[00:00] Opening remarks and introduction
We've talked quite a little bit about tonic law, understanding, and so forth, and we now talk about spiritual growth and development, and to accept me as part of that change within your family. I know that Dan and I have a very special work to do for understanding. I know that understanding is to become tremendously important in the future, considering the cataclysmic nature of the earth changes that are predicted by practically every psychic in this country, and I'm proud and happy to accept my responsibility with him to work with all of you people in understanding who are going to be also so very important in
preserving the way of life that is to be the pattern of life for the future. I would like to invite you all to... If you come to Tonic Hall to visit us, there is opportunity unlimited there in helping us to set up an international center of which you'll be proud to know that you've had a part in farming for the preservation of peaceful civilizations. Thank you. Thank you, Florence. I anticipate just a little bit of problem with this speaker.
I'm going to have to get it pinned on to my person somehow because I'm going to have to start using the blackboard. But for those of you, I think perhaps some of you are a little bit at sea at this point. We've talked quite a little bit about Tonic Hall, understanding and so forth, and we now find there are at least a few people who have never been to a meeting here before and quite possibly don't know anything about Tonic Hall. So perhaps I should say that this is... This is a research and cultural center established by Understanding Incorporated about 50 miles
due west of Phoenix, Arizona on Interstate 10, just off Interstate 10 as we go from Brightwood, Phoenix. But we have eight buildings on the place. Our main assembly hall has 11 bedrooms for those of you who want to come out and visit. We have a kitchen. We have all facilities for quite a number of people out there. So when you get a chance, come out and visit us and spend a weekend there, and we will have a number of talks on very interesting subjects.
We'll have a nice evening and get-togethers and meetings and so forth, and I'm sure you'll have a great deal of enjoyment there. We are putting up a pyramid as a part of our research. We're putting up a pyramid, it's a 1-47th replica, scale replica, scale model of the Cheops, and it is built to exactly a 51-degree, 51-minute angle, which is supposed to be the critical dimension in a pyramid. Of course, you have, yeah, whenever, when we finish here, why, take a good look at the pictures, and that'll, as the Chinese say, a picture is worth 10,000 words.
And that's really nice, it saves me from saying the 10,000 words, since I have a few other words to say anyway than that. But it's a research place, there's 55 acres out there, big buildings, we have our own wells, our own very good water, have our own gardens there, our own farm, which we are growing our own produce and so on. We are making it this completely self-sufficient. We have a solar energy project that started to actually produce, not research here, to actually produce the energy that we will need on the place and so on.
My subject tonight is the curve of development, the road map, an attempt to create a road map of the path followed by every human soul from its inception to its final blending with the Earth. Thank you. Thank you. The Great Cosmic Union of Souls, sometimes called, and soul in elongation in the individual body and the soul rejoins the Great Union. For this purpose, I will be using the blackboard to credit considerable degree, because quite
a bit of it has to be shown to be really remembered, it has to be drawn visually as well as just staged. For many generations, I think we remembered that the human race had been accumulated in countless bits of knowledge wisdom and philosophy in their continuing efforts to make their lives more meaningful and more productive as well as more pleasant especially those who attend meetings like this are interested in what we call metaphysics or the advanced studies of the aspects of human life and development we read books and these books have sayings in them and we sort of memorize the sayings and we hear bits of philosophy a philosopher says this and
that and the other and so we memorize all these because we think or we at least try to remember them because we think they should be significant in our life but too often however these bits of knowledge wisdom and philosophy are isolated items with no readily apparent connection between them the result is that we continue to most of our lifetime to gather and to store these items in our memory but with little effort to create from them any comprehensive and understandable patterns upon which to fashion our life it is possible however to create such patterns
and when they are created and understood they can make life far more meaningful and more productive the pattern that i'm going to discuss this evening is created from data which has been known to almost every student of life and its significance but which is seldom put together in any truly understandable pattern in its essence it is a road map of the development of the human soul showing the point at which that development begins the direction and the nature of its journey its final goal in describing a number of waypoints which are reached en route the reference and quotations used are not mine but are taken from among the best known and most authoritative sources which is to afford so far as can be determined the pattern does not conflict with
any tenets of any known religion nor any accepted rule of science but it does bring the two into a much more understandable relationship with each other we've done very badly science and religion got separated accidentally several thousands of years ago there was a time when science and religion were one and the same studies and then a gentleman named daryl saddle who i will speak about later in a moment i wrote a couple of books which i will have to speak about without any real intention we started to split between what we now call science and what we now call religion or what we now refer to as physics and what we refer to as metaphysics
in the first american dictionary of the english language published by noah webster in 1826 the word science has only one definition is defined as quote the orderly and intelligently directed search for truth those things definitely i never think of it as reading out today modern dictionaries you find about half a page under the word science and you find dozens of different definitions but if you take any one of them and assign it to its ultimate meaning that's exactly what it means the orderly and intelligently directed search for truth now a few people realize it but this means that a
person if he is studying reincarnation for example who is researching an incarnation who is researching in hypnotism who's researching in any metaphysical subject and is conducting that research in an orderly and intelligently directed manner. He was just as much of a scientist as a man who was working in a dark laboratory with three of his hands trying to build a bomb big enough to blow up the whole world at once in order to save the trouble of making trouble. And that is how we usually think of science today. We think of science as something that is striving desperately to make destructive products. Science, true science, doesn't really make anything destructive
at all. They simply examine nature and the advanced knowledge of man. But it's other men, usually not scientists, who take the knowledge of science and convert it to destructive purposes. But science is properly defined as the orderly and intelligently directed search for truth, no matter what that direction may lead in, no matter what truth it is that is being sought. It's the fact that it's orderly and intelligently directed. It is valid science. Under this definition, science as a whole can be divided into three major parts for the purpose of discussion and understanding. They can't be divided precisely because the sections overlap and the last common to one are common to all of
them. The first division is usually referred to as the physical or material science. It deals with the physical needs and environment of science. The physical needs and environment of man and the nature of the physical universe in which man dwells. You are all, I'm sure, familiar with the physical science. In this division, we find the study of physics, mathematics, astronomy, chemistry, and so forth. The second division is known as the social science. It deals with the relationship between man and his fellow man and with the means by which that relationship may be made more successful, more productive, and more intelligent. The physical science in the science of man and the knowledge of science as a whole is not
a science of structure speaking, there's nothing that can prevent that. We're just there in trying to understand the power of that science, that very need to remember that it's about being able to understand how around man's constitution, being able to perceive AFP, and everything else along those lines. activation, I'm also , problem of creating a scientific foundation for the social science, so that it can actually become the science that is frequently referred to as being, but actually has never been,
and is not now, the social science that actually consists of the social act. The third division is known as the spiritual science. It deals with the relationship between man and that great creative power and intelligence that pervades and controls all of nature, but is still somewhat beyond the analysis and the understanding of man. We usually refer to this power and intelligence as God. All of the science in the universe will come under one of these three heads, although we cannot draw a sharp line between them, because the divisions overlap and the fundamental laws describing all three divisions are identical. They are the same.
Since it may be difficult, especially for the physicist, to accept the idea that the basic laws of physics are the same as those that govern the development of the human soul, part of this discussion will be devoted to the illustration of a few of the common reference points which demonstrate that this statement is indeed a valid one, that the basic rules that govern all three divisions of science are the same law. For simplicity and for better understanding, the illustrations will be placed upon a single type, which we will draw one line at a time, with appropriate explanations of each line as it is drawn.
In the year 1905 A.D., a young German mathematician named Albert Einstein presented to the scientific community a technical paper which he called a theory of special case relativity. In the first serious consideration of this theory, he wrote, A group of some twenty-two of the most prominent scientists and mathematicians in the world examined and discussed the paper. The unanimous decision that the concepts presented in the paper were, and I quote, erroneous, invalid, absurd, and that the paper represented only an arrogant attempt upon the part of a callow youth, Einstein was twenty-six at the time, an arrogant attempt upon the part of a callow youth to instruct his elders in a field in
which they were far more advanced than he. Nevertheless, as the years went by, more and more value was found to be amongst these concepts, and some of them became tools which are now in daily use in every laboratory of physics in the world. One of the best known and the least understood of these concepts is that which results in the mathematical formula E equals mc squared. You've all heard of it, I'm sure. It's one of the most common statements performed, by far the best known of Einstein's mathematics, but it's also by far the least understood. In the latter years of his life, whenever anyone mentions special case relativity and
asks Einstein questions about it, he says, You'll have to ask the other mathematicians since they've got two building on my original figures, I don't understand it myself anymore. . It's one of the least understood, best known and least understood of all Einstein's workings. This concept is, though very simple, basically it points out that there is a simple relationship between pure matter, or mass, and pure energy. That a given quantity of one may be converted into a precise quantity of the other by a precisely defined curve of convergence. The formula E equals mc squared means simply that the quantity of energy may
be measured in ergs, which is inherent in each gram of mass, is equal to the square of the quantity c, which is defined as the velocity of light, but actually represents a number equal to about 3 to the 10th power of centimeters per second. The square of this number is, of course, the 20th power of 9, and the 20th power of 9 is a very large number. Or an amount of energy equal to about 25 million kilowatt hours per gram of mass by converter. The formula E equals mc squared means if you could convert one gram of mass to pure energy, it would yield about 25 million kilowatt hours of energy. You can see how the power company was treating me. They give you about one kilowatt hour for a nickel,
which is a penny. A penny contains about three grams of mass. For about 75 million horsepower hours of energy, if it's matter, we're completely converted to energy. You get about 75 million kilowatt hours for a penny. The power company just gives you one kilowatt hour for a nickel. Of course, they haven't figured out how to convert it to pure energy, and neither have I. I think probably neither has anyone else on this planet, which happens to be very, very fortunate, I'm sure, for the people of this planet. If we wish to illustrate the mass-energy concept by the simplest possible way, we might begin by drawing a horizontal line across the bottom
of our chart, calling this line matter. I'm going to begin to construct this chart now as I read the notes. I'm going to begin to construct the chart so that you can see exactly. And this may have sounded very technical and a little boring up to this point. But it is necessary to bring science and religion back together because they were separated by accident. And this is one of the things that I'm going to do. It's called the bottom line matter, or self-formed materials, or mass. Einstein clearly pointed out that matter is equivalent to matter for that purpose. He hasn't found one of these that is thoughtless.
Matter, or mass, is the bottom line. At the top, he would have drawn another line, which he would call energy. Energy is a relatively new word that didn't exist in the early recent times. And so other words were used to mean the same thing. Energy is defined as the ability to create change. The ability to create change. It's the only real valid definition you can give for energy. Force is a tendency to create movement or tendency on the part of matter to change positions.
Energy is the ability, inherent ability, to create change. So there were various words used to indicate the same concepts in the early days, which we will get to in a moment. But right now, beginning with Einstein's work, if you were going to iterate it graphically, he said the amount of energy inherent in each quantity of matter is equal to a certain amount. And that follows a curve. That isn't exactly an asymptotic curve, but that's just what that makes sense to me. And down here would be one gram.
