[00:00] Opening remarks and introduction

and a few others but i hope with things continuing as they are that someday i too can tell you that

i rode in a saucer but let me tell you how things began and how they stand up to tonight in the fall

of 1952 we had been in california but a three or four years and i was finding life very difficult

in supporting my two sons alone working six days a week and teaching three nights a week

at glendale college in addition it was necessary to work each night far into the night

to maintain my creative profession and to accomplish the class work

and the reports to the school it is obvious that with this sort of a schedule can you hear me it is obvious that with this sort of a schedule

six days and six nights there was absolutely no time for pleasure outside activities or clubs

of any sort and i hardly read the newspaper in addition to all this work to add to my burdens

there were a number of personal difficulties that kept mounting heaping one upon the other

until i found myself in a positive treadmill quicksand getting deeper and deeper

so in this overworked state of mental and physical strain i turned at last

to the last resort prayer a medium with which i was not acquainted in this process i was to know a

newer and a greater universe than i could have conceived one evening after hours of work folded

my papers and prepared to pray from the depths of my heart i called for help and then it was

that i heard a man speaking outside the window beside which i was sitting and i turned and parted the curtains to see who could be standing out there so late at night and speaking in such a

beautiful voice it was rich and resonant a wonderful tone with perfectly clear

initiation almost dramatic but no one was there no one was there at all

and then i realized that this voice was the one that came in the background and during the process of high singing there was no one else there was my mother a girl who was besides one of her brothers

[04:00] Hope Troxell begins recounting her experiences

who was showing me miranda my white FERNU and on the other hand how beautiful he was

i saw words at the top that referenced months before all of them were now happening

i learned to FIFA twice there was a woman lady after all as a recording i Stitcher and friends the beauty of his voice and the expression and the stilling wonder of the words which were different this time than before the third time this occurred i forced myself to grasp the pencil and to write

down all that he said because it was too wonderful to lose the book the wisdom of the universe

is a result of three and one half years of such recording it was during the early part

of this recording that these words were given life is everywhere in the universe

love is everywhere in the universe thought is everywhere in the universe and then came

quite a treatise on life beyond our sphere of the goodness and intelligence of these people the men from other planets I haven't had time to read the papers I knew nothing about saucers all this was quite new to me but as wonderful as this knowledge which I was receiving was I was afraid to mention it to anyone because I couldn't explain it and after all I was a business woman and a public school teacher and what could people think but now things really began to happen I had not been told that spaceships were in our midst

or that men from Venus walked the earth these things were to be shown to me imagine my surprise then well I who could never wake up before 7.30 or 8 o'clock in the morning because I never got to bed before 2 or 3 or 4 with this night work here on a Sunday morning I found myself wide awake at 5 o'clock in the morning and I swung my feet to the floor and sat on the edge of my bed looking out the window it was a large window right beside my bed and the sun was streaming up on the clouds and it was such a beautiful clear morning and I wondered to myself why have I never waked up before to see the sunrise and why should I wake up now at this, for me, unearthly hour at 5 o'clock but I was glad that I did and I couldn't understand why I was so wide awake but I was soon to find out and as I sat there enjoying the beautiful sky and the pink clouds of the sun streaming up on them and drinking in the fresh dampness of the air

this large pink cloud that I was watching began to part and out from the middle of it came a silvery object so long I couldn't see the beginning or the end of it and there were dots along the side and it shone in the sunshine it was like a dream it was curved you could see the shadows underneath tense without moving my eyes from that object I got up and hung on the windowsill seeing the sensation that I too was being watched and for a foolish second I realized that I was in my 90 and then the clouds went over it again and I sank back on the bed just exhausted because it was so exciting I didn't see the thing again and several weeks later when we went north to visit my other neighbor one of my friends and friends son, who was now stationed with the Army North of San Francisco in the Giant Whistles Department. I explained what I had seen to him. And he listened very quietly. When I got through, I said, well, what was this thing I saw?

I said, it was bigger than a Jiridjipo. I just never saw anything like this before. And he said, very common, well, that was a mothership. And I said, well, what's a mothership? And he said, well, that's where they keep all the saucers. He says, we track them on radar all the time. Very simple. So, it was then, this was just the beginning of viewing and having many experiences. Now, since this viewing of the mothership

in, I think it was 1954, I didn't begin keeping track. We have had just countless sightings of spaceships, never a mothership again, but many, many spaceships. And each time it's accompanied by a high nervousness on my part. And also, I am beginning to be able to receive thoughts from the spacemen. I'll give you some of those experiences. Now, that I was seeing saucers periodically.

My son, Peter, who is now 18 years old, living with me, had never seen a saucer. And he thought this business about seeing the mothership was just sort of tongue-in-cheek, well, mothers seeing things. And so, he was kind of ashamed every time I tried to tell anybody that I had seen a spaceship. And he says, oh, shh, mother. So, finally, gratefully for me, Peter was to see spaceships with me. And now he's as excited as I am, of course. Now, some of the sightings that we saw that were particularly interesting, I thought.

One of the first ones that I saw for myself, rather, was three huge saucers over Mount Wilson. This was in February of this year. Now, it doesn't seem that anyone else that I had heard of saw those. And still, they were as large as anything I've ever seen in the wake of saucers. I was driving up Foothill Boulevard going north at about 5.30 in the afternoon.

And the sun was throwing its rays up on the mountains. And I was watching the beauty of the sunlight that changed colors on the mountains. And also watching a small plane which was circling Mount Wilson about that time with a smoke ray. And while I was watching that plane, I'm wondering, well, why is he doing that? Something flashed over in the sky over here. And I looked over, and I narrowly hit the car ahead of me. There were three of the huge saucers just filling in one of the gaps in the mountain. So, V formation. And just floating lazily off to the right. And I wondered, oh, why doesn't that plane stop? Why doesn't that plane see it? Why doesn't somebody see it? So, I pulled off the side of the road as fast as I could and rolled down the window to make sure that I wasn't fooling myself. And leaned out the side of the window. And sure enough, there they were, big as life. So, just then, the plane saw them, too.

