UNDERSTANDING
VOLUME VIII FEBRUARY, 1963 NUMBER
2
Dedicated to the propagation
of a better understanding among all the peoples of the earth, and of those who
are not of earth.

Many members of Understanding have asked what they can do
to make a concrete contribution towards bringing about a greater degree of
understanding among the people of the earth. Reprinted below is a report from
the Twin City, Minn., unit about a recent project, which we feel is probably
the best example we've seen of just what individuals and groups can do:
The Twin City Unit of Understanding held an old-fashioned
American Christmas Party at the home of the President, Dr. Johanna Van Poperin
on Saturday evening, Dec. 15th ... with an International flavor. Guests were 22
graduate students attending the University of Minnesota. Mid-quarter
examinations had just been completed and all the guests were in a holiday mood.
A car caravan formed at the University and came across the
two cities. .. all the guests thus arriving together. They were from Norway, Indonesia,
Formosa, USSR, Germany, The Netherlands, Iran, Lebanon, France, Nigeria, Ethiopia,
Egypt, Zanzibar and Australia. The house had been decorated profusely, and
every Christmas tradition was used from the wooden shoes of Holland to
Christmas wreaths, crèche, lighted candles, Christmas bells, holly, mistletoe,
2 UNDERSTANDING
angels, and pine boughs everywhere. In the corner stood a
Christmas tree, lights already on, but untrimmed. On the tables were all the
trimmings.
After the welcome the students were invited to take part
in the Christmas buffet, served throughout the evening. Consumed were 20 dozen
Christmas cookies, many fruit breads, German kuken, Poppy seed coffee cake, pop
corn balls, candies, peanut brittle, and enormous amounts of Christmas punch
and coffee.
The tree was trimmed by the guests; the young ladies
stringing cranberries and pop corn . . . and they proved to have ingenious ways
of doing it... after this, carols were sung. They had been mimeographed. A
great success was the "12 days of Christmas" and "O Christmas
Tree," which all the guests appeared to sing in their own languages. Then
the tree was lighted, and now came the singing of "Jingle Bells"
while they waited for Santa Claus, and they had to sing it five times before he
came . . . everyone then receiving a gift. For the gentlemen there was shaving
cream, hair tonic, cuff links, handkerchieves, manicure sets. For the ladies,
handkerchieves, cosmetics, perfume ... some books also were given. A great deal
of merriment ensued when it was discovered Santa Claus was 20 year old Judy Van
Poperin, which caused the comment by one guest, "The prettiest Santa Claus
I ever have seen." Now came coffee and more food... and brilliant
conversation. During the course of the evening we heard conversations on the
"Physical sciences vs the social"; "How a Russian is picked for
his schooling"; "Life After Death"; "Conservatism in
America"; even "Flying Saucers" and we discovered two flying
saucer fans, one from Germany and another from the Netherlands, who expressed a
wish to meet with us. Adamski appeared to be very well known.
Dr. Van Poperin made the following comments: "How can
we judge these people by our standards and are we, as Americans, doing our
share towards Understanding? I noted our young Russian friends entered into the
spirit of this party, heartily, singing and decorating the tree. Imagine our
surprise when the good-byes were said to have this guest from the USSR, whose
study is animal husbandry, express his delight with the evening and then he
said, "THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I HAVE CELEBRATED CHRISTMAS."
For just one moment, we were
FEBRUARY, 1963 3
taken by surprise as the import of the remark came to us.
Then we said, "Yes, we understand," and he stated that in his country
no one celebrated Christmas, New Year being the big holiday. He was delighted to
hear we celebrated it also. He expressed his belief that the peoples of his
country and those of the United States did not want war; that wars were caused
by greed and a desire for trade. Miss Marianne Daeg of Germany (metallurgy)
stated, "It is wonderful. How did you think of this? I have been, now, in
the United States for three years and I go home in two weeks.. . this is the
first party of this kind where people got together so cozy and homelike, and
even sang together. It is wonderful. It leaves a warm memory. "
Dr. Massoud Shahidi, Iran (Anaesthesia), "We should
do this every month," and added, laughingly, "but, of course, I don't
have to do all the work. But it is terrific."
Tjoek S. Soemodiredjo, Ethopia (public administration),
"What a delightful thing to do. You know, we do not even get much chance
to talk to our fellow foreign students, for the University is too large, and we
are too busy. But this is terrific."
An Indonesian guest, "Let's abolish the United
Nations, and take up this."
