UNDERSTANDING
VOLUME XV SEPTEMBER, 1970 NUMBER
9
Dedicated to the propagation
of a better understanding among all the peoples of the earth, and of those who
are not of earth.

The vast panoramas of rugged and still primitive beauty in
Sweden are all that the tourist agencies claim for them, and more. Man and
nature seem to work well together in this country, 75% of which is still
covered by forests and lakes. (More than 90,000 of them.) It is likely to be a
long time before Sweden runs out of recreation areas, although it must be
admitted that a large percentage of Swedes go to other countries for their
recreation.
Sweden almost certainly leads the world in at least two
areas of human progress. The first area is that of Social Security, and the
second is the area of Social Studies. Security has been the watchword and the
political slogan of the Social Democratic party which has been in power
continuously since 1936, and which seems likely to continue so for some time to
come. The efforts of this party have resulted in the evolution of a
"Welfare State" which has for years been the envy and the model for
other socialist governments.
Now however, a new revolution in thinking is beginning to
manifest itself and a new national goal is emerging. By what may, or may not be
a coincidence, this goal is identical with that which is now being advocated in
the United States, although the new concept is derived from two somewhat
different points of view.
2 UNDERSTANDING
Since the day when the United States declared itself to be
a sovereign and independent nation, freedom has been the watchword of all
Americans. The possibility that freedom might be lost has, at times become
almost a national phobia, although we have, at the same time, surrendered, more
or less willingly, large areas of our freedom in exchange for convenience or
security.
Today the concept of Equality is rapidly replacing that of
freedom in America, and security in Sweden, as a national goal. Simply to be
free or secure is no longer sufficient. There must also be equality of
opportunity, equality of status and of human dignity. Much of the strife and
dissent in the United States, and to a smaller degree in Sweden, results from
the determination and the struggle of minority groups to achieve opportunities
and dignity equal to that of the majority groups. If this equality and dignity
is to be achieved however, there must be a substantial increase in the overall
level of human understanding. To reach this level we must establish better
means and better habits of communication, and we must also discover more points
of identification and more areas of mutual agreement with our fellowmen.

A few years ago, I stepped into the world of psychic
phenomena. It was while I was in confusion, darting in all directions, that a
strange thing happened to me; an incident of such importance that my whole life
was changed.
I attended a party, and was a little amused to see a lady
reading hands. There is always one at every party. She told me a few things
that could have applied to any individual in the room. I leaned across and took
her hand, as I wanted to put an end to the nonsense. I did not know, at the
time, that a great door had swung open. I was already in the future!
I studied the mass of intricate lines interwoven with crosses
and stars. It seemed as if a mist had been torn apart by living pictures. I
told this lady a tale of life, of her characteristics sprinkled with their
strengths and weaknesses.
She turned quite pale and murmured, "I didn't know
you read hands?"
"I don't," I snapped, "so you see it is a
lot of nonsense."
SEPTEMBER, 1970 3
I shall always remember her face when she retorted,
"I think you have something you don't know you possess." I did-I had
a tiger by the tail!
My mother is a very proper and charming woman; she is
rather proud of my abilities in the business world, and of the few
"choice" poems I enclose with my weekly letter. I have never told her
of my jaunt into the field of handreading. It would shock her tremendously. I
can almost hear her say, "you mean-gypsy handreading?"
The gypsies came in the spring, delightful brown people
with handmade, colorful paper flowers and mats. I shall always remember one
serene-faced woman who asked me to show my hand to her. My mother whisked me
through the doorway with a spank of disapproval; yet, I was always drawn to
them-the gypsies and their brown-eyed children. The gypsy camp, although
forbidden, gave me a feeling of great freedom and a zest for life.
I believe there is a validity in the way the gypsies read
hands. Surrounded by mystery, these vibrant people have discovered a code. I
don't think, however, we have to be gypsies and wear golden ear-rings to read
hands. I do feel that I did stumble on this code a few years ago; a code not
governed by Black Magic nor, in any way, conflicting with my religious ideas.
It is a very simple truth.
The brainwaves. the heartbeats; the people we really are,
down de ;p ; the tragedies of our failures and the fires of our spirits write
their stories across our hands-the left hands.
Some people ask me: "Why do you read the left hand
and not the right?"
I have found, through reading experience, the right hand
shows the way we would like to appear to the world-our own little stage play;
the left hand shows our true nature; our potential; our instabilities and lack
of insecurity. Strangely enough, left-handed people still show the spirit-as I
call it-in the left hand.
One Sunday afternoon, I was watching a travel film, and a
native of a far-away island was interviewed regarding handreading. She said she
read the left land and gave, roughly, the same explanation. The strange part of
it was this: I came to my conclusion through trial and error; this lady had
been reading hands since she was a little girl. Coincidence-or another link in
the magic door?
To summarize: I believe, in the near future, a
break-through wilt
4 UNDERSTANDING
be made by this method, particularly in the medical and
psychiatric fields. I believe that physicians will be able to diagnose ailments
(especially heart trouble) and chronic diseases by studying the left hand; that
psychiatrists will decode several mental disturbances and brain disorders.
The door is opening wide--I see beyond the horizon that
mental retardation in infants will be instantly recognized by lines on the left
hand.
This science-and I shall call it a science-can never be
placed in the hands of the charlatan: its textbook will be a medical journal.
Handreading is so delicate an art that only qualified persons will be allowed
to participate. It came with the gypsies and, one day, it will be a great
science.
Naturally, no handreader is allowed to diagnose illness,
nor can the reader hint at such a thing, or she would be accused of practicing
medicine. This also applies to the psychiatric field. No handreader has a scrap
of status because all handreading is damned because of a few charlatans.
Astrology had to receive a court hearing before an
astrologer was granted a license. Will this eventually touch the qualified
hand-analyst? Will we be allowed to prove this science to a judge? Only then
will vital research be instigated.
I believe in a future for handreading-so great, that it
stuns the imagination of the loftiest sage. If we can accept the magic of past
civilizations producing vital discoveries, can we not believe in the
extraordinary light of the coming years?
Nature registers its progress-second by second, year by
year. So do our hands change, illuminating this small graph of mind and body.
The door is open-take my hand. It is an exciting world, this world of tomorrow.
Open Sesame! There are treasures beyond.