And it was coming from behind the mountain then. And it started over towards the three huge saucers. Well, it might have been a pike or a cub for all I know. I couldn't tell. But it seemed awfully small. But as the plane approached the... three saucers, it just looked like a fly in comparison to those ships. So, maybe Dan could tell us what size they might have been. But they were pretty big. So, then I was so excited. I thought, oh, I must stop somebody. I just must stop them. So, people were just racing home, you know, head down, eyes on the road. And so, I leaned out trying to find somebody in intelligence. Look, saucers! But everybody whizzing past. So, I thought, well, I'm not going to miss this myself. So, I leaned back on the other side. And by that time, two of the saucers had gone over the mountain. And the plane was following them. And the third saucer moved over to the right. And floated gradually, clear over, probably Azusa way.

And hung there in the sky like a big orange ball. Getting more and more orange as the sun set. And it stayed there for at least 15 minutes. Because I finally started traveling up Foothill and up Lake. And it was still there when I last saw it. So, of course, Peter didn't make much of that. He knew I was excited. But he hadn't seen it. So, one night in the backyard, we had supper in the garden. This was in August, August 20. And in Otadena, that is. And Peter had just gone around the front yard to turn on the hose on the sprinkler system. And I stretched out. And I stretched out in the shade to enjoy the beauty of the evening. And the sun was just beginning to set. It was about 6.30 or 7. So, as I leaned back in the shade, he said, So, here over the house come four saucers. Two and two. Just having a wonderful time going across the sky. Well, I just screamed for Peter. And he came running. He was making something awful happen to me.

And we got there just in time to see the last two saucers. They were going in pairs. One going straight ahead. Another one kind of following like this so we could see the top and bottom very easily. See the shape of it. And, of course, they were so very awfully pretty. But they went pretty fast. And then there was the time when I'm returning late one evening from the studio in San Marino.

We stopped for supper on the way, which we seldom do. And arrived home about quarter to nine. And as I came in the door, I already had begun hearing these things. But I wasn't sure what I was hearing or whether I was all right or not. And anyhow, I heard the words, Go to where Foothill meets Foothill on the curve. Be there by 9.30 and you will see something you won't forget. Well, those of you who know the area of Altadena, Pasadena know where Foothill meets Foothill on the curve. That's the one going north and the one going east and west meet on that big curve. Of course, they've changed now to Altadena Drive. So I monkeyed around and monkeyed around and wondered if I was just imagining things or what. And I kept repeating and repeating and being stronger and stronger. And finally I said, Peter, let's go. I was getting more and more nervous, too. And I said, Peter, let's go. It was about 9.15 then. And I said, we haven't anything to lose.

Let's go quickly and see what we will see. So Pete says, OK. I think he was kind of concerned. He thought he'd better stay with me in case I had to be brought back, straightjacket or something. So we jumped in the car. We flew along the road to where Foothill meets Foothill. And there was such a big curve. And Pete said, well, where should I stop? And I said, gee, I don't know. I don't know where you should stop. And finally I said, well, here. This seems right. So we pulled up there on the side where you could look out over the canyon and over Pasadena and Whittier and the mountains and all over. So we jumped out of the car. And I said to Pete, well, I don't know what we're supposed to do now. I don't even know what we're supposed to see. This is kind of crazy. And while we were standing there kind of wondering, I heard very distinctly, look to the northwest. So we ran around the car and looked up over the mountains.

And at 9.30, here it comes. It's right over the mountains, just as pretty as anything. And you could see the shape of it. And it slowed down as it approached us. And as it was right opposite, we thought it was going to stop or come toward us or something. It was so exciting. You could see the shape very easily. And sort of a fan sheet something was coming out the back, which my son explained later was something about the air making that fan look as they slowed down.

But we just knew they saw us because they were only two or three blocks away. And they did slow up. And they did give me the notice and so forth. So we watched them. And they went down over, oh, goodness, I don't know how far you can see from there, but way beyond Whittier anyhow, as far as you can see. And they seemed to be over a city, a large city. And there they were joined by another ship from the other direction. And, of course, we went uphill. We went up and down, you know, their maneuvers. And it looked very, very orange-red in the sky. And we watched them for an hour, a full hour. And finally came back home. Well, that was very exciting to know that we could be directed and actually see them right at the minute.

Then there were, I didn't speak last time about the white light over Pasadena.

How many of you heard or read? About the white light over Pasadena? Well, this occurred on September 6th. Did you see it?

About a week later.

That story is pretty scrambled, but then it's got some good facts. I mean, the reports are scrambled, not the facts. But Tad White, the chap that accompanies my son and I to Gabriel Green's meetings and makes tape recordings,

and always carries binoculars, was up at our house that evening. And for the first and only time, he had left his binoculars behind. But that was a night, as you recall, that Mars was going to be closest to the Earth. And Pasadena was all alerted to go out and look for Mars. So when Tad came up, Pete had gone on an errand. Oh, no, he was up at San Luis Obispo. I guess that was it. And so Tad wanted to go back after his binoculars. And I said, Tad, I have a feeling you'll miss something. If you do, you better stay here. But it never occurred to me what he'd miss. Never did. So we sat there talking. And about a few minutes after 10, I said to Tad, oh, Tad, the 10 o'clock is supposed to be the closest. And we want to be able to tell our grandchildren that, of course, he's just 17 years old, that we saw Mars when it was closest to the Earth. So we ran outside. And I said, oh. Well, which is Mars? Well, good heavens, what is this thing?

And here was this big light that first looked larger than Mars. And as it came straight down from heaven, it got bigger and bigger and bigger like a headlight. And if you hurt your eyes to look at it, it was so white. And it came down right over Pasadena. In fact, in Altagena, I've never got this figured out yet exactly how high it was. Did you hear any report of how high it was supposed to be? Or how low? But anyhow, it was low. Well, yes, I guess that sounds about right. Oh, I know. But the night we saw it was the night that Mars was closest. Well, I didn't see that. But the thing was that we definitely saw this thing and watched it for 45 minutes. And it did all these maneuvers, you know, up and down and over and back. And when it went away, it got dim. And when it came forward, it got so bright it hurt your eyes. And then it stood there for the longest time. Well, we weren't watching the clock or anything.