As a result of this experiment, we have decided to do it
again around the end of spring quarters ... and some of our Understanding
members now intend to invite some of these people to their homes. We know
already of one dinner party and another evening entertainment planned as a
result. We felt it was well worth it, and helped to alleviate the loneliness of
these people... who will be "on their own" during the Holidays when
classes are dispensed with, and the students for the most part, have departed
for their Holidays. The guest list included: Members of Understanding. Also:
Mr. Tor Dahl and Liv Dahl of Norway; Tjoek S. Soemodiredjo
of Ethiopia; Mr. Nurdui A. Razak of Zanzibar; Mr. Joseph T. Berhan of Iran; Dr.
Massoud Shahidi and his wife Christine of Iran (a French girl); Shehu Ahmadu Musa

(Editor's Note: The following is another article in
the El Monte, Calif., unit's research project on various types of New Age
organizations.)
Briefly stated, The Lighthouse of Freedom activity
endeavors to present to mankind today The Way-The Truth and (the right
use of) The Life which enables every individual to free himself from the
Wheel of Birth and Re-birth by the use of the practical and easy to use
applications of The Law of Life to daily problems-that Law being the
constructive use of God's most holy name "I Am" (Ex. 3:14). This is
the same Divine instruction brought to Earth by Jesus Christ some 2000 years
ago, the organization believes. Approximately 300 years after the ascension of
Jesus-this plain and simply presented will of God for all evolving here was
either forgotten or covered over by human concepts, opinions and appearances.
Jesus has said that-were this not so-at least 805c of all humanity belonging to
Earth's evolution today would be ascended with Him Now! Think of it!
Our presentation of this Truth through the Ascended
Masters' Instruction on The Law of Life is unique, the organization
feels, in that it presents a long-forgotten knowledge (by most at least) of the
individualized Presence of each lifestream -- a Personal God -- source
of each of us-our "I Am" Presence, as well as its mercifully supplied
Holy Christ Self-the Mediator between God and man, as Jesus called it. A tiny
focus of this Christ self is anchored within every human heart and holds life
in the physical form. This accepted Truth of the individualized God-presence of
each one enables a much closer contact and relationship with one's own divine
source in all daily living, expanding his own sight thereby. Thus one can
actually attain the Victory of the Ascension in the Light as Jesus did, at the
right time, according to the Wisdom of that "I Am" Presence, The Lighthouse
of Freedom believes. Every life stream in embodiment has such a divine plan
to fulfill-a reason for
FEBRUARY, 1963 5
being here-for there is no such thing as
"accident" or "happenstance" in all God's Universe. All is
run on perfect Divine Law and in perfect divine order.
This simply presented "I Am" instruction was
first brought forth publicly here in 1934 by our Saint Germaine-his name
meaning "Holy Brother"-one of His divine missions to this planet and
her evolutions being to establish, sustain and expand among humanity the
divine feeling of world brotherhood, the true meaning of "Peace on
earth-(God's) goodwill to (and for) men." Had he not done so,. gaining the
loving cooperation of thousands of life streams in America and all over the
world in the use of the Violet Transmuting Flame, the organization feels it is
very doubtful if our planet would be here today at all and, if so, there would
have been very few of humanity left upon her.

Is Venus Looking Back? "Saucer" Over California!
(From Hollywood, Calif., Citizen News,
Dec. 14, 1962)
Air
Force Intelligence officers were investigating reported sightings of
unidentified flying objects over Northern California today-unable to explain
why hundreds of persons on the ground could see them while radar couldn't.
This morning's predawn unexplained activity was the
largest UFO sighting in recent years, experts, who follow the subject with keen
interest, said.
There was widespread interest in the sightings because
they
6 UNDERSTANDING
occurred coincidentally with the arrival of Mariner 2 on
its flight path past the planet Venus.
The Air Force began sweeping the skies in the northern
part of the State after bright, pulsating lights were seen and police and Civil
Defense authorities rushed to a state of emergency readiness.
A spokesman at Hamiliton Air Force Base near San Francisco
said a report from the sheriff's office at Salinas was received at 4:34 a.m.
alerting the Air Force to the fact that a large unidentified flying object was
"going back and forth and changing colors" high in the sky over King
City.
The Air Force spokesman said the USAF immediately alerted
the State Civil Defense headquarters at Sacramento. Defense officials in turn
called the 28th Combat Center of the North American Air Defense Command at
Hamiliton where the chief controller ordered a radar sweep.
