[00:00] Program opening and introduction
in order to present a Mutual Newsbeat exclusive from Kearney, Nebraska. News Director Gene Larson of Mutual Station KGFW in Kearney has obtained an interview with Mr. R. O. Schmidt of Bakersfield, California,
the man who claims to have entered a flying saucer. Come in, Gene Larson. This is Gene Larson. Maybe the terminal has just broken loose in the car.

Thirty feet of it.
Could you think?
Yes. And one seemed like that's done the propelling.
How close did you get to this?
Went across the field toward the riverbed. How far did you get toward the object before you noticed anybody?
Were there steps?
And they did want to search me. And I told them I had no weapons. And I asked them what the deal was or what the object was. And they said, well, as long as we can't for a few minutes, you can't do that.
And it seemed like they were working on these wires for some reason. And the girls were another instrument. There was a lot of dials. And push-buttons. And three men went about their business.
Did they talk?
They were talking in a high German, about 100 feet long, as I stated.
And they were talking in a high German every time I could hear them. Are you qualified to know high German, Mr. Schmidt?
[07:00] Schmidt's report from Kearney, Nebraska
Yes. And one thing and another thing to this man.
Yes. I asked him what he was doing. He said, well, he couldn't tell me that. But in the German, and you recognized it.
Yes, I recognized it. And still high German.
I would have to leave. I went out of this machine. About ten feet. They didn't tell me to not watch anything. I stepped back about ten feet. And then what? When the machines start going, I'll probably step back a little farther. And then I'll watch them.
Not to do something or do something.
I'll tell you after we leave, but it won't start anyway. And that's when I first knew that they had done something. I don't know. Did you personally? Yes, very friendly. Very friendly. But disinterested in you as a person?
I think it was. Occurred, if not always.
Was there anything foreign about them other than they might have been?
Would you say they were actually? This is Guy Wallace in the Mutual Newsroom in New York.

For all the people, and I know I speak for my colleagues here, that we say to all those