We were so fascinated. We kept asking each other, well, what is it? What is it? Because it didn't look like anything we'd seen before. But we knew it certainly wasn't anything the Army invented. So just then, it shot off over Glendale at about 800 miles an hour. And it was gone. So we came in. And Tad said, oh, he paced around, paced around. He says, oh, I think I better call a ground drill. I better call a ground observer corp. And I said, oh, heavens, they probably observed it. And he said, well, I just want to talk to him. So he called a ground observer corp. And you never heard such a fiasco of a one-sided conversation. Tad did all the listening. I didn't dare to tell this to the 600 people in Mr. Green's group because it might get back to Army maneuvers or something. I don't care if it does. But... The poor lieutenant that answered the phone. Well, Tad just stood there, one foot in the other. And then he sat down and just looked kind of blank.

He says, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. And finally he hung up. And I said, well, what was going on? What happened? Because they're supposed to take your name and address and, you know, all that. And he says, well, in fact, why the fellow was... Why he couldn't even talk straight. I could hardly understand him. He was so excited. Well, he says, he just never saw anything like it before in his life. He said he was up on the roof with his binoculars. And he said, well, it was the hugest thing he ever saw. And he says he never... He always laughed at that idea before, but he's going to believe it now. It sure was tremendous. And so on and so on. And then he hung up. He said, oh, he said, I have to answer telephones now. They were calling in from all over. We got hundreds of calls from all around. So he hung up. Information center.

[25:00] Development of Troxell's experiences and reflections

So Tad and I were so jittery. I said, well, let's go out and see if we see any more. So we went outside. And from our front lawn in Oladina, which is slanting, and we get a wonderful view of the sky, we saw several more at a great distance. And just speeding around there. And we could hear jets, but they weren't jets that we saw. Those were saucers. And so we jumped in the car and we drove up higher on the hill. And I didn't start counting until we got up farther on the hill. But we counted six spaceships that were dead men. And we could definitely tell that they were followed by some jets, not six jets, but some jets. But they were just shooting, crisscrossing the sky, just having a wonderful time, fooling those jets. So then we came back. It was about midnight. And Tad says, well, why don't you call the station and see what they found out? He said, I don't want to call them again. So I called. And I got a carpool.

Well, he was just as full of information as the lieutenant was. But he didn't finally get around to asking me what my name was. So he told me the same story. Well, I said to him, what do you think it was? And he says, I don't know. I said, of course you know what it was. And he said, sure we do. He says, I wouldn't have believed it before, but I do now. And I said, you wouldn't say for the public's information if that was a helicopter, would you? He says, heck no. He says, helicopters don't look direct like that. So, of course, when it came out in the paper a week later that it was a helicopter, it was just too ridiculous. And when it came out in another paper that it was a balloon, a balloon that goes 800 miles an hour, you know, 1,500 feet over at Pasadena, that's quite a wind. Or anything that looks as though it would burn up. Well, it's just supposed to have three different reports for three different papers a week later.

And try and get any information out of that Mount Observer Corps, all those fellows have been fired. They've got a hold or another group. What's your name? We don't know nothing. Well, then.

I think probably the most hard to explain experience I had

was the one, was the three experiences with disappearing men. This was in August of 1955, and my feet weren't very well on the ground

as far as sausage or information concerned. I hadn't read any articles, any books at all, and I only after that began to try to find out what was the matter with me. And the first occasion of this happened when we lived in a modern apartment.

It was a door duplex, really, and it looked like a house from the outside. And the owner lived upstairs. And the windows were very, very large, as most modern buildings are. But I'm an old night owl, as you imagine, so our lights were always blaring until all hours in the morning. But the people up in that vicinity go to bed about 9.30, it seems. So on this evening, well, as a matter of fact, this owner upstairs, he wasn't a very pleasant man. He had warned us that if he ever caught our culling dog off the leash, that he'd shoot her. Well, goodness, we were very considerate, and we always kept her close by and she never let her run on anybody's lawn, but on account of those threats, why, we always took her on the leash, up the road to the vacant lot several times a day and at night. So every night, towards 11 o'clock, we took the culling dog for a walk. Well, on this particular evening, the owners had gone to bed, of course.

Everybody was asleep all over the neighborhood. And I had injured my toe. Somehow, and it was all bundled up, and so I had a slip around one foot and a shoe on the other. And I started to go up this long driveway, about 50 feet up, this double drive to the road to walk Star down the road. And Pete says, well, I'll catch up with you. I'm doing something. You go ahead. I'll catch up with you. And I said, well, I can't walk with Star. I'm just hobbling. You better hurry up. So anyhow, I hobbled up to the edge of the road. Up this 50-foot drive. And when I got up there, Star was pulling and pulling on a leash. So I thought, oh, he won't know it. I'll let her off and she can run down the road. So just as I did that, I had a feeling that he was watching. And so since I couldn't run after Star, anyhow, I just stood there. And I thought, well, if he thinks he's going to shoot this dog, I'm going to see this. So she ran on down the road way out of sight.

And I stood there. And I looked all over the neighborhood. And there wasn't a light on anywhere, nor even a moon out. And yet our lights were just blurring all over the lawn. But finally, I thought, well, why do I feel that he's watching me? So I began to look up in these windows and things to see where he was. And finally, I saw him up there on the upper deck. And he was standing with his one hand against the brick wall and one hand on the post. And he had a white shirt on and turned back at the cover. And he was rolled up the sleeves here. And the upper part of his head was in shadow. But I thought to myself, well, so if he's going to stand there and watch me, I'll just stand here and watch him. And then I thought, well, that's kind of silly. I might as well say something to him. So I just opened my mouth to say, well, good evening, Mr. Red. And he's just gone. But I always say he went out like a light.