At. the same time the Federal Aviation Agency at Oakland
directed all civilian aircraft in Northern California to be alert for UFO or
unidentified aircraft.
Pilots flying in the predawn darkness flashed radio
reports that they could see lights but were unable to make positive contacts.
There was, however, "much meteor" activity in the area, the pilots'
reports to the FAA said.
Meanwhile, radar along the coast was unable to make a
positive fix on the mysterious lights.
A half hour later a second report from the sheriff's
office was flashed to the Air Force-saying that the UFO was back and now
orbiting the Greenfield-Solidad-King City area.
As radar probed for it and super sonic jet interception
was being considered, the UFO "suddenly climbed straight up and
disappeared to the south," a Hamiliton AFB spokesman said.
Twenty-three minutes later (at 5:20 a.m.) the sheriff's office at Solidad told Hamiliton AFB officials that the UFO had returned for
the third time.
New Ray Could Preserve Food Forever
NATICK, Mass., Jan. 18, 1963 (United Press International)
-- Radioactive rays now can process fish, meats and other foods so that they
remain fresh forever without refrigeration.
The process was disclosed Monday to 300 scientists at the
opening
FEBRUARY, 1963 7
of a three-day international conference on radiation
research at laboratories of the U.S. Army Material Command.
"This is the first truly new process of preserving
food that the world has received in 150 years," Dr. Edward S. Josephson,
laboratory director, said.
The $2.5 million laboratory irradiates food through the
world's largest source of Cobalt-60, a source of 1,290,000 curies, officials
said. It injects rays into foods that pass on a conveyor belt.
All food, officials explained, contains bacteria which
causes the food to spoil. Radiation kills the bacteria.
Therefore, if the food is irradiated and then packaged it
can be preserved indefinitely without refrigeration.
Refrigeration is a means of delaying the action of
bacteria. If the bacteria is killed, you do not need to refrigerate, they said.
A piece of irradiated meat could lie around a pantry for a
few months or forever, officials said, and would remain usable as long as it
was kept clean and moist. Its taste also would not change.
They said the process, now awaiting U.S. Food and Drug
Administration approval, may not have a large impact in the United States but
could revolutionize eating habits of underdeveloped nations which lack
refrigeration.
Einstein's Theory Challenged
(Alhambra, Calif., Post Advocate, Oct.
29, 1962)
A California Western University professor has sought to
discredit Albert Einstein's theory of relativity.
"It has made me a scientific heretic," says
Wallace Kantor, professor of mathematics and physics at the University.
Should he be correct in his calculations and Einstein
wrong, space travelers navigating on the basis of Einstein's theory might find
themselves off course. Distances to the stars would have to be re-determined.
Einstein announced his two-phase theory of relativity in
1905. But it's the second one which has interested Kantor. The second postulate
contends that light's speed of 186,000 miles a second is constant and
independent of time relative uniform motion of its source.
Kantor questions this. Other scientists have done
likewise. The California Western professor claims Einstein's Light hypothesis
8 UNDERSTANDING
never has been proved or disproved. It was accepted as
valid, Kantor says, on the basis of indirect experiments, the results of which
he began to doubt in 1956.
Kantor says that what he calls the error of the Einstein
theory has not been revealed before because there has not been much use for it.
Now, however, scientists are planning to use it in space navigation on the
assumption that it is a true gauge of celestial measurement..
If Einstein's theory is incorrect, as Kantor believes it
to be, it's imperative that it be corrected or replaced, in the professor's
view. One of the popular explanations of the Einstein theory is involved in the
story of twins. One stays on Earth while the other goes to another planet in a
space ship, traveling near the speed of light. The twin returning to Earth,
according to Einstein's postulate, would be younger than the one who stayed
behind. And the watch he took with him to the other planet would run slower
during the journey than a watch in his brothers pocket on Earth.
Finding Extra-Terrestrial Life Should Be Goal
(United Press International)
IOWA CITY, Iowa, Jan 5, 1962--Finding life on other
planets should be the top-priority scientific goal of the nation's space
program.
A group of American scientists who held an eight-week
study session at the University of Iowa last summer made the plea in a bulky
577-page report to be turned over to the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA) Sunday.
"On solid scientific grounds, on the basis of popular
appeal, and in the interests of our prestige as a peace-loving nation capable
of great scientific enterprise," the report said, "finding and
exploring extraterrestrial life should be acclaimed as the top-priority
scientific goal of our space program."
