha, perhaps, could learn this at a later time. Of course, to that effect, I don't remember. And as if looking at a movie, Mario said he saw a book in front of him, which really exists.
I looked it up. And the Buddha himself had a dream once that he was caught up to the seventh heaven and there he walked with his mother. And so Mario in the dream said, Well, I guess his mother was his twin soul. I thought it was sort of an interesting dream because that's the answer that he wanted to know.
And the twin soul story that I like the best is the story of Mark Twain, which you probably know, so we'll make it very brief. Mark Twain was a man that people either loved or they hated. And sometimes he always put his foot in his mouth with people who wanted to be very proper. He was asked to be emcee at a dinner
where Oliver Wendell Holmes and all the great writers of America were. So I don't think Mark Twain knew he was psychic. And he thought it would be very funny to tell all these men that they had died and they had gone to heaven. And Saint Peter said to each one of them, Well, now look, Bob, you drank too much.
And you had other women and so on. And so he told this story and an absolute violence settled over this dinner. No one said anything. And the next morning in the New York Times, it said Mark Twain makes an oath of himself. And he was just flabbergasted. And then little by little,
his friend said, Why did you say that so-and-so had other women? Everybody knows that he didn't know. Why did you say that so-and-so had other women? Why did you say that so-and-so was a secret drinker? And he didn't know that. So he was really tuning in psychically. But he just said he felt like ending it all.
He thought his career was over. He had no friends left. And then it was on that day that he had the first drink. He had a wife and he was happily married, to a degree anyway. His wife was an invalid, which we might say she had some psychological problems because they couldn't find out what was wrong with her.
But anyway, it was not a bad marriage. They were very friendly and happy in many ways. And he couldn't understand this dream. He dreamed that he was in a little town in Missouri and it was about 80 years before he was born. And he was walking over a little bridge and in front of him he saw a girl about 15 years old
with long golden curls. So he knew her name was Agnes. And he caught up with her and they were like brother and sister, but very, very happy together. And they went to a little farmhouse where it seemed they lived. There was a turkey on the table,
a cat by the fire. And they spent the whole day together until in the dream she went out the door and he ran after her and he saw a cemetery. And he was screaming her name. That was the first dream. He woke up crying. The second dream, he said,
was between walking across the street like a waking dream, between one foot in front of you and the next. And he looked suddenly back in time. He saw himself as the same girl in a magnolia forest in Mississippi. And again he felt she died. The third time he had the dream
was after he'd had a great humiliation, lost all of his money.
[01:31:52] Questions and closing discussion
And he had a dream he was in Hawaii and he himself was Hawaiian in the dream. The same girl was with him and she was Hawaiian. They were up on a mountain. They were planning their marriage. They were very happy and an arrow came through the air
and hit her in the heart and she died in the dark. And again he woke up crying. And the last dream, of this dream he wrote it. This is death. That I welcome death and I look forward to it.
He said that in this particular dream that he was in Greece. And once again, he was standing on a balcony of a beautiful house. He said terracotta. It was a mansion. And he looked over beside him
and the same girl dressed in a long gray Grecian gown was sewing. And she looked up at him and smiled. And something made him walk to the balcony. And when he got to the balcony he looked across the square and there he saw Socrates.
But in his dream he said he had never thought of young Socrates. But this was young Socrates and he was teaching a great many people. And he thought even in the dream I'm back in time and I am so happy. And again if this be death
this is what I want. This is what I would like. And he died not too long after that particular dream. I promised to say something about healing and so I'll end up on that. Pope Pius XII
had a dream of Jesus. Now Cayce said that we can have healing in dreams. And the Pope of course was he was the Pope. I mean he wasn't thinking about exactly what happened. He'd been given up to die for hip coughing.
Is that the way to pronounce it? I asked somebody to die. I think he had cancer of the esophagus if I remember. But anyway he was in a lot of pain and had been hip coughing for days. And in his dream
he thought he woke up and Jesus was standing beside him. And Jesus said I'm giving you four more years of life. And used it to help people. And the moment he was awake he knew he would live four more years. And he lived in almost perfect health
for four more years. And it's kind of interesting Catherine Marshall had the very same dream. She dreamed that she had tuberculosis. And it was when she was happily married to Peter. And she couldn't understand
having tuberculosis. And she said that she went back to the time she was 14 years old. And she once said a spiteful word to her friend. And she wrote that friend and asked her to forgive her.
And she once stole a pencil or something when she was even younger. And she wrote that friend and asked her to forgive her. She did everything she knew to do from an orthodox standpoint. And she went to see her mother.
And she was staying there for a few days. And she said that in this particular dream if it were a dream she thought she woke up. And Jesus was standing by the bed. And she said
oh Lord I've done everything. I've done this and I've done that and I've done that. And she said he just smiled at her. And he looked at her and said
well there's so much you don't know. I heard her tell this in the lecture too. That there's so much that you don't know. But she said I want to be healed.