But he didn't go out like a light because a light goes out this way when the filament lasts. And he went out this way with the outline of it last. And it was the eeriest thing that I ever had happen to me. And I stood there shaking, just shaking. And finally, Pete came running out the door. Well, I couldn't speak out loud. And I was shaking. And I grabbed him by the arm. And I said, Pete, do you see a man up there? I thought, well, maybe an eyesight is gone or something. And he said, well, no, it's all dark up there. And I said, well, do you see anything that made me think I saw a man up there?

I tried to explain to him. And he just looked at me. And he said, you better go in. Well, there's a light. I went in. That was too much for me. So I said, I better not even think about it, that something was the matter. And yet it bothered me. It bothered me a great deal. Because I knew I'd seen him. Well, then later on that year, Pete had gone east. And I was left there alone with the dog. And the owners had gone away to the wheat castle. And he had come to me just before he went. And he said, now, you won't be afraid here alone, will you? And I said, oh, no. I'm not afraid anyhow. But I do have Star here. So don't worry about me. And he said, we'll be gone for three or four days. And I said, well, that's all right. So it was during that time that I had tied Star to the front door with her leash. Because, well, she's a valuable dog. I didn't want her running. Anyhow, I didn't want her running in his grass. So I tied her onto the front door where she could get out on the sidewalk a few feet.

And she liked to sit there and watch the cars go by that night. So I was sitting inside reading. And it was about 11 o'clock. And I was reading about 10 feet from the door. And I was deep in a book. And I think by this time it was a Saucer book. I don't remember right. I think it was Dan. And I heard a man walking down this 50-foot driveway. And, you know, it wasn't registering because I was reading. But I just hear it, heard it. And I heard him walk down this driveway. And across the walk in front of me was a man. And across the walk in front of our windows. And I heard him speak to Star. And I heard her get up and, you know, came out with dog jiggles and all her stuff rattled. And finally I realized, well, that isn't the man upstairs. Well, they aren't here. Well, who is that? And so I jumped up and walked to the door to see who was out there talking to Star at 11 o'clock at night. And, well, it doesn't take you long to walk 10 feet fast to the door.

And I threw open the door. And here was Star just stretched. The length of her leash just staring into a space about six feet above the ground. And just, well, I thought she'd lose her mind. She just couldn't figure this out. Well, now, if someone had been there and had run around the building, she would have looked around the building like any dog would. She was looking right above this spot. And finally she kept looking around, seeing, looked at me for explanation. And then she leaned forward and smelled the ground where that person had been standing. Well, I had actually seen a shadow go across behind the curtains. So I knew that someone had been there, both by the foot sounds, the voice, and the shadow. And the dog saw him. So it wasn't just me. And then another time at the studio where at 6 o'clock I saw this man. And I'd never saw him before, a very fine-looking man. And I won't go into details on this, but anyhow, he spoke to me and his voice was like music.

But I thought to myself, well, what's he doing around here after 6 o'clock with all the stores closed on a Monday

and a hot, hot August with a felt hat on his head and flannel trousers and a white shirt turned open at the neck and rolled up at the sleeve.

And as I passed him, as I said, he spoke to me and I spoke to him. And I turned around to see where he was going. And I turned around and back at the shop. And you can see the whole area back there of her, oh, five, six hundred feet. And he was nowhere to be seen. And I just turned around and looked. He was just nowhere.

Well, experience with the disappearance of men and with the words of a spaceman directing us.

And all that I had been told by this last of us. And by the writing of the book. I know that we cannot speak of these space brothers without speaking of God.

For they are closer to him in understanding than we will be for some time to come. But this I learned. The chain that binds to God is thought. And the weakest link in that chain is the lack of understanding eternal man. And the phases of existence of these men who come from afar to help us.

Throughout the work of the book, I have been brought close to God. And to an understanding of our fellow men upon the universe of his creation.

The day is coming when we shall talk face to face. With our space brothers. And burn the mysteries of the universe. From those who are far above us. In fact, and in understanding. For the brothers' mission is a Christian oneness. With us and with God. God's works are centered in man. Of whatever plane of existence or level of intelligence. The space brothers are Christian. In the truest concept of this terminology. In the comprehension of the laws of God. And in the carrying out of his messages to men of earth. For the protection of earth's peoples. Who are we? To condemn or question. Forms and thoughts of God created beings. Far more attuned and therefore more advanced. Than we. His creation on earth. Is but for the deliverance of peoples. Beyond their sickly selves. Sick with fear. Sick with self-deceit. Sick with unloving hearts towards their earth brothers. How can man advance. To comprehend beyond this realm of fickle reason.

Unless he learns to know God. And know that God is in all universe. And has peopled all universe. With the wisdom of his making. Hear such wisdom. If we would accept in faith and love. All that he created. And I quote. For all the universe. Is thought. Thought created. Thought propelled. When we learn to hear the thoughts of God. We shall soon know the spaceman. Or conversely. When we have met the spaceman. We shall be attuned also. To God. We who are on the eve of world catastrophe. Have great need of listening to our space brothers. Who have given me this message. Men of earth. Do now. Thy Lord's business.

That is all. Goodbye. I want to really begin tonight. I wonder how many of you saw this editorial. In Life magazine. Crisis in science. Did no one see it? Let me read you just some fragments of it. Which are most heartening to this group. Besides this editorial. There was. An article with pictures. Towards the Bureau of Life magazine. Of January 28th. Which verified. The. Findings of. Two young Chinese. Physicists. And. Section. Or two. From this editorial. But it is certainly worth. Your getting the magazine. And looking at it. Thank you.

Thank you.

for someone to look at. The subject for my talk this evening was given me two nights

ago. Likewise was given me so much data, so much information, that I couldn't possibly

cover it in one evening. That's my talk, of course, and so I will only read extracts towards

the last of the evening from what was given me. The subject is when thoughts can speak

without any hypnosis. First of all, I want to take you back with me to 1918-1920, for I have a story to tell

you that weighs heavily on my heart, and I must tell it to this group which I know will

understand. We lived in Washington, D.C. in 1918, and those of you who are as old as I

am, I suspect that it was about that time of the World War. I was interested in the

movement of the censors, and I was very interested in them, and that was something I had never heard of before, and I would certainly like to help them. I was with one of them, and it had to be a very important person, and it had a very powerful event. It was an event of great importance. A lot of people would go there and talk to the people. It was one of those things that was called the

Conflict Against the Declaration of Independence. This was a very serious event. The world was at a crossroads. So many people were not interested. In that case, I would say that it was a very important event. I was working on it for some time. It was a very important event. The people had a lot of good feelings about it, and the people were very, very happy about it. I remained at home for many hours. I listened to them. They were very curious about it. These planchette and Ouija board were brought out for fun. And a few other engineers, that scientific train of thought, said, what's behind this?