One gram of matter converted to energy would equal to nine. Nine times ten to the twentieth power eggs are about 25 million kilowatt hours. One gram of matter. Now, the graphic representation of the relationship between that and energy is implicit in mathematics of Einstein. It was by no means new or original when presented to the world in 1905. This is something that isn't too well realized. It was considered something darn new.
And the mathematics themselves were. But the concept was not. The same concept has been presented by a number of great philosophers, some of whose work dates back almost as far as the written history of this time. Although the languages were different and the various terms were used to describe the matter and the energy levels, in every case the basic concept could best be illustrated by the use of the same gas. In the year 384 B.C., a son was born to Nicomancus, who was at the time the personal physician
to King Amentus of Greece, the male Macedonius. This son, who was given the name of Aristotle, was destined to become one of the most prolific philosophers of all time. He developed almost from birth a highly introspective nature. And as soon as he had learned to speak, he began to question his parents and their friends concerning the nature of life, the purpose of life, and its environment. At the age of seventeen, he was sent to Athens to continue his studies. Here he became a member of Plato's Academy, where he remained until the death of Plato
in 248 B.C. After Plato's death, Aristotle, in the company of Gennacides, moved to Arthas, where he undertook to establish a special type of community under the auspices of Herminius Carillo of Aquinas. It was here that the nature of his work changed, perhaps for the first time, from analysis to synthesis. That is, he began to curate and to teach his own philosophy. He also began to write the first of the two great works for which he is sensibly remembered, and with which we are somewhat concerned in this talk.
In 344 B.C., he married Pythias, the daughter of Herminius, and moved to Mytilene on the island of Lesbos, where he completed his first great work, and where he first met Theophastus, who later became his most ardent disciple. The work to which we refer is that which, in the present-day translation, is known as V. Thesis. Now, any of you can go to any of these large libraries in the Los Angeles area, and you can get that book, I'm sure, in the library. We have the book originally written by Aristotle, and now sold under the name V. Thesis.
Not just Thesis, but V. Thesis. The work to which we refer is that which, in the present-day translation, is known as V. Thesis. Its text written in the style of Aristotle's day is exceedingly verbose and somewhat difficult for the beginning student to follow. There isn't very much demand for that book, though, V. Thesis from the library, because hardly anyone can bear to get beyond the first or second chapter. In those days the art of writing was considered to contribute to the development of the modern
considered to consist in using the greatest possible number of words to express the simplest possible concept. And you have to discard about nine out of every ten words if you really want to get to the meaning of it. I mean, the little jewel or gem of meaning is smothered in a whole slather of words. And so it's quite difficult to read it. But if you do, if you reduce it to its basic principles, it is actually quite similar to books on physics which are written today. It names and describes the basic principles or factors of the universe, beginning with matter or material essence, and energy, which is defined as cause or potential or spirit. The text goes
[26:56] Main address
on to describe the effects upon matter and any form of energy is applied to it. That is exactly what the physics textbook is today. It deals with the nature of matter and the changes that occur when you change the energy level. When you add light energy, heat energy, kinetic energy, the energy of motion, or any other kind of energy, that matter will manifest some change. Aristotle pointed out that matter without energy cannot manifest in any way. It is merely an energy of which something of significance can be made only by the addition of energy. But something down at this level, can't manifest at all. It has no significance. It is merely an essence of which you make something
by adding energy or by raising it up the curve toward the energy level. Thus he created the embryo science of physics and coined the name by which it is known today. In the year 342 B.C., Aristotle was summoned to Cala by King Philip of Macedonia to educate his son Alexander, who later became known as Alexander the Great. This task, he occupied him until about 335 B.C. when he returned to Athens to found his own school known as Elysium. During the years which had passed since the writing of these physics,
Aristotle had grown a little wiser as well as a little older. And it had begun to occur to him that in writing the physics there were perhaps a few things that he had left out. When he completed the text of physics, he thought his work was done. He decided this matter, an essence which, has no significance, and can be given significance only by the adding of energy. He picked out as high up the line as could be conceived at that time, close as work, thinking his works had been done. As he grew older,
then he occurred to him that there were few things he had left out. Perhaps he'd started the wrong ones at the beginning. He then decided to write a sequel to his first work. In the sequel, he found a reason to write his first work. he pointed out that matter, instead of being considered as the starting point, was actually the final manifestation of creative factors which started at a much higher level. And physics is beginning to do that now, for a century or so, such physics has existed all the way to the start of the statement matter-wise. We can't say how matter came into existence, it was here, matter-wise, and then he began
to study the nature of matter and the changes that occur and the energy-level changes, and that was the study of physics. Now, most physics textbooks start with a speculation that perhaps before matter-wise, energy-wise. Perhaps this huge explosion of matter that created the galaxies, perhaps at one time it was all energy before it became matter, that the first form was that of energy or spirit or God before it became matter as a final manifestation. So he decided to write a sequel, and this time, he started with the top. He said in the beginning, in his first book, he said, in the beginning matter-wise, and
said the changes exist in matter. In his second book, he started at the top, he added a number of names, which are energy, spirit, cause, and God, all at the top line. These were the things, these were the essence of creation, these were where everything started. He pointed out that energy is... the cause of all changes that occur in the universe, and that therefore energy and cause are the same, and that spirit is the actual principle of change and of growth, and that without these principles, the universe would have no significance whatsoever.
That these principles, therefore, obviously are the attributes of God and must be shown at any point where creation begins. And so he began at the top. He then proceeded to draw his curve of development from the top line downward toward matter. Pointing out that matter without energy or spirit can have no significance and simply is an essence which can achieve significance only through the application of the creator's principles. The curve illustrated by Aristotle's second discourse proved to be identical with the
first, but because he had started at the top rather than at the bottom, his second discourse was above his first one. And because it came after his first one, it was... It was a sequel to his first one, and he called his second discourse Meta-Physic. It simply means above and beyond his first book. It was a sequel. That's all it really meant to him. His first book was Physic.
The second book, instead of starting down here, he started up here. And also it was a sequel, so it came after. And the word Meta simply means above and beyond. And he added Meta to his first, which was Meta-Physic, which was above and beyond his first book. Those were the only difference, the only significant difference to him. The first book, he started here and said Meta-Way, and as you add energy, very things happen, which you can see along the way, and we'll get to those in a minute.
As you move up toward the pure energy level, where you have energy without mass or matter, down here you have matter without energy, here you have energy or spirit without matter. In the Bible, Jesus acknowledged this in describing being born again. He said, you must be born of the spirit. His disciples said, how can a man enter again into his mother's womb and be born again? He said, listen to the body, but the spirit that is born again. And they asked him to define that. And he says, the wind bloweth, and you feel the pressure thereof, but cannot tell whence
it comes or whither it goes. As such, either you are born of the spirit. So he was talking about this energy of cause or level of spirit here. That is the home of the spirit or the soul. And that is what it always seems. And it has been embodied in a physical form. It always seems to guide the physical form up toward its home. The body's home is here.
The starting point is matter, pure matter without manifestation, without significance. It is given by the spirit up toward the final level of pure energy. So he coined, in naming the two texts, Aristotle coined the two poems and presented the two courses of philosophic inquiry. They are still described by those same two poems, Stasics and Metaphysics. So he, at that point, created a diversion. He created a diversion between two methods of inquiry, which actually are the same. But it is seldom that the student, a Stasic, realizes that his course is the same as the
student of Metaphysics. Today, anyone who is a Stasic is a Stasic. Today, anyone who begins with the statement matter way and begins to study the changes that take place in matter as you add energy to it is studying physics. If a study is successful and he becomes a scholar, he is known as a physicist. If he starts by saying God was energy way, matter way, and begins to trace this curve down toward matter as a final manifestation, here he is studying Metaphysics. If his studies were successful and he becomes a scholar, he is known as a metaphysician.
But here the people realize that they have followed exactly the same course. And it's the purpose of this lecture tonight to show you why it's the same course and some of the reference points that you will meet and write, whichever way you go. It's the same curve whichever end you start at. But this is seldom realized by any students of physics, and not too often by any students of metaphysics. There's relatively little respect left between students of the two courses. The physicist is fond of saying, oh, that's all interesting, but I don't want to have too much to do with that metaphysician. He is working up there in this field, in the area where there are no proofs, when the commonest objections of physics to metaphysics.
He's working up there in the field. He's working up there in the area where there are no proofs. It's the same statement. But the fact remains that every once in a while the physicist, working up in the area where there are no proofs, nevertheless succeeds in finding some proofs. But it's not completely acceptable to the physicist that he immediately seizes upon the material and makes it a part of the ordinary body of physics. With the result that about 90% of everything that is in physics textbooks today was metaphysics 100 years ago. And you can, if you read the textbooks, you can find any number of examples.
You read textbooks that describe the great early physicists of our time, those who propounded the profound rules of physics that are now completely accepted. You read the autobiography of those men. Hardly any of them were actually considered physicists during their lifetime at all. In almost every case, there were metaphysicians, and they were considered by their contemporaries to be some of the greatest stockpots ever found. I read what was said first about Einstein's mathematics. Invalid, absurd, only an arrogant attempt upon a part of a calorie used to instruct his debtors in a field in which they were far more advanced than he. But he was really working more for metaphysics than he was for physics.
The German mathematician, a young German mathematician named Max Planck, followed the same route. He took a principle straight from metaphysics, and he made of it a tool which is today in daily use in every metaphysical laboratory in the country. On this curve, we're going to outline only a few of the major steps through which the development of the soul takes place, and the reference points which enable the stages to be recognized. But when the concept has been fully grasped, each individual will readily recognize many subdivisions of the major stages together with their points of reference.
You can work it, you can build this thing up to any length you want for stuff. There is one more point that I will bring in in this, that this curve here is significant in many, many ways. We have an old, which is called Alchemist, which is called Alchemy. If you get any book on chemistry today, any textbook on chemistry, almost all of them will mention in the process that Alchemy was the father of chemistry. But of course, the old folk used it that way.
They really didn't know what they were doing. They just got interested in it, and they were interested later. And so now we know what we're doing. Now we're very smart, but the old boys didn't know very much. And they were completely mistaken. They were just gibbering nonsense. And our scientists today seem not to realize that our descendants, 15 or 20 generations from now,
will be saying exactly the same thing about us. They'll be saying what gibberies our present scientists were studying compared to the concepts that are existing then. But when you take a number of men, those people who were interested in Alchemy at that time were the most educated, the most intelligent, the most thoughtful men in the world at the time. And then you take highly intelligent, highly educated,
very thoughtful men, and give them long periods of time to think. And they had long periods of time to think in those days, which you hardly ever have today. You cannot lightly describe the conclusions which they reached. There will be validity in them, and in the science of chemistry today, we just sort of thoughtlessly describe everything that was discovered or considered more than 50 years ago.
It's more or less automatically described. And we remember this sometimes. And we remember that some of these old folks used to say that the science called Alchemy, but we don't really realize what the significance of their work was. But one of the things that the alchemists did was to divide the universe into four basic principles. There's no chemist about us to try to understand today,
although we should be able to understand it with a single glance. They divided the universe into four basic principles, which they called Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Earth is matter. The word Earth itself refers to matter. It does not basically refer to this planet. We took this word and applied it to our planet, because our planet is solid matter.