The scientists warned that there many be a danger of
spending too much time getting man into space without having a clear idea of
what he is to do once he gets there.
Warm Water Lakes Found in Antarctic-Underneath Ice
(From Portland Oregonian, January, 1963)
Truth is stranger than Hollywood in the mysterious
Antarctic continent.
FEBRUARY, 1963 9
Although a major portion of the world's water is locked up
here under ice there isn't a river or even a creek on this fifth largest
continent. But there are a few lakes.
Although this is the coldest spot on earth warm water has
been found in two of these lakes-under 15 feet of perpetual ice. Scientists
couldn't believe their instruments when they first drilled through scarred,
cracked fresh water ice hundreds of years old and found the water getting
warmer and warmer with increasing depths.
Near the bottom of Lake Vanda, which is 207 feet deep,
they found temperatures of 72 degrees Fahrenheit. In 118-foot. Lake Bonney they
recorded a temperature of 45 degrees.
Both were found in Dry Valley-an arid mountain desert
about 100 miles wide in the Victoria Range, the mouth of which lies about 45
miles across McMurdo Sound from McMurdo base.
The valley is not of volcanic origin. There are no signs
of hot, springs. How account for warm water under ice that never melts? That is
the puzzle Dr. Robert A. Ragotzkie and Gene E. Likens from the University of Wisconsin
are attempting to solve during the brief Antarctic summer.
They plan to drill through the aged ice to the mysterious
layer, of warm water and release 50 millicuries of radioactive iodine-131 at a
central point. Then they will drill at other points and with a Geiger counter
trace the spread of the isotopes in an effort to determine if there are any
currents in the lake and any mixing of the sharply defined layers.
The warm layer is several times as salty as the ocean, probably
due to concentration of salts as the lake dried up for hundreds of years, the
scientists believe. This might. prevent it from freezing but does not explain
the temperature. The possibility of "geodetic heating," from the
crust of the earth, is one possibility to be investigated.
Meantime, Dr. Ragotzkie, a practical man as well as a
scientist, is planning to pump water from the reservoir of warm water under the
ice and pipe it into the party's field tent to provide warm showers-a luxury
not found even at McMurdo, due to a shortage of fuel for melting snow water.
These lakes never thaw, except for a fringe around the
edges during
10 UNDERSTANDING
the warmest days of the Antarctic summer, usually in
mid-Dec. Tests to date show they contain relatively fresh water on the top
layers, but this grows saltier with depths.
There are a few small lakes or ponds in this strange,
barren land which are so salty they do not freeze even in winter, pilots
report. One was tested and was found 11 times as salty as the sea.

12 UNDERSTANDING
Looking backward in time, we find the American Indian's
heritage is a great one, splendid in all its implications, of which only
recently has the white man, and especially the American citizen, become aware.
In the Indian Bible, which is also known under the name,
Book of Mormon, we can trace the lineage of the American Indian back to Israel.
This self same Bible was translated about 1827 from off of Gold Plates by a
young lad named Joseph (the Seer), under divine guidance.
In the first book of the Indian Bible called NEPHI I, we
find that the prophet Lehi traces his genealogy back to Joseph, the same Joseph
who was sold into Egypt. We also find that the records kept by Lehi and then
passed on down through the generations that follow, give an account of the five
Books of Moses, and also, the creation of the world, stating that the first
parents were Adam and Eve. NEPHI I: Chapter V, Verses 11 through 16.
We find, also, that by a series of visions, the prophet
Lehi is instructed to leave Jerusalem, as it is to be destroyed, and travel in
the wilderness toward `the promised land.' Through great spiritual visions and
the aid of a round ball provided by the GREAT SPIRIT, Lehi leads his people to
a body of water (OCEAN) where his son NEPHI is instructed to build a ship.
Let us pause a moment to examine the ball that guided them
in the wilderness. NEPHI I, Chapter XVI, Verse 10:... "a ball of curious
workmanship; and it was of fine brass. And within the ball were two spindles;
and the one pointed the way whither we should go into the wilderness."
NEPHI I: Chapter XVI, Verses 28 and 29; (2S) "And it came to pass that I
Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work
accordingly to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them."
(29) : "And there was also written upon them a new writing, which was
plain to read, which did give us UNDERSTANDING concerning the ways of the GREAT
SPIRIT; and it. was written and changed from time to time, according to the
faith and diligence which we gave it. And thus we see that by small means the
GREAT SPIRIT can bring about great things."