Man has spent much time searching for Truth, as though it
were a concept reducible to a blob one might find somewhere under a tree. This
writer wonders how much longer we will continue in this manner. It's time to
stop approaching the need to know as though it were some
SEPTEMBER, 1970' 5
thing outside ourselves. Ernest Holmes in his book, Science
of Mind wrote that "what we are looking for, we are looking
with!" That seems to make sense for the Truth Student of the New Age for
it pinpoints the actual source of all experience. If we accept our "outer
selves" as the manifestation of our "inner selves" (You are what
you think!), we then recognize all expression has to exist in thought before we
can externalize it. It follows, then, that the Truth we seek is already within
us! Truth is indeed a very personal thing for each of us. The sum total of the
way we see and do things is woven together in our consciousness to form an
ever-expanding pattern of Self. This makes Truth so individual that I recognize
that unless you can see all things from the same identical perspective, within
the same identical environment of experience, you cannot hope to understand
how I completely feel about what I know. Yet, isn't that what we generally
strive to do-to understand each other as though we really were each. other? I
don't think we can do that, therefore it is time for us to stop trying.
Perhaps we can realize how we gain Truth for ourselves by
the following example: Imagine a lecturer lowering a large cardboard box
painted a different color on each of its six sides into the midst of his
audience. If he were to ask each person present the color of the box, the
responses would vary according to the angle of view of the individual
listeners. But all responses would be true! No two people in the room
would have exactly the same perspective, for no two people can possibly view
from identically the same eye position. Each would report in terms of his own
personal, non-shareable perspective. So matter how close in position two or
more people see the box, nor how much in agreement they may be as to general
color tone, the separate viewing experiences will vary because of the
variance in lighting, etc. This variance creates the individual's own
environment. Since we cannot share the identical eye position space, our bodies
cannot share the identical environmental space and we cannot share an identical
experience of Truth! For instance, for me spacecraft do not exist. I
simply have never seen one. I have never been where they are supposed to have
been. Just because I have never seen one I can't say others haven't. I must
allow far the possibility that those who have seen spacecraft are viewing a
segment of Truth from the other side of the Truth box, and-that their sightings
are real, Truthful experiences for them. I
6 UNDERSTANDING
have no choice but to allow for that. Also, I must allow
for the possibility that one day-as my Spiritual Environment changes-I will be
where they are and I, too, will find spacecraft in my perspective. So it must
be with all things, not just spacecraft. Your experiences of Truth and my
experiences of Truth, while segments of the whole Truth, are somehow so
personal and dependent on our separate Spiritual eye position that it is impossible
for another to "get in the way." In the example of the painted box,
there are as many direct paths of perspective as there are viewers. These paths
do not cross nor blur each other. There is, however, conflict if one person
tries to occupy the identical eye position and therefore must infringe on
another's environmental position. The younger generation calls this
"getting into someone else's bag" and they suggest we avoid doing
this. I also suggest we avoid doing this because it is an impossible task. We
must permit ourselves and others adequate viewing time and space to resolve the
experiences we are each having. This is the only way we can ever hope to live
together without conflict! This, to me, is understanding. Permitting the other
person the validity of his own Truth experiences without having to attempt the
impossible feat of sharing it completely. Understanding, then, is not a
"thing" of itself as we have long thought, but is a result of the
whole of humanity permitting its separate parts (us) to experience that portion
of Truth, we need without interference. This is not an agreement to disagree,
but is, instead, a willingness of each to allow for the growth of others in
terms of what they, themselves, "see."