But the word Earth in its original translation simply meant matter. We have still in chemistry the rare Earths, those solid-shaped forms of matter, elements which are rather rare. I call the rare Earths in chemistry today. It's synonymous with the word matter. And up here they had water. Water.
Up here they had air. Up here they had fire. Now what these four divisions actually represented was the four manifestations of energy levels. If you took a certain quantity of water and you reduced it to absolute zero, you took all the energy out of it, it would be in a solid state.
It would be what they call a solid state matter without energy. The lowest level of energy it can be, zero energy, just matter without energy. If you gradually added heat energy to that block of ice, at a certain point,
which we call 32 degrees Fahrenheit or zero degrees centigrade, it would suddenly manifest a change of state. It would suddenly manifest the fact that it had acquired that much energy by changing into a form which we call water. If we continued to add heat energy at another level,
which we call 100 degrees centigrade or 212 degrees Fahrenheit, it would suddenly manifest another change, showing that it had now acquired that much energy by becoming what we call steam. That actually is the term that air means, the gaseous state of matter.
Air refers to the gaseous state of matter. What we usually think of as air is a combination of oxygen and nitrogen. Most of the nitrogen, a little oxygen, and a few other air elements that happen to go around the Earth. But it's in the gaseous state.
It represents the gaseous state. If we could bring the electrons of that atom of water in until they contacted the nucleus, they would be converted completely into energy. We would have the highest level of pure energy, which they referred to as fire, because fire was the only means they had
of illustrating the conversion of matter to energy. They called the radiation of pure energy from chemical conversion, and so they called that highest state or the state that indicated the release of pure energy, and they called that the level of fire. So we have Earth, water, air, and fire,
the four divisions of the universe, which are simply four levels of increasing energy, starting from matter without energy, going through the various stages of energy accumulation, winding up with pure energy without matter, or a complete conversion of matter to energy, which is exactly what the curve at Einstein's curve illustrated here.
So it's on the same gaseous state, but this was done several hundred years B.C. The first gaseous state of alchemy was done several hundred years B.C. and illustrated the same principle that Einstein's mathematics illustrated in 1905. It illustrated something that we will go on to prove the significance
or show the significance of it. Very quickly, we're digging in one other form. We had, we mentioned alchemy, one of the original sciences, now referred to in many textbooks as pseudoscience. We have another science, we've done about ten,
which is called astrology. Almost any textbook, on chemistry today, will have in the foreword the admission that astrology was the mother of astronomy. But of course, astrology was a pseudoscience. Those old folks in the old days
didn't know what they were talking about. They just developed an interest in the subject that has now resulted in us actually learning. Now we know. Now we're wise. Now we're smart. Now we know the truth. And we know those old boys
were just gibbering about it. They didn't know what they were talking about. But they divided time into twelve divisions. They took the thing called the precession of the equinox and they divided it into about twenty-six thousand years.
And they divided those by twelve and they got twelve times of the zodiac. That is the apparent movement of the sixty stars in the heavens. They divided them into twelve periods. And we are moving on from one of those periods today into the next.
How many know which they are? We are moving from the water sign Pisces into the earth sign of Aquarius. According to them, the advanced thinking of the earth is just about there. Civilization of humanity on earth
is just about here. The more the most advanced. There can be anywhere below that. But the most advanced is just about reaching there. Just between water and earth. Now you can liken this thing. This is the curve up which
the soul's development takes place. You can liken this to an escalator. You can rise up on it. You can be carried to heaven on flowery beds of ease if you've got enough patience. You don't have to walk if you don't want to.
But it takes an awful lot of patience. If they forget from here to here it's about twenty-two thousand years. Now if you've got that much patience you don't have to walk. But especially if you're ladies present if you hear of a big bargain sale at the department store downtown
and they're going to have a lot of good clothing at half price and you get down to the door before the store opens and you're all going up there until you've seen the doors open and everybody writes us in. So you ladies back and you say
well I'll take the escalator up. I'll just let it carry me up. You aren't going to buy very much because everybody else is going to run up the steps ahead of you and everything, all the bargains are going to be bad before you get there. So this is an escalator
and you can walk up on it. You don't have to wait for it to carry you up. And we all are walking up on it at one level or another. Some very slowly some more rapidly. But this gives
astrology gives us a period of time between two instruments here just so we can see what's going on and what's not going to happen. And that's why it's called the escalator.
And that's why it's called the escalator. And that's why it's called the escalator. And that's why it's called the escalator. And it has two instruments here,
just so we can see what it is. Incidentally, with regard to alchemy and astrology, search books today say oh they were ...
of the but chemistry and astronomy today are adolescence sciences. ... and there is one thing that is always true of the adolescent.
He feels a tremendous necessity to disown his talents. And that's when that It's natural, it's necessary, a youth, when he reaches a certain point, has to begin to cut the open strings. He's now going to become a separate, independent individual. He's got to cut those strings in which he's dependent for so long.
He does it automatically by beginning to reject his son. I can remember when my own son wouldn't walk alongside me on the street. He'd walk about ten feet behind me and say, I don't want anybody to know I'm related to you. He's very proud to walk beside me now, because since then he's been to college, and when he came back from college he was very surprised to find out how much I had learned while he was gone. But it is true, I mean, the parents who have children who are about to enter adolescence
don't become worried when that phenomena takes place, because it will. The adolescent child has to cut the open strings, and he doesn't actually deny his parents, he will admit that his parents have done it. But, of course, they're old fogies who don't really know anything anymore. We're now in the new age, we now know the facts, we now know the truth. And, of course, this has been going on for hundreds of centuries. Every generation is the same. It learns the truth, and it stands for old fogies.
And so the astrologers and the alchemists are old fogies whose conclusions aren't really considered enough today to really learn what they mean. But there was many months when they said those things. But there was significance to them. And so I think our time has come to be good. I think we've learned the answer to the question of the question question and the question of the answer. You showed to me the difference between what is good and what is bad.
And I can't see the difference between the two, because you know, a person who has a lot of good and a lot of bad, it's hard to determine what it is that he has to do with it. But if you have a human soul, I'm not really interested in the opposite. Place it... I mean, if I had a human soul, I'd say, well, it's enough to grow to know that it's healthy and that it's healthy and that it's healthy and that it's healthy and... Right, it's healthy and it's healthy and it's healthy.
More than anything else ... as matter and spirit. I should put Aristotle's words up here too. Spirit, cause, energy, God, because God is the sum total of every creative element. And he also even called this level heaven, because that's what God is supposed to be. So this is the level where things begin. This is the level of creation. Everything begins here. It doesn't actually move up here as the body does, because it is recasting the steps of the soul that came down to the beginning to bring the body up to reach this path. So every individual beginning this travel is a combination of matter and spirit. The physical body is an energy, a cause, spirit.
And it is the spirit that impels the body constantly up this path. The question will arise, at what point is someone on this path? What do I call this point here where the travel begins? And I have called that the I am point. Realize I may come into condemnation if the I am group, because I used their words for this point. It doesn't have anything to do with the agitator meaning, the I am group. This means I am. When an individual says I am, he's conscious of his own existence. And this is a very significant thing that is seldom brought to the consciousness. I worked for many, many years in space work, and specifically in the designing of instruments
that could see. We had to create electronic instruments that could perform every function of the human body, because the missiles we produced at that time couldn't carry human beings. The environment was too strong and the being couldn't have survived. Even an animal couldn't have survived in the early ones. So we had to create electronic instruments that could sense all the things that were going on around it, convert it into electrical signals, and send it back, and then they could be converted back. And we had to create electronic instruments that could send it back into understandable data here. So we had to build instruments, electronic
instruments, that duplicated all of the five normal senses of the human body. And we built very good ones. We built instruments that could see, feel, hear, smell, and taste, that could do it much, much faster than any human sense did, in many cases much more precisely. And my fellow workmen, every once in a while, would do it much, much faster than any human sense did, in many cases much more precisely. And my fellow workmen, every once in a while, would do it much, much faster than any human sense did, in many cases much more precisely. And we built computers now that can take in these electronic signals, and convert them. We built several mechanisms that can receive commands from a computer and can perform very complex
mechanical actions. We can send items, we can send things to the moon and their files to scoop up earth and then bring it back to the earth here. Why don't we build a superman? Why don't we build a superman? Why don't we build a superman who can do this? Why don't set of sensing instruments hook it up with a computer hook it up with several machinations and blow superman it would be infinitely greater than any human it would take a pretty big day i mean the best manifestation we've got to do it would take a building somewhat bigger than the empire state building to put all those things in to the same extent that they exist in the human body so our manifestation is long haste in being complete but i always had to point out here that
there's one thing we could never put into that robot we hadn't the finest idea how to go about it and that was the realization that it existed no robot no ever no matter how sensitive it is no matter how quickly it responds to applied stimulus no robot has ever realized that it existed year 2001 movie per contrary not responding it's the one technical bible that was made in the first century of the early 20th century it was written in the early 20th century like this movie they built a computer called how it knew that it existed not only knew that it existed but plotted against its programmers since no computer has ever done it no computer has ever said i am nor has one ever wondered why that is exclusively the prohibitive of the thinking being
as a combination of body and spirit because combination of body and spirit to say i am and to wonder why the robot one ever did so when the being reaches a point where it says i am and it faces begins to wonder why we say that's the starting point it's nice starting up this curve well when a being first comes into the world the first thing it realizes is it has a multitude of needs because it is a being of matter it needs a multitude of things to survive it has to food. It also has some kind of shelter when the weather is uncommon. It also has some kind of protection. It needs some clothing. It becomes aware of a multitude of needs, personal immediate
needs for survival. And so it starts working toward a level which in this case I have called gold. I use that term originally simply because gold is the best known symbol for the needs and desires of the body, or at least the means to satisfy those needs and desires. The word gold is considerably synonymous with money, with medium of change, or everything else. That is the word that signifies the needs and desires of the physical body, gold. That is the first thing we realize we need. That is the first thing for which we strive, the personal necessities of survival, the personal comforts of survival, and the desires of the body we refer to as gold.