What does this remind you of in this day of Dec. 2,1962?
FEBRUARY, 1963 13
Coming back to the ship which Nephi, son of Lehi, is
instructed to build to carry the families and brethren over the waters to the promised
land (AMERICA), we discover it is not an ordinary type of ship. NEPHI I:
Chapter XVIII, Verses 1 and 2. (1) : "And it came to pass that they did
worship the GREAT SPIRIT, and did go forth with me; and we did work timbers of
curious workmanship. And the GREAT SPIRIT did show me from time to time after
what manner I should work the timbers of the ship. (2) : `Now I, Nephi, did not
work the timbers after the manner which was learned by men, neither did I build
the ship after the manner of men; but I did build it after the manner which the
GREAT SPIRIT had shown unto me."
After the completion of the ship by Nephi, all of the
families and brethren embark for the NEW LAND which was given only to the
chosen of the GREAT SPIRIT. They arrive here, in America, between 600 B.C. and
591 B.C.
As we follow the narration in THE INDIAN BIBLE, we
discover that jealousies, disbelief, and misunderstanding begin to come between
factions of the Indian people. Those who believe in a GREAT SPIRIT, and
spiritual guidance in all thing, are gradually disliked and hated by those who
begin to go their own way into the depths of materialism, accepting no guidance
whatsoever. The ensuing results were that the non-believers, who were the
Lamanites, warred against the believers, the Nephites. We, today, can trace the
conflicts of these two factions from the first Book of their Bible, called
NEPHI I, right down through 15 Books which compiled together give the full and
complete background of the group of people known today as the American Indian.
Almost all the Nephites are killed off by the Lamanites until among the
remaining few are Mormon and his son Moroni, the lone possessors of the records
of the tribe of Israel. Mormon, wan and old, tired from the constant struggle
for survival from persecution by the Lamanites, passes on the Gold Plates
bearing the record and genealogy of their people, to Moroni, his son, last of
the white Indians. Moroni, fearing constantly for his safety and not wanting
the Gold Plates to fall into the hands of his brethren, the Lamanites, buries
the Gold Plates on a hillside called Cumorah, in what is now known as New York State.
As we read and study the Indian Bible, we can see constant
cross-
14 UNDERSTANDING
references to the Hebrew Bible. Isaiah is mentioned many
times as well as other well known prophets. The Book of Moses is referred to.
Coming down farther in time, we find that in many cases when the white man
began to encounter the Indian, he was amazed to hear the Indian quoting 'The
Ten Commandments' although the wording in a few instances was different from
what we are taught today. They recognized Jesus the Christ as a great Messiah
and as an Elder Brother. He is mentioned throughout their Bible. One of their
early prophecies speaks of his birth and the purpose for which he comes upon
Earth.
Thus, for anyone who so desires to take the time and
pursue this subject further, we suggest the reading of both of the Books, and
then draw your own conclusions.
Most certainly we all need to acquaint ourselves with more
knowledge of our brothers, the American Indian. They have contributed greatly
to our present way of life whether we are aware of it as American Citizens or
not. Theirs is a great heritage, as is ours; and we are linked together in a
common bond of LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

Taking into consideration all the `'warnings" given
people of earth at this time, through thousands of authentic writings, nothing
is more certain than earth shall be cleansed of the selfish, greedy and waring
personalities. Abraham Lincoln made this statement in regard to this Nation
some one hundred years ago: "The Nation cannot exist half slave and half
free."
At this moment it is obvious to any thinker that the world
cannot carry on divided against itself. On the one hand we have the forces of
selfishness and hate, and on the other those who would make the earth One
Harmonious Whole. One or the other must rule. Here
FEBRUARY, 1963 15
you have the battle of Armageddon explained and made clear
and as an individual "you must choose whom ye would serve."
All those who take their heads from under the "black
hood" of willful ignorance see the handwriting. Of warnings there are a
plenty. Even the Master Teacher himself, whom we name Jesus has taken a hand in
this battle of elimination and from the fine book named "The Coming Golden
Age," we quote: "Even though at the moment, a heavy cloud of
accusations and misrepresentation doth befog the issues at stake, there be a
mighty stirring of wholesale interest in the adoption of measures to put an end
to trickery and underhand methods devised to blindfold the masses and lead them
into bondage to the forces of the Anti-Christ." If He had caused` to be
-written no more than this, we would have enough to convince us that the end of
evil forces is very near. The Legions of Angelic Helpers whom He is able to
muster to the cause of justice upon our earth assures the victory. You would do
well to join Him in this cleansing of an earth.