This land belongs to the Indians, spiritually. It is
theirs-we are interlopers who came and now are living here, claiming
possession. But we have never gained spiritual possession, even while keeping
the real owners in subjection. They too, have lost possession through being so
displaced and divided amongst themselves. However the Indian Spirit is still
there and is at last being reawakened.
These people from the ancient past have been looking for a
White Messenger from the East from time immemorial. It is in their visions,
'carried down by legend and secret teaching, This made them easy
SEPTEMBER, 1970 7
prey to the hordes of intruders who came to possess the
land and its abundance. The White Messenger was not amongst them.; only those
unscrupulous ones were always in the majority, despoiling the wealth of animal
life, and laying waste much of nature's abundance.
After much suffering and misunderstanding the Indian
Spirit is being revived and there are those now coming forward with the message
from the East which is one of love and understanding amongst all peoples. It is
the Message that is important, and it is coming forth through many channels-One
Spirit, One Message-but finding expression through the minds and hearts of more
than one individual, from many races.
This is as it should be, and is probably the correct
interpretation of the second coming of Christ, in the hearts of humanity as a
whole. If this is so, as many believe, He is already here and His influence is
over the whale earth; a great spiritual urge which cannot and must not be given
a name, because no name can contain its greatness, or find acceptance
everywhere. It is in truth the Great White Messenger-white not because of being
confined to any one race, but because of the wholeness and purity of the white
spiritual light which contains within itself all the colors of the spectrum,
each one beautiful in itself, but combining in one white spiritual light. It
has nothing to do with the color of the skin, and is purely of the spirit.
William Willoya and Vinson Brown have written a book
called Warriors of the Rainbow, beautifully illustrated by Indian
artists, relating some of the prophetic dreams and visions of the Indian
peoples in which they look forward to a time of peace and brotherhood,
especially with their white conquerors. These come from many widely separated
tribes with different language and culture. They are almost unanimous in their
expectancy of a White Messenger from the East, all over the Americas. It forms
a pattern.
While futile attempts to defend their land were made by
the Indians, one tribe, the Hopis have always been a People of Peace. As a
result they have been able to keep in purity their own religious beliefs,
offering their knowledge and wisdom as their contribution to world peace.
We must seek out the truth, and find the meaning of these
prophetic dreams, many of which have already come to pass. But they will not be
complete until peace comes to all mankind. The reawakening of
8 UNDERSTANDING
the Indian Spirit is so great a movement now, and is of
such importance to the movement for peace and understanding we should be awake
to the possibilities for us to right an old wrong. We could profit much ourselves
by cooperating with this emerging beauty and vitality of expression. It will
add richness and color to our own treasured store of knowledge, as well as be
of great help to the Indians to value and preserve their own inherited
traditions and religious beliefs. There is nothing else like it on the face of
the earth. The same kernel of truth is there that we already love and cherish.
We need each other, and together we can welcome the White
Messenger from the East-and work for peace for all mankind.