Now there is a great danger at this point. Many people in reaching this point think they have arrived and get off. There is a land in here and they get off and they look down and say, gee, I've arrived. I was struggling to this point, I made it, I'm here. There was a gentleman, a Scots-American steel manufacturer, his name was Andrew Carnegie, who steel was, between the largest in the world, admitted in his own subsequent writings that he had lingered far longer on the gold level than was good for any man. He had gotten off there, he had lingered there. He admitted in his writings that his tremendous fortune was built mostly upon the worn-out bodies of his employees and the ruined hopes of his competitors. But,
when he admitted, he had lingered far longer on the gold level than was good for any man. He had worked far too long on his level and it was time they were trying to get off and just on her own. But in his sojourn on his level, he had labored so mightily and so successfully that he was able in his later years to contribute more than $250 million for the endowment of institutions of learning and human relations. In his founding of more than 2,800 public libraries, such the Carnegie Institute in Washington, the Carnegie Institute of knowledge in pittsburgh he assisted greatly in speeding the progress of humanity toward the second level he realized he'd laid it here too long and so he wanted to help the other fellow
men to get up to the next level faster and they call this their level of knowledge knowledge now the word knowledge refers to an assembly of facts an accumulation of facts you get them and you put them in the brain like you put tools in a tool chest each one of those facts that you learn is a tool is a possible tool that you can use for some purpose but there is a danger here too of getting sidetracked it isn't as great a danger as here almost 50 percent of all the people in the world get sidetracked for at least for a time here some of some people never get beyond it in any one lifetime but there are people who reach this level and also think they're
right i'm very fortunate in that respect whenever i begin to think i've arrived someone tells me where to get off but there are people who reach this level and get off they're readily recognizable you find them mostly in colleges and universities they're known all kind of uh they don't really get any respect people think they're well they're nice old cadres they're known they have an endless number of amount of knowledge you know what type i'm talking about people it's important all day long and i they have a tremendous box of tools on their shoulders but they can't seem to do anything with it they've reached this level and they've got off
they said we've arrived we've arrived we have knowledge we've arrived you don't have to do anything wrong and so they say those who are going on look back and they say oh it's the old fossils and soldiers too they have a number of knowledge they've got the biggest top box of tools in the world and they can't even do the simplest plumbing job with it so these are the ones that are hung up on the level of knowledge above the level of knowledge there's one other level here which we will call wisdom now some people confuse knowledge and wisdom there's nothing like it at all there are three levels here which were described by solomon in the bible very precisely and very repeatedly to point out the difference between them
but there are three different levels of achievement the acquiring of knowledge the acquisition of knowledge is gathered together as a bunch of tools the word wisdom refers to the if you look in the dictionary and what's the dictionary that defines wisdom as the ability to use the tools of knowledge to design worthwhile projects and methods of reaching those goals so wisdom is the blueprint of the new building which we're going to build with the tools of knowledge but wisdom is not the building itself it is that a guarantee that a building will be successfully built you have to have still one other tool until above the level of wisdom we have one more
and carding is up i'm giving us up the level of development a little faster than we're actually moving we have to move to the next level a little faster than we're already moving forward in order to improve the development of our world this is the first weeks of our course the third week i would like to start with free speech and that it will be with all the other kids that are getting into it they're teaching me how to speak so many different words and we need to work on it we need to learn to use them best and to learn to use all of them we're going to move forward in those classes today and as you look in the next few weeks i'm going to
far enough down the road it looks like two foes are standing right together they're actually just as far apart as the foes are where you're standing but then looking down the track they appear to be very close together understanding is the ability to make use of the blueprint of wisdom and the tools of knowledge to create the successful construction it is a road map understanding wisdom is the road map understanding is the journey which the road map represents you need all three of them therefore get your knowledge get your wisdom and with all i get and get understanding when you have the three then you can you can complete your structure with no hazard there's no danger you can complete your journey
this is about as far as the human mind usually can comprehend travel on that track and i say even looking from down here somewhere where many of us still are these are little days or something where we say they're just because we've created words they're words in the dictionary we've created words that were not to share precisely what they mean there are however levels above that on this curve and one of the greatest teachers in fact the greatest teacher that ever visited this planet in many more times came here for the primary purpose of illustrating the points that were beyond that life and man in the manifestation the ministry of jesus was designed to illustrate that every
human being on earth was going to follow this curve was going to go through these steps of knowledge wisdom understanding and those that are beyond understanding as he constantly pointed out the first one that was beyond now these are just the general steps when you really grasp this you can put in a lot of other reference points i neglected in the beginning i said i was going to show you a few reference points that proved that this in physics was the same curve german mathematician named max tank gave to the world a paper called law of radiation in which he demonstrated that the energy level upon which any particle any atom any molecule
of matter exists of any given time was proportionate to its frequency and we gave to science a decimal fraction called prank's constant which is used to multiply by the person to determine the energy level on earth and it's used daily in every metaphor and every three collaboratories especially every nuclear associated laboratory in the country and in the world you couldn't operate a nuclear efficient laboratory for one day without playing songs But his work was not accepted immediately any more than was Einstein's. It was nonsense at first, and then gradually it became accepted that the energy level upon
which any particle exists at any given time is proportionate to its frequency. What does the metaphysician say? The level of energy or spirit or God upon which any particle, any body of matter or any being exists at any given time is proportionate to its rate of vibration. Now, if you can find a difference between a rate of vibration and a frequency, I don't know what it is. The two concepts are identical, and Max Planck took that concept directly out of metaphysics where it had been taught for two thousand years, and made of it a tool which is in daily
use in every physics laboratory in the country, but I bet there isn't one physicist in a thousand who knows where that concept is. That's the problem. The problem is that it's at the original time frame, and it was first begun to be accepted about 1914. It had at that time been taught in every school of metaphysics for two thousand years. But that is the principle that is discovered way up here close to the convergence of matter with energy, close to the energy level.
And starting from the level of matter, as the physicists says, it's way, way up there, and it takes a tremendous long time to discover it. Realize it almost at once. Metaphysics taught it 2,000 years ago. Max Planck brought it into physics in 1914. It's one of the many points I could go on all night putting on points on here that show that physics and metaphysics are the same course, just following certain thermophilic ends of the curve and following down the curve.
But Jesus of Nazareth, in his ministry, primarily wanted to point out to man, and he constantly repeated, I am the way, the life, and the life. What he was saying, I am making of my life here a pattern which all of you, to show all of you the way you are going. You walk in the light while I am here. Look, consider, and understand what I'm saying, because when I'm gone, if you don't, you'll be back in darkness,
and a man who walks in darkness knows not where he's going. But I want to tell you where you are going. And he constantly repeated that. Read the New Testament in light of that realization and see how much more intelligent it becomes. He was demonstrating these things. He said, beyond the level of understanding, there is another level of development which everyone will reach,
control over matter. I'm going to abbreviate the rest of them because it's a long one, and there isn't any of that. Control over matter. He said, when you reach that, it is beyond understanding. When you have fully reached that level, you see, the farther up you go, the less significant matter becomes. You're approaching the energy level, you're approaching the God level,
you're approaching the point where matter becomes less and less and less significant. I say that in lectures, that as you pass these levels, you have to carry all the knowledge with you, at least until you reach a certain point. When you are working toward the level of knowledge, you can't discard the knowledge, the ability that brought you to the goal level. As reaching the goal level simply consists of reaching the point
where you can satisfy the necessities of the body and a reasonable amount of the comforts of the body with less than your full-time activity. Because if you take your full-time activity, you're never going to be able to get any further. You're never going to have any time to devote to these further advances. But you have to carry this knowledge along, at least until you reach
this point. You have to carry the knowledge of gold along. When you reach this point, this becomes insignificant. You'll note in the Bible that while these followers did have a purse, they carried a purse, but it was designed entirely for making gifts to the poor. Where in the Bible do you find any statement or any account of why the disciples ever bought anything?
At one time they said, Let's go into the village and buy some bread for these 5,000 people. And Jesus said, There's no need to do that. Why waste the money? What have we got on hand? Well, we've got five loaves and two small faces. And Jesus said,
Well, so what? He said, There's only 5,000 people here. That ought to be plenty to feed 5,000 people. They then sat down in groups of a hundred, and he raised the bread in the face, and he blessed them, and he passed them around,
and he fed the 5,000, and they took up as a residue twelve loaves of bread. That is control over mind. I've demonstrated this many times. The first one was making wine into water. They're making water into wine. I reversed the process, which the women's sentence group would like to do.
But this was not because we thought the guests at this wedding really needed any more wine. But it was an opportunity to give an example to his disciples of the power that every one of them was going to have. But if you choose to make water into wine, certainly you can do it. At this, you're working at this level. So he performed repeatedly.
He performed it, controlling some sort of control over mind. We are trying to do it today, skipping. We are down somehow in here. I'll point it out to begin with. The more advanced thinking is somewhat down here. We haven't reached wisdom.
We have hardly any glimmering of understanding. And I run a very great chance of being stoned for saying that. In any electron space, someone always asks me if I really believe there are intelligent beings on other planets, somewhere in the galaxy. And I always say I have no doubt, whatever, that there are many intelligent beings on many planets.
And that belief gives me hope that someday there may be intelligent beings on this planet. We are not an intelligent race. We are a technological race. We pursue technology to the point where it threatens to destroy us completely. And we still blindly pursue it, and that is not intelligent.
We mistake technology for intelligence. If there is any intelligent creature on this planet, I think it's the dolphin. And science is beginning to recognize that. The dolphin, apparently, is the most intelligent creature on this planet. But certainly the creature it has by far the most fun out of life.
It's trying to fight the dolphin. It never does anything that damages itself or its environment. But we are constantly doing it. It spends its life in enjoying the life that was given to it. Helping out its fellow dolphins every once in a while.
It's a very obliging creature. Man can train it in just a few minutes or a few hours to do almost anything you want. All you have to do is demonstrate to the dolphin what you'd like him to do, and he's very glad to do it. And science is beginning to realize that. They know that dolphins do communicate
quite considerably with each other. Science is spending good effort now trying to learn that language so we can communicate with the dolphin, and maybe we can teach us a few things. We've been teaching him how to do many things, now we're hoping maybe we can teach us something. But at any rate,
we haven't reached these levels up here. As a race, there are a few people who do. There are a few people who are way up close to here, at least at times. But that's the level of control over matter at which you can feed five thousand from five or eight and two small fishes if you choose,
or convert water into wine. And Jesus demonstrated this repeatedly and each time he said, disciples, see this. I'm doing this only as a demonstration to you to see what's you. And he always, when he brought that up, he always said, see that.
To make this point, all of these things which I do, shall you do also. And greater things than these shall you do. There are still higher levels that he was going to demonstrate. And he was not talking to his disciples at all, he was talking to all of humanity.
He was saying, I am the path, I am the way, my life is showing you the routes that you're going to follow, every one of you. So beyond this is another level which we will call control over spirit in matter.
Now this is a higher level than just control over matter. Now you are beginning to deal with spirit. You're close enough to the spirit level, you can begin to deal with spirit. You're far enough above matter so you can easily deal with that. If you're approaching a level of spirit,
you can begin to deal with spirit in matter. From that level you can heal the lame, the blind, the harsh, you can cure any disease. And that takes a power higher than merely control over matter.
Because the human being is a combination of spirit and matter and you have to be able to work with both of them, you're going to heal the body. When the body is in perfect attunement, the body and spirit are in perfect attunement with each other, you aren't going to have any disease. It's only when a partial separation begins to develop
between those two entities that you can get disease. The body has the perfect defense against anything as long as therefore they're perfectly together. It's only to the degree that they begin to separate
that you can have limits. And so, to heal diseases, to heal the lame, the blind, you have to have power in both levels, both matter and spirit.
And control over spirit and matter was the next one that Jesus then stated. By causing the blind to see, the lame to walk, and curing all manner of diseases into water and flesh and water being contained
down. So the first level in which I am thinking is the body. During the level of the establishment it should be determined by the body and the spirit.
The second level is the spiritual quickness . So the ability or stylist to train the mind to follow the act of power ,
the shadow, finally turn into a self rather than a mere entity. This is an extension of what the touch to sense can really mean in a simple way to HIM .