And he didn't say you'll be healed. He didn't say anything about it. And when the next day came she didn't feel any better. She said she had never seen
such love and understanding and compassion. The same thing that Star Daily said. The same thing that Popeye said. Three different types
of people. And day by day she got better until she was absolutely healed. And before I tell the last dream of healing
I don't think I've told the Edgar Cayce story. Did I tell it Barbara? I mean I'm not talking about the flying saucer.
I don't think I told this one. This is not a dream of healing. I'll end on that. But Edgar Cayce was arrested in Detroit.
And he was arrested quote for fortune telling. It was absolutely one of the ugliest things that could ever have happened. And he was an orthodox man
in many ways consciously. And he cried all the way home on the train he went to. And his father said
my work is gone. I don't mean anything. I can't help anybody anymore. Everything is ruined. I've been in jail and that's it.
And Hugh Lynn said he tried to say everything and his father kept crying all the way home. He never stopped crying on that train
that horrible night until finally Hugh Lynn looked over and he saw that his father had gone to sleep. And when he woke up he said
Hugh Lynn I had the strangest dream. He said I dreamed that it was the year 2100 or 2104
when I was just a little boy six years old and in my dream I knew that I had once lived as Edgar Cayce.
And he said I told my mother and I told my father he said the strangest thing was that it was the state of Nebraska
and I could see the map of the United States. And he said in my dream I knew that Nebraska was the sea coast
and that we were living on the sea coast. Something had happened to California and all the other states. But he said I kept telling
my parents that I wanted to go to Virginia Beach, Virginia because there were the records of a man
named Edgar Cayce and I had been Edgar Cayce. And in the dream his father finally persuaded some scientists to take him
to Virginia Beach. He said they went in a cigar shaped plane and they went across the country they circled over New York City
and New York City this is the year 2100 had a had been raised as if by fire R-A-C-E-D and something had happened
to it. Then they went on to Virginia Beach and there they were able to find the records. Then he discovered that there had been
an Edgar Cayce. And in the dream he said that when he woke up that he had well if he woke up from the dream he was very,
very happy. They had a reading and the reading said that this is true and that the purpose of our time in the earth is for us
to learn that there is no death and this is also the greatest teaching in the pyramid. And the final healing story that someone
asked me to tell it. It's a true story some of you may know it of Rebecca Beard who was an M.D. and who wrote a book
about marvelous healings of people who had given up completely and who were healed through prayer. She had a patient
whose name was Alice I've forgotten her last name and this particular patient had a 30 pound tumor. And Mrs. Beard
said that she had another doctor and this doctor was a close friend and he'd say oh Alice you must have an operation
you must let us drain it you must let us do this and that and she said no I'm going to be healed by prayer.
And she prayed for two years and absolutely nothing happened and she wasn't one bit better but neither was she
one bit worse. And one night it was a good Friday and Mrs. Beard wrote that Alice went to sleep exhausted on a very hard day
her husband went to work at midnight and she went to sleep and she had this dream. She dreamed that it was the time of Palestine
and that she was somehow in the Garden of Gethsemane and she knew even in the dream that she was out of the body
because her feet weren't quite touching the ground and she was not herself at all she was slender and she saw in the Garden
of Gethsemane and she also saw all the disciples and they were nearly all asleep and she would say wake up wake up
wake up don't you know what's going to happen but she couldn't get through to them and she said the whole scene changed
and it was the next day and it was the crucifixion and she saw Jesus hanging getting ready they had nailed him to the cross and the cross
was lying down on the ground and as they picked him up there was about six inches that they were going to drop him
in the ditch he had nails here I believe not through his hands but here and through his feet and she saw that as they
dropped him into the ditch it was going to hurt him and tear his skin and she reached out in her dream and she said
oh my Lord let me help you and with that she woke up and when she was awake she felt different in some way
she looked down at herself she was absolutely as slim as a girl she only weighed 97 pounds there was nothing to show that she
had been healed there was nothing on the bed or anything it was just gone and her husband came home in about five minutes
and she grabbed pillows and she put on top of herself and she said oh Roy you've got to call the doctor
immediately he said oh you're worse you're worse and he ran to call the doctor and when the doctor came in
it was the doctor who had always told her to go and she pulled off the bed clothes and she was
perfectly well now this story has been written up in the Kansas City Star for about 22 years a dream
of a healing of a woman with a 22 pound tumor it came through a dream the healing and as Casey
said whatever you want in dreams whether it's to dig for fishing worms or to build
a space cloud that one did you mean one in specific oh I think that was in March
wasn't it Mac March 12th March 25th that was it we live in Morongo Valley
if you're familiar with the 29 palms highway Morongo Yucca Valley Joshua Tree
29 palms that's our vicinity since September and the map was on our
website www.tomahood.com you can find the music on most of our
calls here we're about a little past it
I know about the trees that you see
they're find out what time it was because we wanted to get home in time to see it's all in the family and uh and there was so much noise on the radio and i said to my husband well what what time do you have and he says well i haven't got my watch on i think the car radio is wrong you can see how this was building up so we started going down the grade to morongo and i kept trying the radio finally when we got down on on the flat uh the radio cleared up a little bit and i heard this man giving news i says well it's after eight o'clock so we're going to miss out on the first part of the program and so i just kind of looked out the car window like that and i looked again
and there was this huge black cloud hanging very low over us and it was just so low and no other clouds around that i began to get a peculiar feeling and so i was gawking out of all the car windows and it it stretched way over uh east of highway 62 and when we got home it was where she's in and each time I'd come back to the garage, I'd look out, and that big dark cloud was still up there. So we have a phone in the garage, so I said, I'm going to call Esther Ellsworth. So Esther answered, and I said, would you leave the phone long enough to go outside and see that dark cloud? And she did, and she came back, and I said, did you see anything unusual?