South America
(With thanks to our correspondent in Argentina we offer
these translations of new items which appeared in the newspapers of Buenos
Aires.)
La Razon, April 10, 1970-Rosario: A strange
luminous object was watched by several people while it crossed the sky in the
vicinity of Capitan Bermudez, situated at 18 km.. from Rosario, on National
Route 11 leading to Santa Fe.
According to Mr. Jose Barrios, of 926 Gallini Street,
Rosario, he happened to be at the sports club Juan Ortiz, at about 1:15 A. M.
last Sunday, when he, together with several other people, saw a cigar shaped
UFO proceed slowly from South to North over one of the islands in front of
Capitan Bermudez. The odd flying object was very large, twice the size of a Comet
plane, affirmed Mr. Barrios, was luminous at both extremities, but had no
windows. After a few minutes it gathered speed and flew away, leaving a certain
luminosity in the sky until it disappeared behind the islands of the River Parana.
La Nacion, May 16, 1970-Bahia Blanca:
Bright, unidentified flying objects have once more been seen and photographed
over Bahia Blanca. According to Mr. Hugo Taboada, photographer of the newspaper
"La Nueva Provincia," who in 1963 took one of the first photographs
of an UFO in Argentina, this sighting took place at 7 P. M. on one
SEPTEMBER, 1970 9
of the first days of this month. Alerted by his wife that
a luminous object was moving over the North-East sector of the town, he seized
his camera, a Petri 7 S, and jumped into his car in order to find an open
space, free from buildings, trees and telephone lines. He came to the same
place where he took his first picture in 1963 and took five pictures. When
developed they showed two identical continuous zigzagging forms (almost like
twisting worms) which was due to a long exposure-3 seconds with a diaphragm of
2-8.
To the naked eye the two UFOs looked like rugby balls,
with a reddish light at the rim. and white and blue in the centre. The light
changed from great brightness to a milkish white with a pulsating rhythm. The
objects were 25-30 degrees over the horizon, and visible for about half an
hour, and then flew away slowly.

The Home Perfect
There is a vision which I would share with .you. It is the
glory of the home perfect.
Understanding runs out to meet you when you approach the
door of the home perfect. The inhabitants thereof are slow to anger, plenteous
in mercy, rich in sympathy, and crowned with the ageless insight of the heart.
When the arms of understanding are about you the frustrations, fears and
foibles of life lose their power to pauperize the soul. This is the glory of
the home perfect.
A climate of compassion greets you as you cross the
threshold of the home perfect. The very air is vibrant with the attuned
resonance of soul-friends. Her dearest dream is that he shall meet in her a
love that knows no limits. His highest hope is that she shall meet in him a
devotion that fulfills her fondest expectations. Both delight to heal hurt
places of the spirit. Both yearn to make life whole by cheery kindness, and by
boundless buoyant care for all that ministers to the goodness and greatness of
each. This is the glory of the home perfect.
A creative comradeship fills with its lilt and laughter
every living room of the home perfect. Each is tutor to the other. Deep calls
unto deep, and hears an answer; an answer more filled with meaning and imagination
than ever it could have been if they two had not become one household. Each
calls out from the other a best they scarce knew
10 UNDERSTANDING
they possessed. Together they see more clearly and climb
more surely than ever they could have seen or climbed alone. This is the glory
of the home perfect.
In the place of communion at the heart-side a kneeling
pair is the center of the home perfect. There is the keystone of a common faith
a trust that holds aloft the arch of life twixt earth and heaven. They only who
walk together in sweet, deep, strong communion can know the supreme joy and
utter freedom of absolute, fear-less trust. They only have a confidence that
caresses every frown until its furrows fade. They only have the secret of how
to make daring dreams into living deeds-together; for they alone have made the
loving heart of the Eternal the living inspiration of all their ways. This is
the glory of the home perfect.
This is the vision I see before me. It will be yours-if
you make it so, together. Then shall your hearts sing with joy through sunshine
and through shadow; for then shall you have made your home-the home perfect,