Well, I've been reading about raz Which is nobody and the matter are still together, you can clear the problems between us. In the control of the spirit in matter, you can put spirit into matter. And Jesus on several occasions
demonstrated that. When he heard that his friend Lazarus was sick unto death and his disciples said, Come, let us rest quickly. Maybe you can still save him. Jesus said, No, let's pray a few days. He knew that Lazarus would die.
He knew that it didn't make any difference that his disciples didn't know it. They kept saying, Let's go, let's go. And Lazarus died. After a few days, Jesus said, Now let's go. And they went to visit Lazarus. And of course, his friends were all moaning him. And they began to berate Jesus
when he appeared, saying, Oh, if you had only come closer, perhaps Lazarus might have been saved. Do you know at that point, it's the shortest verse in the Bible, the only real, the only evidence of emotion that Jesus told,
the shortest verse in the Bible, Jesus wept. But he did not weep because Lazarus was dead. He knew perfectly well in another five minutes, Lazarus was going to be walking around as good as ever.
He wept in pure frustration because he couldn't get his message over to the people. He wept in pure frustration because they could not follow this pattern that he was using his whole life to illustrate. And the best word,
the best words you could think of to explain to the people. When he said, Lazarus isn't really dead, we can fix that up, they laughed him to scorn. They said, he's been dead for three days,
he's been aggrieved for three days already, his body stinks of him. You think you can do something about that? And he said, of course. From the level of control over matter,
[01:22:19] Development of the main themes
we can put his body back into shape to contain the spirit again. From the level of control over spirit, we can put the body back in. And he brought the spirit back in, into the body, and he did exactly that. And everyone marveled
it was a three-day wonder, and the word spread around a little bit, and people said, what a marvelous thing this is. And after about three days, they forgot all about it again, as people do. There was some mention made,
obviously, some people remembered it because it's setting up for this day. But again, Jesus was frustrated, he wasn't getting over it. He wasn't getting over it
to the people, but he was here to teach them where they were going. And that's what he kept saying, I'm here to show you where you are going. And so he said, I'm going to do this once more.
It's been prophesied anyhow. And he said, fulfill a prophecy. He raised two people from the dead. He demonstrated it to the girl as well as Lazarus. And each time it created a little sensation
for a couple of days, and everybody forgot about it again. He said, maybe if I used my own body, it would be a better demonstration. But those were out of Pharisees and people in the temple
who would like to get rid of me anyway, because it's been prophesied. And I've been accomplished two great tasks which I have been sent here to accomplish anyway. And so let the thing take its course.
I will let them kill me. In three days, I will raise myself, proving that the spirit is independent of the body, that even when out of the body, it can still influence the body, it can still repair the body,
it can still make the body a good place to live in, and can still re-enter the body by itself. So he said, I'll let them kill me if they would like to anyhow. And he raised them prophesied,
and he would. But he said, no one takes my life except I give it. No one could do that unless I agreed to it. There isn't anyone who could take my life
unless I voluntarily gave it up of myself. And I give it up only so that I can take it again and make this principle plain enough so that perhaps people will remember it. So he let them take him,
condemned Judas Iscariot because he paid Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Well, he didn't do it for the 30 pieces of silver. In fact, he took his 30 pieces of silver back at the people who gave it to him.
He did it because he thought this would force Jesus of Nazareth into manifesting his power. The disciples could never understand why Jesus didn't demonstrate his power and strike everyone dead that disagreed with him.
He didn't take the throne that he was entitled to. That wasn't why Jesus was here. He was here to propound something far greater than taking the throne. How many people remember any of the great kings
of this day? How many of the kings are remembered? None of them are remembered except their life had something to do with that of Jesus of Nazareth. That's the only thing
that causes any king, no matter how great, of that day to be remembered today. So he said he was right. He chose the right choice. He said, I'll let them kill me.
He said, I'll let them kill me. He said, I'll let them kill me. He said, I'll let them kill me. He said, I'll let them kill me.
He said, I'll let them kill me. He said, I'll let them kill me. He said, He said, I'll let them kill me. He said,
I'll let them kill me. And so did they. I'll take my body back again. Maybe then people will remember. So he did. But in doing this he also accomplished
a still greater task. Mankind at that time as he pointed out was walking in darkness. They could not. They were held back. They could not move up this curve.
They were so overburdened by the weight of their own guilt, their own sin, Mosaical law that said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. A law which obviously responded upon the idea that two wrongs make a right. Or that evil can be cancelled if you repeat it often enough. And it doesn't, it just creates a chain reaction of evil which goes on and on and on.
Because every time you do evil, somebody else has to do evil, and somebody else has to do evil, and somebody else has to do evil, you have a chain reaction that can never be broken. And everyone felt overburdened with guilt that there was no way to get rid of, because every time wrong was done, they had to repeat the wrong. They had taken up the habit of slaughtering innocent animals as a sacrifice to God. I don't know how they got the idea that God would get any closer from killing innocent animals. But he himself had cured him. But this was the idea back then, the unconscious idea was the animal was perfectly innocent.
He had no idea. He hadn't committed any sins. And also, he couldn't retaliate, neither could any of his sons retaliate. So maybe by killing him, he could take up a little bit of the burden of guilt off of the soul of the person he was sacrificing. It was the unconscious idea, the idea back in the subconscious mind, that the only way to get rid of guilt is by making something else suffer for it. So Jesus said, well, that's a pretty good psychological principle, and thousands of innocent animals from one person would be just as well.
I think the psychological principle, anyhow, all we need is really one sacrifice, one big sacrifice on which everyone can unload his guilt, his sin. And he said it. He described it several times to his disciples in the Jack letter. I am the lamb which taketh away the sin of the world. But he did not say that my sacrifice will take the sin from the mind of God, take your sin from the mind of God. Because sin cannot exist in the mind of God.
Sin exists only in the heart and conscience and conscience of the individual. And there was what was burdening him down. They couldn't move up this curve. He said, none can walk up in darkness, and they know not where they're going. Let's get a little light. And he said, let's explain to them where they're going, how they're going to get there, and the reference points are going to pass and rise. So they took him, they executed him,
and the third day he rose again. There were skeptical people. Thomas, when told that Jesus had risen from the dead, said, unless I can place my fingers in a hose in his palm and touch my hand into the wound in his side, I will not believe. So when Jesus came around, he said, come here, Thomas. Touch your fingers into the hose in my palm and your hand in mine. Now do you believe?
Oh, yes, Master. Now I have seen, now I believe. Jesus says, good. But far smarter are they who have not seen and yet believe. The Bible translated it, more holy are they. That's the word that our Jesus actually said, the smarter are they who have different means of truth. Thomas says, the poorest of all means of truth.
And unfortunately, it's the means of truth that almost everyone on earth wants today. The very poorest of times. There is no such thing as absolute truth of anything. There are only relative amounts of evidence that in some cases are sufficient to Christ's conviction of the mind. It's like people accept that it must be true because there is sufficient evidence. But different types of minds require very different evidence. It's very obvious that if anyone had really wanted to impersonate the Christ,
he could have easily had similar wounds inflicted upon himself. In fact, the wounds were there. It didn't prove who he was. Anyone could have them. And it's also admitted. If Jesus had wanted those wounds to disappear, he would immediately have done so. And he would still have done the type.
But the fact that he had them or did not have them was no proof of anything. But it happened to be the types of proof that Thomas wanted and that most of us want. I mean, the poorest kind of proof in the world, but we think it's true. And that's why Jesus said, the smarter are they who have other means of truth. The real proof of Jesus' identity was his ability to make points, his ability to do all these things, his ability to teach. They were the true evidence of his identity which no one could connoisseur,
no one could take. But they were not the ones that Thomas wanted. He wanted wounds in his eyes and wounds in his hands, which anybody could have had. So this is as far as Jesus went in his testimony. But he said, go to things and these shall you do, indicating there were still other points. And you say, well, it's very hard to understand what they could have been.
But there is at least one more point here, where this joins the God line, which we will call absolute creation. Now, in raising people from the dead, Jesus put spirit back into matter. He made the matter capable of receiving the spirit. He put the spirit back in. But it was the spirit that had already been in that matter. He was just rejoining something that had been created before. He wasn't creating anything in the act of raising people from the dead.
There is a level at which absolute creation is made. There is a level at which galaxies are formed, planets are formed, suns are formed. But how could Jesus demonstrate this to his disciples? How could Jesus demonstrate the creation of a galaxy when his disciples didn't even know there was such a thing as a galaxy? How could he demonstrate the creation of a planet when they didn't even know there was such a thing as a planet? And how could he demonstrate the creation of a new soul?
And they say, well, it's just a new child born. It's just a new birth. So there is no way to demonstrate it. And anyway, I think he was quite frustrated at that point, because he couldn't even get these over. When the rich man asked him, about various things, and he tried to explain and answered,
how can these things be? He said, if I speak to you of earthly things and you cannot understand, how could you understand if I spoke to you of heavenly things? He was frustrated. He couldn't get over his meaning. So he didn't attempt to go above this. There is no way he could demonstrate it anyhow. But he did indicate that even higher levels of ability existed. For know ye not that I have said,
that ye are gods. When you get there, you're going to be when you get there. It may be a long, long, old lie. But you're going to get there. And you've got all of these things which I do. So you do also enjoy the things which I do. Now, in a life like this, there are always people who say, oh, could you tell me where I am?
And it's true. I say, I don't have to tell you, sir or madam. You know perfectly well where you are. You don't have to ask anyone. You sit down in the quietness of your own room and you say, how much of the total effort of which I am capable do I devote to this? And of what ability and time I have left over, how much of that of which I am capable do I devote to this?
And how much of my ability of which I am capable do I devote to this? How much of the ability I have do I devote to anything? Am I really using any significant portion of my abilities? And if I am, how much of that do I devote to each of these things? And when you get to asking yourself that question, you're going to be able to put yourself right on that line exactly where you are. The road map in which anyone can tell themselves. You don't have to ask me or anyone else where you are.
That's one of the advantages of the road map. You can place yourself on it. But another one of the advantages, once you've grasped this, you're not going to get stuck on this level. You're not going to say, I've arrived at this before I get off. You know, because it's the very first level. The level necessary to survival. And if you get off there, you've never gone to a mountain of anything.
No matter how many millions you may acquire. If you get off on any of these levels, you're stuck. You've still got to go on. You can't get away. You can stay there as long as you want, but you've still got to go on this path all the way up to the top. And now you know what the levels are. If you are going to take an automobile trip into another state where you've never been,
especially if it's a long and rather hazardous journey, if you're at all smart, the first thing you're going to do is get a road map. Then you can say, well, I'm going through Pittsburgh, I'm going through Cincinnati, I'm going through this. And as you pass through the towns, you know where you are. You can then recognize, you know exactly what part of your trip you're on. So we need a road map to tell us all of the points of increasing ability we're going to reach as we go through this development.
We need the ability to tell where we are and what the next step we should start working toward is. And people then will say, well, how can I, I'd like to move faster, how can I run up faster up this trip? And I'll say, sir, or my education may be, when you came into this hall tonight, did you understand this, sir? Did you really know where you were going? Did you see these steps one after another that you were going to reach,
these levels of development? Oh, no, I knew all the things you said about astrology and alchemy and all these things. Sure, I'd read all these things and I'd heard all these things, but they were just sort of dishing around in my mind. They didn't make any pattern. I said, do you understand it now? Oh, yes, that's a very simple thing.