Yes, she said. I had a strange feeling about it. I said, well, who can we call? And she says, well, Ralph Martine. He's a psychic, lives there in the valley. She called Ralph, and he came back in. He said, I got a psychic vibration from that cloud, and it's a good one. He said, so I'm going to sit out there with my teenage son and watch it, and I advise you to do the same thing.
So we sat out there for a while, and finally Ralph, and he said, I got a message from them, and they said the highway is too crowded right now. We're coming back around 11 o'clock. That was about 9 o'clock, and we continued watching, and all of a sudden the cloud just disappeared. Just disappeared. I just, I couldn't begin to go to bed. Now, along about 10.30, my eyes really began to bother me. I have some allergy problems, and it's generally my nose, but this time it was my eyes.
So I said, well, I'm going to go in and take some eye drops or something. So I did, and I stepped out on the east patio, and the cloud was forming again. And I let out a yell, so I called Ralph, and he said, I'm still out there watching. The same shape that it had, it watched it over the palm. Three clouds separated into two clouds, and one of them took on an oval shape, all about, about like this. Nine, Esther, and she said, yes, I was, this became so old hat that we quit watching it. That's about it. I got dry telling them about that.
We get so, so dry here. We're dry out there, and then we come in here, and the humidity gets to us, and we have quite a time. But we didn't want to miss the meeting when we heard it was Jessica tonight. When he had just started, so we would drop him off for his lesson at night, and then we'd drive over. We drove over onto Sepulveda Boulevard, and there was a mobile home that's about eight feet wide. So we would go in there and look at these trailers. We got ready to leave.
My husband was ready to start the car, and I said, oh, look. And I pointed, and here was a cottony white cloud. And down in the, of the bell-shaped type of, we watched, watched it for about five or ten minutes, and then it just disappeared just like that. Yes, they, I don't know if I know the correct terminology, ionizing, ionize the atmosphere. Very white. Very cottony looking. And this same psychic, Ralph Martine, called us July 8th.
And he said, have you been outside in the last half hour or so? And I said, no, we haven't. Well, he said, step outside. And he says, you've got 180 degrees of spaceship clouds all the way around. So we went outside, and it was really something to watch. And they were just beautiful oval-shaped clouds, most of them. And we were wondering, well, you know, how could this be? We're seeing things.
And yesterday, and I said, how did Ralph know that these were spaceship clouds? Well, she said, it's what we heard out at George Van Tassel's, that you look for this very white cottony cloud, and sometimes you can see the shape of a spaceship in it. Well, that's when I told her of our first time. When we see something like this, it's a fact, and we think we've seen it again. Yes. It was July 8th.
That newspaper article I gave Lee. We've been going to some meetings in Joshua Tree the first Friday of each month. And Robert Shore. Robert puts on a meeting at his home. And then he goes into trance, generally around 930. And he receives an old monitor recording, supposedly from Saturn. And this comes to him. His voice changes, gets a little bit deeper, half an hour, 45 minutes or so.
And then he sends out copies, and I sent some to the Yates recently. You should be watching for spaceships that there will be more sightings from now on. California is one of the places where they'll be seen. In Joshua Tree. Years ago, when we first got in this field, I remember seeing a newspaper. I think you might have had it, Barbara. You know, one of these half-sized papers, and it showed Robert Shore in his front yard in Highland Park. Someone took his picture in front of his home, and when they developed it, it had the spaceship in the picture.
And I guess ever since then, he's been following this up, and now he's been able to become a, what do they call them, a channel. Now, if you get your tickets out. Yeah. 1 1 1 1 1