There must be something. There must be a reason for this, a scientific reason. So several of them met at homes. Every few weeks, five or six of them would meet at our home. And they would try to understand whether it was an electrical current or a traction or what this thing was that must have a scientific answer. They didn't seem to find out. The more they puzzled over it, the worse it got, and the less answer they had. Moving tables. Mother threw up her hands. This was all just too silly for words. Big men running around the table with one finger on it, you know, making it go round. But Dad says, this isn't. This isn't so silly. This is, we're making some scientific experiments here. So after they had rotated the big round dining room table for many weeks, my mother says, now look, you've made it all rickety. You can't do that anymore. You can have this little table. Well, by that time, we'd moved back to Chicago.

And he lost track of his group in Washington, D.C. But by some miracle, he attracted another group. And this group. And in this group was a minister of a large Episcopal church, a banker, a lawyer, and another minister came in

so that the neighbors wouldn't see that there was a minister making the table go round in the dining room. And eventually, as I said, Mother had said, you cannot use the big dining room table. You will have to use this little Pembroke table. Well, Dad was quite disappointed. And I remember he did arguments about it. But he. He tied the legs together so they wouldn't rattle. And they experimented with that. Well, it was a blessing in disguise because in their experimentation, they managed to get this table to walk on two legs.

And finally, some of the men said, it seems to me that there's quite a pressure on this table. And other times they'd say, don't you think the table seems to be lighter than it did? So, of course, one of the rules of this game was that no man. It was to have any more than one finger on the surface of the table. And that finger must slide at all times. Remember as a child that we were permitted to stand in the doorway and observe this, but quietly. So that all the workings of it and the technical discussion, I didn't understand. But this one evening, I remember Dad said, well, let's get a scale and see if it gets any heavier.

You all seem to think it gets heavier. So he got the scales and he thought he was going to prove that it couldn't. And so they walked the little table over so that it pivoted on the scales on one leg.

And here were three men going around with a finger apiece sliding on the slanted surface on top. And the thought was expressed in unison that the table should get heavier. Well, imagine their considerable surprise when this little table, which weighed about 18 pounds, we'll say,

increased to a weight of 27 pounds. When they sat down and did some figuring on paper after that, they were really great at the temples. But then they tried the opposite and wondered how much lighter this table could get. Well, it didn't get as much lighter as it did heavier. But there was a difference of three pounds lighter. Well, that really finished the setting. Dad wrote several articles. Dad wrote several articles for the Psychical Research magazine of London concerning these findings. And he was as much at sea as he ever had been. He wrote from Milwaukee. She was head of the sculptural department of the Art Institute of Milwaukee.

And she said that a group up there had been doing a considerable amount of what they called automatic writing. Well, Dad didn't. No, he understood planchettes and so forth. But according to her instructions, he got himself a candy box and stuck a pencil through one end of it and posited himself in his den because Mother was really laughing at him and said that he, for a man his age and his knowledge and his ability, that this was simply ridiculous.

So eventually he was getting very interesting messages through the pencil-in-the-box system. And there was a person who kept signing George somebody. Well, Mother called him George Dethon in her division because her name looked like that. They couldn't make out what it was. So eventually my father discovered, and the box wore out, and he discovered that by thoroughly relaxing, he could simply hold the pencil between his fingers so that it would move.

He was only supporting it. And he could get the same results. Well, this was called automatic writing. Well, at one point then, Dad came flying out of his den and said to Mother,

Now, now you don't have to write anymore. I have the name, the full name, the previous address, the previous occupation, and the date of death of this man, George Dethon.

[52:00] Further experiences and interpretation

And Mother shouted. Woo! Town, Wisconsin. And I'm going to write up there and prove to you that this is all just a big hoax. So she wrote to Watertown, Wisconsin. And what was her chagrin? To have a letter back very promptly. Yes, they knew that man. He had been a pharmacist on such and such a street corner, such and such a drugstore, that he did live at the times that he stated. And his death was perfectly well registered in the cemetery outside of town. Well, after that, Mother said nothing. Dad was never quite convinced that there wasn't something, something mechanical or something scientifically connected with all this idea anyhow.

He was too stable a person to think anything else. Let us move forward in time to 1945. I will speak of my brother.

My brother, who at that time was 26 years. For he was born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1913.

Nurse Edith Cavell, who was later shot by the Germans.

My brother's life was spent in interest concerning the activities of war, not that he liked war at all.

Very much interested in explosives when he was in high school.

He was a student. Five to six subjects, all As. For the four years in high school and so forth. And became assistant chemistry professor, assistant physics professor in junior college.

He was beginning to work on explosives. But with experimenting in the basement of our house, where he had all his laboratory home equipment,

we will never forget the day that he blew the furnace door off, and pitted himself and pitted his face for a period of more than a month,

with an explosive, which of course, he learned, could not go in the furnace. He learned, however, what to do, he learned to correct his mistake. Explosives were still his business. To Southern California, and the following year, one at Berkeley.

He became so well known for his work on explosives, that he was given a nine-man crew in the name of having been shown in Life Magazine,

several pages of Life Magazine, across the country. He was given a nine-man crew in the name of having been shown in Life Magazine, several pages of Life Magazine, across the country. He was given a nine-man crew in the name of having been shown in Life Magazine, across the country. He was given a nine-man crew in the name of having been shown in Life Magazine, across the country. In all the newspapers of the country, for developing an explosive, as he said, sixty times more powerful than TNT, and then some, if he dared to try it. He wanted very much to have the government understand this and show it to them. And in an effort to prove this intense explosive to the United States government, he obtained, or rather he was able to contact one of the government officials, one Navy man and one Army man and a few others in close capacity. And immediately, across the country, shot the news, Wendell Zerman explodes the city of Berkeley.