I said, you're now moving up that curve at least twice as fast as you were when you came in it. Because now you know where you're going. And that is the principle advantage of the curve. I'm going to give a break now here for a minute so I can get a drink of water and restore my place. I will take questions. There isn't really a great deal more I can tell you.
I've given almost all the data that can be given on this. But if you study it and learn it, you'll be able to put other reference points in there. And you'll know when you reach them. You'll say, oh, where did I go wrong? Also, this point should be in there. Try the continuing road map if you make the turn of it. Florence, do we have any of those maps?
Yes. Yeah, we have a few of the maps here. It has this in print here. Originally, it came in the book for the development. We don't have any more of the books. Unfortunately, we'll take all these if you want the book. But we do have a few of these. And as far as they go around, if you want one,
you can have one of those things. Yeah, one nickel apiece. All right. Thank you. Tonight, there's just plenty of answers. There's a great deal more I can say about that. I'd always be glad to start. Great, yes.
Well, matter is the lowest frequency of a... The word in itself is interpreted in many ways by different people. Consequently, it's always a problem to use the term because different people are thinking of different things when the term is used. Originally, it meant a primordial substance that is a combination of energy or matter or something that pervaded the the universe we brought it down to the word ether e-t-h-e-r a little later when we began to study light rays how light got here from the sun or how light got
here from the stars and it was energy actually in motion and when we learned it was a wave motion so our physics said well if it's a wave motion it has to have something to wave in and so the process there had to be a completely elastic substance pervading the universe but the universe wasn't really just empty space there had to be some kind of completely elastic substance which could transmit waves that can transmit vibrations and so they proposed an e-t-h-e-r then we began I began looking for physical manifestations of it and never found any, so eventually that shall say was kind of discarded.
And we wound up with a double concept of life, that light is now considered to be both a particle and a wave motion, depending on where you're looking at it from. It's a concept that the mind can't grasp. It's something we can accept mathematically, but the mind can't grasp. And I do have explanations of these two appearances of the phenomena that can be grasped, unfortunately. I mean, it's a different lecture. If we had another couple of hours to lecture, I could run through it, but then half the people would be bored anyhow, because it does involve advanced physics.
But matter is the lowest level. Matter without energy is the lowest level of creation, as even Aristotle pointed out. But it has no significance in itself. We say, according to Euclid's MC2, that it is coagulated energy. It can become energy, it can become size instead, but in itself, in its inner form, matter without energy is simply absent. It has no significance in itself. And therefore, by that point, it is the lowest form, the lowest significant thing in the
universe. Of which? Well, the Earth is matter. We would be matter if we were matter. If we weren't matter, we wouldn't be going anywhere. And, of course, the point is that all the matter that we know of contains energy. We've never been able to reduce water, for example, or any other matter to absolute zero. Well, it still contains some heat energy.
We live in a universe in which energy is being radiated from every star in every direction constantly. There are constant sources of energy in all atoms and molecules. They're in constant motion, bouncing against each other, so that there is always energy connected with matter. We can't completely extract all the energy from matter, but the more energy we extract from matter, the less it can manifest itself. You couldn't see matter if there were no energy, and if it didn't reflect any light, you could
never see it. You could never see any one thing. You didn't have one. If it's completely without energy, it couldn't manifest itself in any way. Well, not necessarily. Ether is a form of essence as divorced from matter itself. That is, ether can exist where there is no matter. It was calculated ether covered all space.
If all space is filled with ether, whether there's any matter in it or not. And I say it isn't a concept that has been subject to very much proof, because if it isn't matter, there's no way to prove that it exists. If it's neither matter nor energy, how do you go about doing that? Well, I think it's very important that it exists, because it can't manifest itself either, unless energy impacts it or matter impacts it. It doesn't signify anything. Well, the thing I should have pointed out is the place where it's located.
We say that the centers of knowledge and wisdom are in the head. The center of understanding is in the heart. And, of course, this is allegorical in itself. This is, we say, the center of love and emotions. That is, it's a kind of a And, as you say, it's purely a pituitary gland and some people have other similar thoughts. But allegorically, the difference is recognized in the difference of location.
The knowledge and wisdom are in the head, but understanding also contains elements such as pity, it contains elements such as want, such as love. We are getting a little off track, but I should bring it in at this point, because it does bring a tremendous intuition and understanding. In the reading of the Holy Bible, we are often somewhat led astray from the original meaning that was in the mind of the original writer. In a translation of the Bible from the various early tongues, in which it was originally written and translated first through the Hebrew, through the Greek, and then into the English,
all of the early languages were very poor in adverbs and adjectives. In fact, the Aramaic language had less than a fifth as many words as the present English language had. So that every adjective or adverb that existed at that time in the Aramaic, for every one that was there, there were at least five English words that could be translated into English to be applied to that Aramaic word. That Aramaic word could have any one of five meanings in our language, or five different words.
When the material was being translated, the translators, more or less at random, took the English synonym, which they thought most closely indicated the mind of the thought and the mind of the writer. But they often erred in this, including one out of five, only about once out of three or four. So they tried to actually choose the one that was the best. They actually created in the mind of the reader today the thought that was in the mind of the writer originally.
And there was one word which had three basic meanings. It had a few minor meanings. But it's used all through biblical texts. And it could have the meaning love, or charity, or understanding. And these were mixed up, more or less, in the translations all through the Bible. If you put the right one in, the meaning of that biblical phrase becomes very clear instantly. You know exactly what it meant and why it was written.
If you use any of the others, it's a little bit vague. Every day or so, in lectures, I have to bring out this point that in translation of languages, we run a terrible risk of misunderstanding. In the United Nations building, in the Assembly of the United Nations, they have, as you know, an automatic translating system. When a speaker gets up and speaks before the United Nations, and you see on television if you've been there, you see that all the representatives have earphones on their ears. They aren't listening to the speaker.
They're hearing the translation in their own language of what he was saying, which is automatically translated into each of the languages of the representatives they're listening to. But it began to be wondered at how precise this was. Because it was written in the Bible. Because if it wasn't, it was a very dangerous thing. Because the person listening could get a totally different idea of what the speaker was saying than his idea when he said it. And so we made very exhaustive tests to see how various phrases, various concepts and
ideas would come out when they were put in in one language, taken out in another language, and put back in that language, and taken out in another language, and so forth. To see how much they changed with the other people. And they tried all different kinds of approaches, and they had even including the romantic approach. They put through a phrase of a young lover to his girlfriend, Ah, my darling, when I look into your precious face, time ceases. Very romantic phrase. And they put it through a couple of times, and it came out that your expensive face would stop a clock.
Well, they are synonymous. The two terms are synonymous. But I'm sure it makes a great deal of difference. It makes a great deal of difference for the girlfriend which interpretation she gets. So, these are some of the problems. And also the Bible is a problem in the church. I do have a course on understanding the Bible. I was a very good friend of Dr. Charles Lathrop Warren for many years.
He was one of, well, I'd say by far the greatest students of the Aramaic language, the Cassadian language, the Sanskrit language that ever lived in modern times. He had the Old Lesser Times that were last printed in the 1700s. I don't think they've ever really been printed since the complete Lesser Times of these languages. And he spent some 65 years of his life in translating the ancient Torahs, the ancient scriptures, and the Bible was taken and translated and informed us to see what was actually in the mind of the authors of these things and how it compared with the translation that had been made in the Bible. And all through, this one phrase keeps coming up.
Love, charity, and understanding. So, I mean, when it's used, you can apply any one of those things to it. But it makes a difference which one you apply. In one part of the Bible, there is a case where three statements are made, and it was intended by the writer that all three of these interpretations be used one after another. Though I give all of my belongings to the poor, though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it availeth me nothing. In the original St. James edition, all three of the following terms were also translated charity.
So, word charity was used in all three of them. And it was only supposed to be used on the first one. In the present St. James edition, I believe the word love is used in all three cases. And it wasn't. It was only supposed to be used in one of the cases. But in the first case, charity was a proper word because though we give all of our belongings to the poor, if they're doing it only to be known as big-spenders, or to be known by the others, or to be known by other people for what we give,
we have our reward, as Jesus said, we have our reward here, but there isn't any reward in heaven. It availeth them nothing. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have all knowledge, so that I should, and so forth, and have not understanding, is the word that was supposed to be used there, instead of charity or love. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not understanding, I am become as a sounding glass and a tinkling cymbal.
I am become as a sounding glass and a tinkling cymbal. I am become as a sounding glass and a tinkling cymbal. You've all heard lecturers who had a wonderful command of the language, and they would just speak on, and the words and the phrases would roll out, and you'd sit back in France and think, my, what a wonderful speaker, what a wonderful vocabulary he has, what a wonderful construction he has, how well he speaks. And suddenly he was true, and you would think,
but what do I know now that I didn't know before? The answer is nothing. He was a sounding glass and a tinkling cymbal. He sounded wonderful. He sounded wonderful. But he could not convey understanding because he didn't have it. And you can't give anything that you don't have. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not understanding, it availeth me nothing. A couple of years ago I was lecturing in the East, and a gentleman attended one of my lectures. It was not on religion or any religious studies. But he was the big wheel in the Presbyterian diocese in several states there. New Jersey and some of the others. He happened to be present for lunch,
and he invited me out to dinner afterwards, for a little discussion. And I think it was only curiosity on his part. He didn't know, of course, I didn't know anything about religion. He didn't know that I had learned to read from the Bible at the age of four, and had been pursuing it for so and so ever since. But I think he just invited me out to dinner to find out what made this an uptick in my life.
And he said, Well, you know, I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian.
I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. And so, as we went to dinner, to talk very quickly through religion and Christian faith, I pointed out to him, which he completely accepted, that there was a great deal of mistranslation in the Bible. But to him it didn't seem to make any difference.
I said, oh, well, of course, but I didn't always pick the right, exactly the right meaning in the English term. But what difference does it make? It really isn't any important, because the words are close enough together so that they will mean the same. And that's when I sprung on in the test in the United Nations. And there's words, when I look into your eyes, time ceases to match your face with the top of the clock. Many began to see that there was or could be a very great difference in how the words were received. Depending on using the precise word, the precise concept that was in the mind of the writer. And in the course of it, I said, do you know that even the two greatest commandments of all are mistranslated in the Bible? And, of course, that was wrong, too. So I'm sure he was ready to call for the states and the targets at that time.
He was ready to burn me with the states, because he was ready to fire the two most sacred commandments in the world. So I said, look, I said, what are they? Thou shalt love the Lord. Thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. And the second was like unto it, namely this. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. And these two hung all of the law on the top. Now, I said, this would be fine advice if there was any way on earth that man could do it.
Unfortunately, there is not. Love is an emotion that is not subject to the will. No man can love anyone or anything just because he is advised, commanded, or even bribed to do so. I said, supposing that a very wealthy man should come to you tomorrow and say, look, Joe, I'll give you a million dollars if you can love Joe Jones, your next-door neighbor. In chance, by the thought of a million dollars, you'd probably say, oh, I sure will. Why, I love that no-good, stupid, stinking so-and-so if it kills me.