UFO Report by Heyerdahl's Crewmen
(Arkansas Gazette, Little Rock, Ark., June 13,
1970)
CLEARWATER,
Fla. (UPI)A radio message Friday from explorer Thor Heyerdahl's papyrus boat
Ra 2 said crewmen sighted an unidentified flying object on their voyage across
the Atlantic Ocean toward Mexico.
The message, by shortwave radio from navigator Norman
Baker, said the UFO moved across the horizon for several minutes and
disappeared in "a bright orange flash."
The North American Air Defense Command, headquartered at Colorado
Springs, Col., said it doubted the UFO could have been connected with any space
shot. An officer at NORAD suggested, "It might have been a meteor."
Baker said the sighting was made Thursday morning as the

ancient Egyptians could have used papyrus boats to bring their culture to the Western
Hemisphere centuries before Columbus landed.
One member of the crew, Ait Madani, spotted the UFO as he
was at the helm of the vessel.
"Madani said he watched it for several minutes as it
moved from right to left about 20 to 30 degrees above the horizon to a point in
the sky, then watched it descend," Baker's radio report said. "He
said it was orange, much brighter than the moon, which they could observe at
the same time.
"After descending to the horizon, or perhaps the
other side of the horizon, he saw this flash, and then it disappeared."
Something Else To Worry About
Medford (Ore.) Mail Tribune, June 22, 1970
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (UPI)-One of the world's most vital, but
least known natural resources is in danger of becoming seriously contaminated,
according to an electronic scientist here.
The electromagnetic frequency spectrum, which spans
transmission of everything from brain waves to cosmic rays, is being contaminated
by electromagnetic interference to such an extent that most cities are
virtually blanketed in an electromagnetic fog, according to Dr. Heinz Schlicke,
chief electronics scientist of the Allen-Bradley Co.
This contamination of the spectrum, according to Schlicke,
threatens disruption of automated production lines, weapons and communications
systems, and medical and other equipment.
Strange Announcement
(La Razon, Buenos Aires, Argentina)
LENINGRAD: A strange announcement has been made in the Soviet
Union today.
Scientists who had been investigating the polar zones of
the country, found an ice-berg 250 meters high, which contains "cosmic
dust and air-bubbles of ancient times," says the report.
Capturing Clouds
(Christian Science Monitor, May 16, 1970)
British meteorologists would like to be able to capture a
bit of cloud, preserve it, and then study its droplets at leisure.
12 UNDERSTANDING
But that's not so easy. And researchers at the
Meteorological Office's research center in Bracknell think they can achieve
virtually the same objective by taking a three-dimensional
"photograph" of a handful of cloud by use of holography-a technique
for creating three-dimensional images with laser light.
The office now has an apparatus working in the laboratory
whereby holograms can be made of simulated cloud streaming past the device. The
office hopes to be able to mount this apparatus on an aircraft within a couple
of years and take holograms of actual cloud samples. When working with images
of natural clouds, meteorologists hope to gain new insight into precipitation
processes and perhaps into means for controlling them.
Closer Look at Venus
(The New York Times, Friday, July 17, 1970)
A modification of the world's largest radio telescope that
would, in effect, bring Venus as close to the earth as the moon seems likely in
view of provisional approval of the project by a House committee.
The plan is to convert a 1,000-foot-wide antenna that is
suspended in a valley near Arecibo, P. R., into a radar 2,000 times more sensitive
than any in existence.
The surface of Venus is invisible because the planet is
perpetually enveloped in clouds. However, echoes obtained from it by
earth-based radars have given hints of mountain ranges and other features on
its torrid surface.
When the conversion is finished, the antenna is expected
to produce images of the hidden surface of Venus as detailed as photographs of
the moon taken from the earth.
Occult Boom Underway
(The Marietta, Ohio, Times, Friday, June
19, 1970-By Louis Cassels)
One of the most curious phenomena of contemporary American
life is a tremendous upsurge of public interest in astrology, witchcraft,
spiritualism and other occult arts.
"The present `occult boom' seems to have tapped a
hidden reservoir of the mind," says Editorial Research Reports.
"Classes in the history of witchcraft, sorcery and the black arts are
being taught in many high schools and universities, and they are usually
over-enrolled. "Bookstore shelves are laden with occult books, both
sensational
SEPTEMBER, 1970 13
and academic. More than 1,200 daily newspapers in the United