And he was arrested. However, of course, he didn't explode the city of Berkeley, it's still there. But the university came to his assistance and realized that he really had something. Likewise did the Army and the Navy. However, they would not buy it from him. They said it was too tremendous to even talk about. It was too preposterous. So, it seems that the several outside governments began negotiating for this explosive.

France and Japan. My father, who was then in an Army hospital, pleaded with my brother

not to sell this idea to any other government than our own. However, he did go to Canada. And with his lawyer, sat at the large table in Montreal, and talking with quite a large group of physicists and top men who came from England to discuss this with him. And they wanted to buy the explosive idea outright. Or they wished him to come on a yearly salary to England and teach their men how to use it. However, he wasn't satisfied with the arrangements. And he did wish to keep it in the United States. But the United States government would not consider it. Then, of course, we went to war. And at that moment, Wendell had been in a TB sanitarium and was unable to join the forces. He was marked 4F, of course. But he was sent to Washington, D.C. to turn over all his information to the United States government. He retained one of his formulas, the most powerful of all, in code, on purpose. Because he said all they wanted to use it for was destruction of humanity.

And his purpose was in rockets to the moon, which he had talked to me about many times. So he left that one in code, hoping that if they must use it, they would send for him to decode it. Two weeks after he was rejected as 4F, he was inducted into the army by some very foolish mistake in the West Coast setup.

...private, and was placed under rigorous training,

freshly out of hospital, to be sent overseas. Here was a man with the highest, knowledge of physics. Ones which governments had tried to purchase. And it was being wasted. I was distraught. The family was distraught. So we tried all methods. By that time my father had gone on to his transition. But through the army connections, we were able to effect a transfer of this brother into the right channels in the army, where his tremendous knowledge would be of use. And proper use. However, the orders were one week behind his jumps across the country. From one base to another. He was moved. From the Middle West, from the East rather, to the Middle West, to the Far West, and on to the West Coast. And the next stop was overseas. So it was with some concern, of course, that we watched this process, hoping that the orders would catch up with him. During this time, we were living in a suburb of Chicago.

My husband was working, as all men were then, in the war plants. He was working at night. And on this particular night, although I carried my business during the day, I had put the children to bed. They were quite small. And all day long, or all afternoon, my brother had been on my mind. That evening I couldn't even read the paper. I kept thinking and thinking about Wendell. And the more I thought and wondered why I should keep thinking so that I couldn't even do anything else, I kept having the thought that he was coming to see me. And I thought, well, that's peculiar because he's had his leave of absence. He was here not so long ago. I don't know why I should feel that he's coming to see me. And finally I lay out on the sofa. Trying to analyze this sensation. And at that time, a high wind came up. A high wind. And it blew the tops of the trees and brushed them against the front of the house. And I got up and wondered

why the trees at the back weren't brushing and why just at the front. And then I realized that, well, after all, it can rain on one side of the street and not the other. I suppose it can blow on one side of the street and not the other. And so I went back and lay down with a strong feeling and sad heart, wondering where my brother was and if the orders would reach him before he got to the West Coast. And at that moment, the front door, which was a heavy oak door, and scraped on a thick carpet, the front door blew open. And I sat bolt upright wondering why should that door blow open when it takes two hands to pull it? And as I stood, I sat looking, wondering why I heard my name called, Ho. And as though there were a rope around me, I was pulled, walked, of course, towards that door. And as I approached the front door, I felt, I felt as though someone were standing. A tall someone. And I was very confused because I wasn't that type of person.

And I went over and shut the door. And as I came back, I felt this person again. And I stood there wondering, what is the matter with me? What is the matter? And while I stood trying to see what is this that seems to be in the way as I go around, I heard as clearly as if you spoke it. It's no use. She can't see me. And I went back and sat down. And believe me, when I say, the door blew open. And the door blew shut. Suddenly, alone, and started to cry. Three days later, that there was a phone call from San Francisco at midnight. My brother had been killed on the afternoon of the day that happened. Let us move forward now to 1952.

The very fall, the late fall of 1952. We were here in California. And my son, Peter, said to me one night while I was working, Mother, what was this? What was this that I hear about Grandpa doing automatic writing? And I said, Oh, I don't understand it, Pete. Don't bother me. I don't know anything about it. I was so little then. And he used to closet himself. And I really don't know anything about it. And he said, Well, why don't we try it? I said, Because I don't know anything about it. And he said, Well, Grandma used to tell me that this and this and this. Take a pencil and so forth. So I said, Well, sometime we'll try it. Sometime at his instigation we did. And as per Grandma's remembrance, I held a pencil and Pete put his hand on top and eventually we got big circles and funny things and so forth. But Pete was sort of persistent. He says, Well, Mother, if Grandpa could get writing, why can't you? And I said, Well, I just don't know anything about it.

I wish you wouldn't bother me. I'm too busy. But one night, a huge word, it was written. Salem. S-A-E-L-M. C. I thought to myself, Well, what's this? Salem. And what's O-C-L? It sounded sort of like Roman numerals but I couldn't make sure. And as a financial to my thought came the words, A time. Eventually, look in a book. One day, it must have been a long time ago because I can't remember I can't imagine what O stands for. O-C-L. And the words were written, Aegean Civilization. So, likewise, were drawn the most beautiful flowing designs. Things which I couldn't have conceived of. Knowing the history of art as I do, I could recognize resemblances to certain Grecian forms, certain Roman forms, but not enough. Not enough. It seemed even earlier because I knew all the forms from then on. So, this challenged me. And one night I took tracings of the drawings and the words O-C-L to the Pasadena Public Library. And hiding them in my purse, I went into the research room

and asked the librarian, where I could look up ancient languages or numerals or I was a little vague, I didn't know what I wanted. So she directed me to this monstrous book on a pedestal. And after much, much research, I found it. Where do you suppose? Aegean Civilization. Where O meant ten times the following numeral. 1050 B.C. Armed with this information, I went into the art department. If they had a book on ancient artworks, ancient drawings or something. So they referred me to Bossert's book, which is the best source of all. And that, likewise, is a large volume, though not as thick. And it has many colored illustrations, which start, of course, with the cave drawings. Well, I unfolded my little tracing paper and began trying to see if there was any similarity between the drawings which were given and anything in the book. And where do you suppose I found the similarity? Aegean Civilization. A-E-G-E-A-N. A-E-G-E-A-N. A-E-G-E-A-N.