And it probably would. You might make a very good pretense complete with all of the outward symptoms, but in your heart, there wouldn't be any difference. In fact, in your heart, you would eventually come to despise that man even more because he is now the living symbol of your own hypocrisy. Love is an emotion that is not subject to the will. You cannot love anyone or anything just because you are commanded to do so. And God knows it.
God would never have known such a statement. The text translation of that is, Thou shalt strive to understand the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind, with all thy sense. The second is like unto it, namely, Thou shalt strive to understand thy neighbor as thyself. On these hang all of the law on the pocket. And it is right, and it's something every man can do. That is within the purview of the will.
It is subject to the will. It is something that everyone can do. And that's how the commandment was originally written. That is what it meant. It was just a substitution. It sounded a little better. So it's written, love instead of understanding. It concealed the entire meaning, the entire course of a season.
There is no need to command man to love God. If man understands God, love follows inevitably as day to night. If man does not understand God, no amount of commandments can have any effect whatsoever. So what would be the use of commandment? And how I finish, that man is very strange. He's taught, and he's taught, and he's taught, and he says, By golly, I just can't think of any argument against that. He's accurate, and that's what it's true.
But we find constant. The word love is a command to do something that no man can do. But if man strives to understand, and if he succeeds in understanding, love follows automatically. It's something that we don't need to strive for. If we're calm, if we do the thing that is timely, it's preliminary to it. So we're getting somewhat off the pathway. We're getting really into a lesson on understanding the Bible.
But it's not as we tell it to say it's not. Thank you. Well, obviously, both of these are inherent. Both the study of Jesus and the study of the Bible and religion are inherent in these right here. It was simply the need to bring the two back together. They were, as I said in the beginning, before the time the very final science and religion were one. And by mistake and completely unintentionally, he separated them by first starting at one end and then starting at the other end of the study.
And I thought it was time that somebody rectified that and pointed out the fact that it is the same path no matter which direction you start. You can start at either end of it, but you should start knowing that it's the same path whichever route you're following in the study. As far as living it, you have to start with matter because you are matter to begin with. You have to go up the curve. I mean, the spirit is returning to its original home at the top of the curve during the five days of development. But you start at the bottom and the manifestation of... As we say, the manifestation of the glory of God, or the one we say, by following that path back up to the original home.
But it is something that came together as a result of a great deal of study of the Bible and understanding of what the word duty meant that we use there. I mentioned that that's how I was later born. I was attended to for a number of years. Night after night, I'd go to this place. We lived over in our home. And then we would go through the ancient stories. We'd go through the ancient manuscripts.
And we would translate it. It was a great deal of work. Now, this word is here. You've all heard the statement of Jesus that it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go into the kingdom of heaven. And a great deal of effort was made to... Now, explain this in Bible. There's even, there's a little narrow gate in Jerusalem,
which some people call the needle's eye gate. And pictures were taken of that. And so this is what he meant. There's a... I just joined showing a camel driver, trying to drive a camel through this little narrow gate. Actually, the Aramaic word for gate and the word for rope are identical. And what Jesus was saying,
it is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go into the kingdom of heaven. But with God, all things are possible. God can even cause a rope to go through the eye of a needle. But when you bring it down to what it actually was, it's much easier to understand trying to put a rope through the eye of a needle than trying to put a camel through the eye of a needle. And the same thing is true, I mean, all through the Bible.
To understand it, the Bible becomes a very precise document. The first chapter of Genesis is one of the most precise scientific documents ever written. And I have lectured on this in colleges and universities. And you see, the eyes open up and people who are really sitting back expecting to be entertained or bored to death then they become into the physics classes. And you point out that the first chapter,
it's actually the first chapter of Genesis, turns out that I would find it completed. Some never get beyond the second verse. And they close the book and say, that's not for me, it denies everything that I've been taught. It doesn't at all. But you have to explain how it doesn't. The open of the Bible says,
in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth, was without form and void and darkness, was a firm of faith to the deep. And it kind of places the book to say, that's not for me. In the first place, it says the earth was void,
without form and void. And if we're talking about a conic, I could buy the fact that the form might be different, but I can't see how a conic can be void. It would have to have some form, it might just change form, but if it's a conic, some polish of rock and so forth,
it wouldn't be void. And you have to point out to him, as we did, going through with, with, uh, with the words that were actually in the mind of the writer. You look up, you start your Bible, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
And you say, I wonder what words, the original words were that were translated, heaven and earth. And you look them up in the Aramaic, and they actually meant matter and space, or essentially heaven and earth, except for space and matter.
God created the earth, God created the space and the matter. As I pointed out in this, the word earth simply refers to matter anyhow. It was a word for matter, not a word for this planet. We applied it to this planet, because it was only a matter we knew about at that time,
so we called the earth the planet earth, the planet matter. But the original Aramaic terms meant, in the beginning God created the space and the matter. And the matter was without form, and void, and was darkness upon the face, upon the face of the deep.
If you look in the St. James Version, or anybody, you'll find that the word was is in italics, meaning it was moved, it was not there. All the italicized words were either moved, or were put in there, arbitrarily put in,
to make the meaning more clear. The translators thought they were improving the meaning, by moving the word was, from it was darkness upon the face of the deep, to darkness was upon the face of the deep. But they obscured the actual meaning even further. If you turn a telescope in the direction of the constellation of Orion,
you will see exactly what was described in the first verse of the first chapter of Genesis. You will see in the constellation of Orion a huge blob of darkness upon the face of the deep.
[02:02:43] Questions and closing discussion
They call it the Horseshead Nebula in the constellation of Orion. It is a huge mass of matter that is void and without form. It has not yet completed swirling into the final vortex form that all convention galaxies take when they condense in the dark nebula.
It's beginning to, the big blob which will become the center, it's beginning to move around. It has a vague resemblance to a Horseshead, so we call it the Horseshead Nebula in Orion. It is a dark nebula. It does not produce any glow. The only reason you can see it in the telescope at all
is that there is enough matter there to absorb all of the light of the stars behind it. So we see it outlined, written by millions of stars that are around it. It is void. It is probably a better vacuum than we've been able to draw on Earth.
That is, the particles of matter are so widely separated. It is void. It is without form. And it is darkness upon the face of the deep. Eventually, it will complete its condensation into times. It will become a galaxy,
a very small galaxy. It's about 26 light years across and about 100 light years in length. We don't know how deep it is because we can't see through it. But there is enough matter. However, void it is. There is enough matter there
to make a few thousand stars and condensation is complete. A tiny little pocket galaxy. And here is an illustration of exactly what was described in the first verse of Genesis. In the beginning, God created the matter in the space. And the matter was without form and void
and was darkness upon the face of the deep. I would defy anyone to give a more precise description of the dark nebula than that in that many words. You just can't do it. The matter was without form and void and was darkness upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the water. And you say, gee, I wonder what that meant. And you look up the word water and you find, to your surprise, that it was the same word that meant matter but it was originally translated earth except that it had a little prefix which meant swirling.
The Spirit of God moved upon the swirling matter. Well, the translators couldn't figure how matter could swirl. Water swirls. So they translated it water. And the Spirit of God moved upon the swirling matter and it condensed. And God said, let there be light and there was light.
And everyone looks like, oh, now he's made day and night. But why does he describe day and night again later on, a few verses later on? They say it's redundant. He describes everything twice. And it isn't. As the dark galaxy begins to condense,
the particles impact. There's stronger and stronger frequencies. There's greater frequency and more energy. The temperature begins to go up. And we have glowing nebulae in the universe, too, all over. We can see thousands of them in the telescope as well as dark nebulae.
We see glowing ones. And God said, let there be light and there was light. The whole mass began to glow. Then comes the next verse. He separated the light from the darkness. Peter said, now we've got day and night. That's not what it meant at all. As this condensation continues,
you'll get a point of light here. And darkness, a point of light. In other words, stars now begin to form. And long stretches of darkness between. Another point of light and darkness. He separated the light from the darkness. The air there was compounded because at that point the translators took a line that was
eight or ten lines farther down in the original text and brought it up here because they thought that was where it belonged. It says he called the day he called, the light he called night and the day he called darkness. That line was never there in the original script at all. It was carried up there from when he did create the sun and the moon and the light of the sun to rule over the day
and the light of the moon to rule over the night and the light he called day and the night he called day. Darkness he called night. That's where that line was in the original text. But the Spirit of God, you look up the term Spirit of God which moved upon the swirling matter. And you find that the word that was translated Spirit of God
meant the great creative force that brings things into being. I mean, it was an ornate word that referred to, there isn't really exactly but there is an exact meaning in our language which you'd never believe in. That force which causes things to come together. I asked many people and surprised them, did you ever know that the words love and gravity were synonymous?
That they were part of the same force? That love is the force that brings sentient beings closer together and gravity is the force that brings non-sentient matter together? That's the same force except one eye's on non-sentient matter and the other eye's on sentient being. But the term the great creative spirit which causes a generation, causes things to exist,
what it meant was the force of God. The Spirit of God, the force of God, he moved upon this swirling vortex and began to condense. And it began to be light, it began to glow and then the light became concentrated in points because there were the lights and the darkness. After that point there is a description
of the creation of a galaxy. You have to have a galaxy before you can have a solar system. There is no redundancy in the Bible at all. It first describes an illogical order, first the creation of a galaxy and then the creation of the sun, the moon and the stars maybe then also and so on.
There is no redundancy, there is no dispute between it and science. You just have to use the proper words that were in the mind of the writer when he wrote it. And when you get to that point the scientist is sitting very relaxed in his chair and he says, My God, these boys back there must have really known something.
They knew things that we are just beginning to discover now. Maybe we ought to look into this thing a little more carefully. Maybe they knew a few things that we haven't discovered yet. We might actually learn something from them and at that point they begin to become interested in this book of history we call the Bible. And you can turn a scientist's arm to the Bible very easily if you explain to him what it means
and the fact that it does not deny the things that he has thought it verifies the things that he believes to be it. I'm getting a long ways away. I mean, I'm kind of switching on. I'm sure you're all bored and you hope that there are some questions you'd like to ask yet. I'll quote it.
Well, he created a firmament in the midst of the waters and again the waters are this thrilling matter. He is creating actually the earth and there is a little confusion in the Bible here. I mean, this thing was rearranged by people who knew nothing about science. Originally, apparently, when the earth was created there was a band about the earth.