States publish columns on astrology.
"There is abundant evidence that millions of persons
half-believe, are willing to believe, or do indeed believe in mysterious forces
that are dismissed by science and most Western religions as superstition."
The Rev. David H. C. Read, pastor of Madison Avenue
Presbyterian Church in New York, says there is today a great "yearning for
the transcendent," particularly among young people who are in revolt
against a secular and materialistic society.
Psychotherapist Ludwig B. Lefebre, writing in Psychology
Today magazine, agrees that vast numbers of people are seeking ways "to
get beyond themselves." And most churches, he says, are not responding
adequately to this hunger for "direct contact with a suprahuman
agency."
Irrelevant Research Criticized
New Rochelle (N. Y.) Standard Star,
July 23, 1970-by Donald Forbes
LONDON (AP)-Eighty young scientists from Europe, America
and Asia are demanding an end to "irrelevant" research and more
emphasis on solving such problems as famine, pollution and the population
explosion.
The group, in London for an international science seminar,
said Tuesday that 90 per cent of the world's scientists are "wasting their
time" on experiments that are unimportant and sometimes even harmful to
humanity.
The scientists, most of them under 30, suggested:
-More intensive research to spot possibly harmful
long-term side effects from such things as drugs and pesticides.
-National research organizations that would guarantee the
independence of science from industry.
-More concentration on world hunger and overpopulation.
-Deeper consciousness among scientists of the moral
aspects of their work.
——— ♦ ———
(With much discussion relative to the population explosion
of today these words of Father Subramuniya of the Himalayan Academy seem
relevant.)
Population explosion is a phrase more and more on
everyone's sub-conscious
14 UNDERSTANDING
these days. There are those who tell us that if the
earth's present birth rate continues we will all smother to death elbow to
elbow in another 100 years. "Be fruitful and multiply" somehow no
longer carries the aura of enlightened sanctity that it did even fifty years
ago. Just how many people is the earth going to hold.
To find an answer we have to look to the rather intricate
facts of reincarnation. Even science is ready to contribute to these facts,
known to the mystics, for the new perceptions of science into sub-atomic
structures border on occult perception, and reach into the very arena where
Soul and Consciousness come into being, inside the atom...
It is in the atom that the soul of man is contained. The
atom that first appears in primitive physical forms, in the life of an amoeba,
will one day be contained in man, but it must take on many forms in its
evolution.
By the time the atom has created around itself a mature
astral body, it is called man. He distinguishes himself in his first
incarnations as a young soul. The astral-emotional body of the young soul
expresses itself through the faculties of memory, reason, and material will,
but as the astral body evolves, it becomes refined, to be eventually replaced
by the new casual body or spiritual body which the soul-atom has now created
around itself.
On the path, the slow disintegration of the astral body
allows the person to perceive the soul for the first time as a Star, or Light.
As, mind and emotions become controlled, he begins more and more to see the
unreality of the world of form. After the birth of the Christos, the spiritual
body, it too must enter the discipline of maturity before it fully replaces the
astral body consciousness and complete Self-Realization allows the original
Atom to return to the formless state.
In all of this evolutionary process in which the Atom
attracts to itself new atom clusters, its appearance on the earth in a physical
body depends on the mass vibratory rate of the earth's consciousness at any
time, just as the place of birth depends on the vibratory attraction between
the souls of the parents and the descending Atom. Although that Atom is never
entirely disconnected from the Earth vibration, it may be without a physical
vehicle for a time if the conditions of the Earth are not ready for its
physical return.
Thus Soul-Atoms are now in the process of entering human
birth for the first time, passing quickly over from the animal kingdom to
SEPTEMBER, 1970 15
form the astral body of man. Other Soul-Atoms which have
long since exhausted their astral body karma in terms of Earth time are
returning for the New Age. They were the advanced beings of recent centuries.
The Earth is now ready to receive them and to provide the experiences that will
bring to birth and maturity the spiritual body -which is not subject to
reincarnation.
It is therefore no explosive accident that increases
population; merely the operation of the Law.