Whether you have identified yourself with some creed or
sect is not important; the important issue is that you join with our Director
and heed His warnings. This is no time for indecision and again let us quote
from another magnificent book: "Thy path leads ever upward, and it is only
for the strong. The time is not yet lost though the struggle becomes more
intense, and thou dost become a bit more weary. The upward path is not for the
weakling-only the strong will be rewarded."
It should be known that the Father has spoken and He is
not given to idle words. Though many shall lose their physical vehicles in the
remodeling of a world, it shall not be any great catastrophe for them; a place
has been provided for their eventual rehabilitation. The strong will not need
to lose their physical bodies, for they are servants of the Most High God, Who
will care for "His Own."
Plentiful writings are about; there can be no excuse or a
pleading of ignorance of the Law to be put into action by the Forces of Light.
Nearly everyone would like to see a cleansed earth, but sad it is that not enough
join in the process of elimination of evil forces, being apathetic and nearly
completely misled.

Another Foreign Edition
“White Sands Incident," the account of Dan Fry's
experience at White Sands Proving Grounds, New Mexico, in 1950 has been printed
in Finnish. This marks at least the sixth and possibly the ninth language
besides English into which the book has been translated and printed.
The Finnish edition also includes Dan Fry's second book,
"Alan's Message to Men of Earth." It has been published by Kustannus oy
Vimana of Porvoo, Finland.
In addition to Finnish and English, the book has been
printed in Swedish, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Icelandic. Dan Fry has also
received letters at one time or another stating that the book was being printed
in French, Japanese and Arabic, but he has not seen copies of these editions if
they were actually published.
Magazine from Japan
From the Cosmic Brotherhood Association of Japan comes to
Understanding, Inc., as part of our Exchange Program, a unique and interesting
educational journal. It is called "Brothers-Worldwide Magazine for
Flying Saucer and Space People."
In the latest issue received (Summer-Autumn, 1962, Vol. 1,
No. 2) there is an excellent editorial on the present world nuclear situation;
a full report on saucer sightings as of June 24, 1962, which was termed
"Special International Flying Saucer Sighting Day"; many
FEBRUARY, 1963 19
saucer photographs, a section on World News and other
assorted features of general interest.
The feature article, a scholarly research study, entitled:
Flying Saucers in Ancient Orient, should prove of great interest to
those concerned with the antiquity of the saucer phenomena. The article is
replete with quotations from various ancient authorities and more than
generously illustrated with photographs and drawings from both archeological
and religious sources. The text is divided into several categories, i.e.,
Saucers: In the Form of Wheel; In the Form of Ship; In the Form of Wing and
Miscellaneous Forms. Part two of the article is devoted to "The Enigma of
the Sun Disk" with an analysis based on historical study.

News of the Units
SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Unit #9 reports a good meeting held in
December at which a collection was taken for the Merlin Radio Fund, as a.
Christmas gift from the unit.
DETROIT, Mich., Unit # 28-A letter from Donald Knight,
president of the unit, appeared in the most recent issue of "Voice
Universal" which is published at 8 Watling Road, Southwick, Brighton, Sussex,
England. The letter invited young people from all lands to send original
essays "expressing their deepest feelings, ideas and understanding towards
World Peace and a Brotherhood of all Mankind" to the unit, which would
compile the essays into a journal. It is believed that the wide distribution of
the proposed journal would bring inspiration to many.
CLEATOR, Ariz., Unit #49 has elected these new officers:
president, Elmer J. Ojeda; vice-president, Helen Forrest; and secretary
treasurer, William Panneck. "Visitors from a distance to Camp Red Bird the
past month have been Mrs. Helene Rassmussen, Williston, North Dakota, Wayne
Aho, Toledo, Ohio, and Kerstin Bafverstedt, Stockholm, Sweden."
Interesting sightings in the Cleator bowl in the Bradshaw
Mts. of Arizona were a beautiful green fireball very low over the group around
the campfire just after dark, and a GREAT display of
20 UNDERSTANDING
"Angel Hair" covering the entire bowl
approximately 20 miles across. This floated over just at sunset and was
extremely beautiful in its streamers up to 300 ft. long, and its clusters which
looked like feathers.