This is the earth about Saturn now, a ring. You'll remember rings about the earth of gaseous and also liquid matter or it would be tiny particles of ice in the form that it was, but much heavier than the rings of Saturn. And if these collapsed and fell during the creation of the earth, one of them produced what was described as a flood, a great flood,
which of course did not cover all of the earth. The Bible recounts because there weren't people all over the earth. There was no one who could tell. I mean, the writer of that original article couldn't tell whether the entire earth was covered or not. This is one of the big questions that scientists ask. They say, well, if Noah's Ark floated off from the highest mountain in the world and all of the world is covered with water,
where did all that water go to in a few days? How could you get it away from the earth? How could you get all those quintillions of tons of water that you'd have to move away from the earth to get into dry land again? Well, there was a tremendous downpour of water when the fountains of the deep were broken up and the last thing fell, and it's called the diodes, and it's something that happened historically
because every race on earth has records of it, just as every race on earth has records of the long day and the long night. You know, the Bible tells about Joshua, and Rahel of Gibeon holding and pointing his hand at the sun and commanding the sun to stand still, and it did stand still while the battle went on and he defeated the enemy. But all over that part of the world there is legend in every race
about the days when the sun stood still, long days. And in the Aztec legends and all the legends that go back far enough, on this side, on this hemisphere, there is the account of the long night when the sun never came up and just never came up and it didn't look like it was ever going to come up,
is the account of the long night. Well, if you had had an account of the long day all over the world, you could say, well, it just proves itself. But when you have a legend on one side of the earth of a long day and on the other side of the earth of a night that was twice as long as normal, well, it has some significance. I think Immanuel Velikovsky referred to it
and gave an explanation during the approach of Venus into its new orbit inside the earth that it did, for a time, almost stop the rotation of the earth while it was approaching the earth. And when it was receding, of course, the energy was reversed and the earth resumed its normal rate of rotation.
It first floated down and then speeded up. It floated down as it was pushing and then speeded the rotation as it was going away. And whether or not that's valid, I mean, these legends have some meaning where you find them all over the world and when they must, such as a long day on one side of the planet
and a long night on the other side, you can bet that they have some basic significance behind them. Well, yes, it is a form of control over matter and I have to point out that to talk that a person can exercise, upon occasion, with control doesn't necessarily mean he has really reached that level. Usually, he doesn't really even understand what he's doing.
But it is possible to touch those levels momentarily and for some folks, actually, anyone who performs faith healing is asking from a level even higher than that. Not necessarily having reached that level, but you can touch it. Every time Jesus and I have performed a miracle, he point out, he says,
not of myself do I do these things, not in the level in which I am now manifesting. He also pointed out that he had to manifest in this low level or nobody could see him. He said the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not, but the light was made flesh and dwelt among us and we all perceived the glory.
The light had to be made flesh or we couldn't even have perceived it. But it wasn't a fleshly body that was doing anything and that's what he was always pointing out, it was fleshly, but I have to reach up here for the power that's up here to do these things. But I have to be in this fleshly body that can't see me at all.
You can never see through it and understand me if I didn't occupy this body. Well, I hope that it will be someday. It certainly should be. I don't know whether I'll ever be able to do it or not. I always say, well, I'll be glad to do it if I can get the time. There's probably 200 other things
that people actually think like me but there's only going to be that too. So I don't know. I hope that eventually we will have it. We have a course that we have, and we'll be teaching it out in Kronopah on understanding the Bible. It covers this and many other fields
in which it's possible to make the Bible completely understandable to anyone. Whereas we have been taking it on faith. We say, well, and many religions teach that. You aren't supposed to understand. You're just supposed to accept. Just accept what I say. But the human was never designed to do that.
I didn't design man to become a blind robot. And to follow God, God designed man to understand, to seek understanding. That's the greatest commandment of all. I shall strive to understand. God has commanded me to understand. Not to hide, not just to say,
well, I'll follow whatever you say and I won't try to understand it. Yeah, we do have church services and we have sermons that go into understanding the Bible or to understanding each other. Most of them are taken basically from the Bible but they are put in a way
in which people get away with it. They come away with a little better understanding of themselves. You aren't preached at. And we do have a period at the conclusion of every church service. They're very short. And then we have a quite a long period
of discussion in which when I am at the minister there, I simply descend into congregation. So you sit around and everyone who has a question, just like now, brings it up. And I try to answer if I can. If someone else gives his opinion,
someone else gives his opinion. Yes. It's a very, very interesting discussion. Yes, it compares in many respects. I don't know, I haven't read the complete lines of the Bible yet, so I'm really not qualified to say
how well it compares in all respects. But he did make many points of these, or made terms that had a number of meanings. And he did point out that there were some of these meanings that made complete understanding of the other students.
Yes. Can you tell us about the healing center around here? Dr. Willard Pulley? Well, I did a book for Dr. Willard Pulley. I understand there's an article in the St. Mary's Museum about it. I don't know what they say about me
as the author of the book. But I met Willard Pulley on several occasions. They liked, of course, one second Merlin, and became fairly well acquainted with he and his wife. And they have a faith healing ministry
which results in a peculiar form. I mean, almost all the healings are in the form of improvements of the dental condition of the person. Instead of getting an arm healed, or a leg healed,
or a back pain healed, they get fillings in their teeth. And it sounds odd, but it happens in thousands of cases. If he were a dentist, if he had taken up the profession of dentistry, he could have made a fortune.
He would have put more fillings in more people's teeth, and then he would have made more dentists on earth. And they are good fillings. He asked me if I could put a book together for him. The book itself consists
quite largely of the testimony of people who have them here. And to pick from, he gave me a stack of those letters, this high, some six hundred different letters that had been written to him by people who had received
these fillings. And the letters were written up to a year afterwards, and the fillings were still there and still in good condition. Now I know the difference between the fillings that were written to him
and the fillings that were given to him. And the fillings that were given to him were still there and still in good condition. Now I know the difference
between the fillings that were given to him and the fillings that were given to him. Now I know the arguments against faith healing. There are many doctors and other people
who say, Oh, that's all just a result of hysteria. People get religious hysteria and they think they've been healed. Maybe they're limped before and for a little while
they can walk without limping because of this hysteria and they think they've been healed. But it's just imagination. But I say that if you've got a dental filling through religious hysteria
and a year later that filling is still there and you're still using it, it's a pretty significant difference because it's a pretty significant form of hysteria. And also it saves you
a lot of dental bills. But among these things are three different certifications from dentists themselves concerning patients who made the dental work for us. In one case, a dentist had examined
the patient the day before and said, You've got to have four fillings right away. You've got to make an appointment for four fillings. That night, the fellow attended
the meeting by Dr. Willard Furley who came in back to the dentist the next day and the dentist said, Oh, so you're chiseling on me. You had some other dentist do it.
He said, No. I attended a meeting with Dr. Willard Furley. I haven't been to any dentist. And the dentist examined these fillings and pronounced them
to be very good material and he signed a certificate, a signed certificate for that type which is in the book. And so really I was putting the book together. I was making a few points,
explaining a few points for Dr. Furley but he couldn't explain himself and I said, Well, you know, I've got to make a few points
for Dr. Furley. And he came back and asked me to explain why is it that some people got porcelain fillings, some people got silver fillings,
some people got gold fillings and a few people got new teeth, complete new teeth. Why should God discriminate? So I went through these five or six hundred
testimonials and I had to analyze the type of person that wrote each testimonial. You can tell pretty well the financial category in which the person wrote the testimonial.
And I had to analyze the type of person that wrote each testimonial. You can tell pretty well the financial category in which the person is by the way he writes.
You can tell a lot of things, especially if there's a person on your letter and you can tell quite a lot of things about the person by the way he writes.
I found that without any doubt the reason that some people got porcelain fillings is because that's what they expected to get.
That is what they would have ordered if they went to a dentist. They were the people in the poorer class who didn't have much money, who couldn't have
afforded anything but porcelain fillings. And if they'd gone to a dentist they would have afforded porcelain fillings. And when they got the face healing
that was what was in their mind and that's what they got. They got the thing that was in their mind. The people who were in the class who said,
I've got to have silver fillings and then I have any got silver fillings. And those who said I want to even silver isn't good enough.
People who are like the lady whose doctor told her that her son had a strep throat and she would have to he would have to paint it with
silver nitrate and she told doctor that she didn't have any silver fillings. So there are people who would insist on gold
fillings and they got gold fillings. And there were people whose faith and determination was so great that they said
I shouldn't have any filling at all I should have a new tooth and they got a new tooth. But there was also the question
of why all people who needed it didn't get it. And even those who had quite a bit of faith apparently or those who were
in a state that is chaste and performed the same way. And the minister's wife had a couple of very bad tragedies
and she stood in the healing line and didn't get a thing. Although Dr. Fuller had pointed out that it doesn't always happen at once
sometimes it's two or three days later that it happens. But nothing happened in this line and immediately the minister began to revile
Dr. Fuller from the platform calling him a fake and all kinds of things like that. And Dr. Fuller didn't get any
of that. She was excited to it and she didn't get any therefore you're a fake. Two days later
she did. But the point was that not everybody did. No faith healers used to heal everybody.
And the question is why even though one person maybe just deserted. And again through investigating
all of these things it's pretty speculative. But we have a human being has a tendency to be very reluctant
to accept assistance. Humanity is pretty proud and in order to accept assistance you have to
place yourself below the person who gives it. The reason that we know the United States doesn't make
funds of other nations by all the hundreds of billions that it's given away. When another nation
gives it to us it's not going to accept assistance from us.
We are putting the other nation down when we give to it. So we
aren't making funds. But there are many people who feel reluctant
to accept assistance. And I want to get help because they are reluctant to receive
it. Because they won't admit dependence on the help. Their ego is too
strong. And I told the story of a hunter who was out in the north
woods and he was hiking through the snow and he came around a tree and
of course bears can climb trees too. And the bear started up the tree after
him. And it was a very long distance up to that first limb. He was
training, running, trying to get up. And the bear was gaining on him all
the time. So pretty soon he began to pray. And he stood up to heaven
and said never mind Lord you won't have to help me after all I made it
all by myself. There's way too many of us are. If you're
independent you have to be dependent on God to get a healing and there
are too many people out there to help you. And the question of
why aren't all prayers answered as a youth was at a sewing lady sewing circle which my
grandmother attended. And there's another little girl, our neighbor's girl. And we
were just listening on the side of it going on. And it was like
oh God always answers my prayers. Always. And I said always yes he always answers
my prayers. And he said how in the world could that be? And the little girl
said well he doesn't always answer yes he or sometimes he answers
no dear that isn't good for you. Just as my mother said. But it has
been pointed out by philosophers that there is no more unkind thing
that God could do than to give us everything we're asked for.
And there was an illustration of that in the very wealthy lady who had a
nurse maid for her one side and the other side and she said give the child
what it wants. No. First silence for a minute and then there was a
tremendous howl and screaming that happened. First time she was fairly angry she rushed
the door and said no I thought I told you to give the child what it
wants. And we don't really we aren't that smart enough to know which of the
things are good for us and which aren't. It just might have been that
if you would have got that brand new set of teeth you might have
celebrated by going out and eating so much stuff and you might have done
all kinds of things for the best of all possible works. There's
one thing about it nobody can prove it wrong because nobody
can prove that if the thing that did happen hadn't happened
something much So he came to work one morning and said, Oh, I had a terrible dream last night. He said, I dreamed the devil came and carried me off to hell. And automatically I thought, Oh well, it could have been worse. And he said, Now look, mister, how could that possibly have been worse? And the guy said, Gee, he might have made you walk.
So we can never prove that everything didn't happen to the best, and that's the rough part of the work. Did you just hear that? Yeah, we are far overdue so you can get out of here. Maybe I've got one more short question. We have 84 started units in understanding. If I visit one of them every week, it would take us a year and a half to get a handle on it. Why don't you turn the phone off so I can make them talk as long as you want.
Thank you for listening.