UFOS-OPERATION TROJAN HORSE, by John A.
Keel-published by G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York $6.95
Mr. John A. Keel worked full time for four years to
investigate and :research UFO events and reviewed more than 2,000 books, not to
mention magazines and newspapers, in order to compile this unusual and
startling book.
The reader is carefully led down pathways of detailed
explanations .and factual examples of the patterns of the UFO phenomena.
The background effort of Mr. Keel is tremendous. He
interpolates material from the many books he has researched with a finesse that
provides a fast-moving and exciting journey. He has the literary ability to
weave all segments of the "unusual," not only UFO's, but
spiritualism, demonology, angelology and even theology, into a comprehensive,
concise cosmic hoax!
To quote from Mr. Keel: "Whatever the UFOs are up to,
they are doing it on a very large scale all over the earth, and it is
inevitable

that they should come into contact with some of us from
time to time, either accidentally or by design. When such contacts do occur,
they deliberately hand out ridiculous false information. They exploit our
beliefs and hide safely behind the limited credulity of our scientists and
governments. It is time that we got wise to this simple psychological trick.
They've been pulling it on us for centuries. . . . Buried within the context of
all the contactee's messages there are clues to ... a direct threat to us. Each
contactee has been able to pass on a small fragment of the real truth. The
endless descriptions of peaceful far-off worlds and shining cities of glass are
only subterfuges.... Somebody somewhere is having a good laugh at our
expense."
The author goes to great lengths to convince us that
"the UFO phenomenon is actually a staggering cosmic put-on; a joke
perpetrated by invisible entities who have always delighted in frightening,
confusing and misleading the human race.... The real UFO story must encompass
all of the many manifestations being observed. It is a story of ghosts and
phantoms and strange mental aberrations; of an invisible world which surrounds
us and occasionally engulfs us; of prophets and prophecies, and gods and
demons. It is a world of illusion and hallucination where the unreal seems very
real, and where reality itself is distorted by strange forces which can
seemingly manipulate space, time and physical matter-forces which are almost
entirely beyond our powers of comprehension.... Many flying saucers seem to be
nothing more than a disguise for some hidden phenomenon. They are like Trojan
horses descending into our forests and farm fields, promising salvation and
offering us the splendor of some great super civilization in the sky."
Could Mr. Keel be on the right track? Is our planet being
systematically manipulated by forces or entities from a space-time concept,
into a "Dark Age of fear and superstition?" You are invited to peruse
this exceptional book and decide for yourself. This writer has chosen to keep
her head in the proverbial sand like an ostrich and continue to believe in the
goodness of mankind and in the presence of a loving Universal Spirit.

What Is Happiness
Tho Pleasure and mirth may be easy to find
Happiness comes with peace of mind.
Pleasure you may welcome if it is earned,
But for escape it had better be spurned.
It is not a chance nor a passing mood
It is not a thing that may be pursued!
If you deserve it, it comes your way
Not in to-morrows but here and to-day.
Happiness is the result of a cause
It is one of God's natural laws.
A life of sharing, a life of giving
That is the only, the true way of living.
We are small Gods, every one of us
We then must live lives with purpose
Are you now living creatively?
Why then my friend, there you have the key.

I Would Know My Brother
I tear down the walls of opinion
That separate my brother from me.
I set Him free
From projections of myself
So that I may see him as He is
I will not measure him with the yardstick of yesterday
For mayhap in the night
The Angel of Light
Revealed to him what He Is
And Tomorrow-He may be That.

Unit 78 Reports
Mrs. Shirley Lewis, President of Unit 78 of Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida, called "The Cosmic Club of Understanding" writes
The Unit wishes to share the names of two speakers with
other Units. We are privileged to have Abbie Randall, the author of You Can
Have Pyschic Power, living in Ft. Lauderdale. It is a great experience to
follow her lively conversation. At 87 she is flying around the country, always
alert for something new. She's a good example of what Understanding can do for
one!
The Rev. Noel Street and his wife, Colleen, lectured here
on saucers, healing and yoga. This team combines many worthwhile subjects, all
of value to Understanding Units. They come from New Zealand and have lectured
in London, Australia and many places in the States. Their approach is warm and
sparkling, channeled for the instant need of the audience. Cannot recommend
them too highly. They can be reached at P.O. Box 27, F D R New York, N. Y.