On vases and urns dated 1000 to 1500 B.C.

As we still toyed with this writing business, although I was much intrigued, you can imagine, Salem kept writing, Do you not hear my thought? And I said, Hear your thought? No, I don't hear any thought. What do you mean, hear my thought? Do you not hear my thought? Over and over. And then came the day when I did. I shall not forget it. I was driving. I was driving the car. And I was just going around a turn in the road. At that time I was being negotiated into the army in the same manner that my brother had been. The same high-handed methods. And I was furious. Furious. Intense emotions those days. I was going to tell them off. I was going to be monkey monk in Los Angeles for a hearing for this boy who was in UCLA a high student.

I was going to pick up my son. I thought to myself, I'm going into that draft board and I'm going to tell them a thing or two. And in my mind as I was driving around, I was the big so and so. I was going to tell the draft board. And I had this vision of myself that all the draft boards were sitting around meekly and scared of me. And at that moment I had a whack on this ear. A box that sent my thoughts somewhere down the road. And I pulled over to the side and at the same moment the next moment into this ear as clear as crystal came the words deliver me from evil for thine is the power. And I sat there and realized that I had no power. And I was ashamed. And then I went on to the draft board and in humility remained outside and the procedures were entirely satisfactory. I had heard Salem's thought and I had learned a big lesson which I had not forgotten. It was not long after that I chose to myself now I am ready to hear let me try to hear

your thoughts. And the evening which is recorded in the book The Wisdom of the Universe the first evening I heard in sequence Peter sat at my right hand and I laboriously issued the words as I heard them. They were the nineteen truths beginning and in this manner you to the nineteenth

which said bring your mind to the voice of God for he forever directs your path. You can have no more safer plan than this. And from that moment on there was no more automatic writing. Everything from then on I heard directly in my ear and write in my own handwriting as fast as I can. A number of the thoughts which Salem gave concerning thought were this. And I think I told you last time thought is everywhere in the universe and one of the most startling things he said we think for you the mind is his. I could hardly accept this for a long time but I am going to show you tonight by blackboard demonstration and other ways how this can be so. We think for you

[01:16:00] Audience questions and discussion

the mind is his. Man's mind produces nothing without God's direction. Words are the tools

of thought. Poor thought is only man's trial at selecting words from matter called brain. There was much I learned from Salem and yet I couldn't quite believe it couldn't quite understand it but there was so much of beauty and so much of truth that naturally I kept recording. And it wasn't too long after the 19 truths the night that I first began to hear when I heard as I told you before the man outside the window it seemed and in that deep resonant wonderful voice that seemed to fill the room he gave a series of what he called sermons. Short prose poetry. Sixty six of them and I understand there are sixty six books in the bible. Likewise to me and to others who have read them these sermons are very much like the Psalms it seems prophetic in a way that the sixty six sermons were broken into two parts fifty nine being the sermons of illumination and the balance sermons of anticipation and that they were followed by three judgment days.

Just to give you an idea let me read a short one the thirty second which is on faith

for his will be done. His hand is fortune to all who take it is permanent fulfillment of the law peace be unto ye who take the masters way follow in faith towards his fulfillment feel not the servant nor the pinch of duty for thy way is one of service unto others fulfill thy needs as he intended hold to the path and ye shall see that he prospers thee fear not thy brother's wrath or reconnoitering for God is watchful of his followers that they receive the just and righteous cause proceed in calm serenity that God is with you and this ye need not

and there were the epic moments when on one occasion when I was awakened from sleep not hearing my name but hearing these words see my blind children seeking and I sat up on the edge of my bed and there was a white light like a column in the middle of the room and a white light emanating from it and it hurt my eyes to look at it but outdoors was barely the great dawn I heard again see my blind children seeking that they learn not shall be thy lesson to serve and help as I have and then it was gone and I got up and turned on the light and wrote it down those moments that sound like nothing when they're related are something so deep and so precious and so all encompassing when you encounter them no one can understand except those who experience it but now I understand the three parts of the book the first part the spirit of truth within you the spirit of truth within each man who speaks if we will listen and the second part the Christ spirit

and the third part the wisdom from God through beings and entities all over the universe these are three sources of help and have we called on them have we used them let me show you now a chart on the blackboard that I have made as a result of studying a chapter from the third book the wisdom of the universe this chapter is called mind and it comes from part three which is called universe of thought in order to clarify a thought and to present what seemed to me very new thought and I'm sure there will be much heated discussion about it but that's good I have never studied psychology nor any related subject but it was interesting to me to find after I had read taken this material down and likewise prepared the chart that it certainly does not agree with what psychologists have presented but to me it is far clearer far simpler man complicates everything God's work is straight and simple I've tried to show here

of course comes from God that God created man the soul of man and that man as everything else God created is made up of two parts all nature is of two parts all creation of two parts we look at a leaf there is a stem down the middle leaves on each side we look at the human body two eyes two nose two ears the heart the body life and death there are always two parts so man has two parts of mind the native mind which is given him and the creative mind upon which he may draw all of this side of the chart is what God gives him in the material plane to which he attains. Let us look at the material side, because that's the side we are always looking at. The native mind, the storehouse, is the brain.

And we learn through the conscious, which is the outer man, the material man, the self, self-importance. All matter is on this side. This is the conscious mind. And the conscious mind controls the five senses, and knowledge through the senses, and the only power which we are given, the power of choice, which includes a certain amount of reasoning, because reasoning is choice, when it comes right down to it. Then there is the subconscious, the asleep department, or the memory department. And this memory can be of yesterday or four thousand years ago.

The subconscious controls the reflexes. We don't have to think about it. The subconscious controls the memory and controls the sixth sense, or intuition,

all of this we are given. And men and women who think and live on the material plane cannot attain beyond this. They can use their five senses, they can do all manner of things because of their five senses, because of the knowledge gained and the memory earned, and they can pull up the memory of what they saw and did and heard and felt yesterday, or last week. They can read out of a book, they can emit what they have read out of a book, everything which pertains to the five senses as the only knowledge which man can accumulate on the material plane.

In this process, the power of choice, he may choose to remain in this level of his soul's evolution. He can remember what his, he may not remember, but he may have access to knowledge which was given him many lives before. He may not understand why he has this knowledge. He may say, I have a feeling, I think, oh yes, that is coming up through the subconscious from previous lives. But in this power of choice, he may choose to remain in this plane, or he may choose to learn from the creative mind which is given through the conscience. So there are only two parts to the mind, the conscious and the conscience, the subconscious being a subdivision. Through the conscience, the creative mind of God, speaks and moves man if he will by choice, but not without his choice. Storehouse of creative mind is creative thought of God which is all extensive. The conscience is the inner man, the spiritual man, the ego which goes on and on eternally.

Through the conscience, all thought is given, all thought which is not in this department, all creative thought, all guidance of any sort, all information concerning truths, faith, love, the purpose of life, what you are meant to do, wisdom beyond your understanding, beyond what you read out of a book, beyond what you see or heard, ideas and ideals, such as Einstein gained through hearing this creative thought, and now at last it's coming out in books, that Einstein did not care whether people knew. He was glad to have them know that he listened. And that's how he got knowledge, wisdom beyond any other man's. In this group, all of this does not come directly from God.

It comes through a tremendous cosmic web. It comes down through the Christ spirit, through beings and entities in the universe, higher above us by far in their evolution, and it comes through the spirit of truth within each man. The spirit within gives us the daily guidance. The Christ spirit teaches us the principles of life, truth, faith, love, charity, and so forth. Life's principles. And the wisdom from the universe gives us our purpose as God has directed it. Wisdom beyond our understanding, ideals, every idea that pops into the head cannot be created by a material brain. Doctors know this.

[01:34:00] Closing discussion and final remarks

Every doctor, every physicist knows that a material brain cannot create an idea. It can only register it. I realize this is a lot to think about,

but I wanted to present it so that perhaps some other time we could have a further study group because there's much more to give on that particular idea. Now by this chart, you can see that we may raise the consciousness of man. We may raise the consciousness of man by choosing to follow and hear through the conscience. And so by drawing on the conscience, we work towards God, which is the purpose of all humanity anyhow. And there are three levels of enrichment. We may feel this side. We may feel that we have a purpose in life. We may feel that we have a certain amount of guidance. We may feel a certain faith. Not quite sure, just feel it. That's step one. We may attain it by attunement, by prayer, by inner lifting, or we may attain it by hearing. Hearing the voice of Jesus the Christ, or the voice within, or the voice from the universe, whether it is a material spaceman or an etheric being beyond.

Let me read you some extracts from what I received in the last two nights. Man ascends as he is one with the Father Creator, only as he rejects, casts out, puts away, those infinitesimal operations offering Satan an opportunity. And Satan is defined as forces nurtured wrongly, hate being the strongest of these. Wisdom is a higher plane of consciousness, a formula for conquering the essences of matter, and an awareness of all the ordinary forces by which the cosmos is held. Such an awareness includes acceptance of thought mastery, centering in and spawning from the essence of God's mind, which controls all forces and presents, prepares, and focuses matter as energy, beyond its limited capability. This is a union with higher capabilities for the eternal evolution of all created elements. God teaches the lessons of earth by blazing a trail across the skies wherein earthmen may at last comprehend the magnitude of operation and the heavenly context possible.

Then concerning prayer and desires, thought is energy released and vibrates at a pitch or tone musical in feeling. That is, our thoughts going out to this. Strength comes not from the source or volume, but from the essence. Sounds or thoughts without the essence of joy or love or sorrow cannot sway a beam of sound such as a child's gay song into the cosmos. All is essence. The joy of God's work rings through the cosmos on soundless waves, and when attunement is perfect and in tune with the imperfect soul, it cleaves to him in form of sound from outer space. The more clarity the emotion, the quicker the essence is converted into sound waves, and the sooner an answer is received. When the workings of man's conscious mind is at rest, when he becomes a tuning instrument for universal thought, will his desires subject themselves to the higher forces of cosmic promise? And thereafter, will he absorb into the consciousness much plainer mastery?

For his soul is now subject to the forms of the Almighty, beyond which there is no limit and to which we persuade mankind. Thought requests, that is prayers, are answered from the higher etheric realms, down through several ethers by several processes, according to the length of the wave sent out. Let me read you

a section of this poem which I received two nights ago. I'm sorry that I didn't start writing as soon as I began hearing it, because I miss the first third, if not more. It is called When Thoughts Can Speak. All through the vastnesses of space

we pause and meditate. Where was this awe before the word was said? It came to being from the mind, poured forth by thought, spoke, was form. When thoughts can speak and cause the centuries to mourn, because of toil and heartache soar, we'll listen, and no more will thoughts swing upwards with a sigh, but joy will sing into the sky and treadmills cease when thoughts can speak. Around the clock the hours go, its weariness is sin. For who taught man this wealth to grow, this double usage for the show, to sway men's feet, another, young, to meet the master's voice is all that matters here. Enough of toil. He's speaking soft and reaching for the goal God taught, to dwell in singleness of thought. Reach out to him, for all is wrought in thought. Thought speaks to us in pain as in tranquility, but we pause not. We think it is the brain. Yet thoughts are speaking still upon the forces of the air, all universe is wrought, brought down again

to center in ourselves. For we were once a thought alone. When heaven called, we rose and shone, and thereupon he made us see all consciousness is aught but he.
