EDITORIAL: MOVING THE WORLD

MANY MEMBERS OF ORGANIZATIONS which are devoted to the improvement of man's lot and to the uplifting of his consciousness, often experience a depressing sense of inadequacy. It appears that their efforts are of no avail. That the inertia and the apathy of the world is so tremendous that no individual or group could possibly have any effect upon it.

I have often wondered how many of these people have ever watched a pair of tug boats take a giant ocean liner out of the harbor. When the tiny tugs come chugging up to the mammoth bulk of the liner, they appear almost as two flies approaching an elephant. It seems almost conceited of the tugs to think that they could ever move such a tremendous mass.

The towing lines are drawn into place, and foam spurts from the stern of each of the tugs as their tiny propellers churn the water. The observer watches the ship for what seems to be a long time, and nothing happens. Just as he is coming to the conclusion that a mistake has been made, and that the tugs will never be able to start the ships, his eyes detect a minute and almost indistinguishable motion. The great ship is actually beginning to move!!

As the tug's engines continue to labor, the ship slowly, but surely gathers speed, and is eventually escorted clear of the harbor and into the open sea where its own giant engines may safely be put to work, and the ship is well and truly on its way to distant parts.

The task of Understanding is much the same. The impatient reformer who is determined to change the world at a single stroke, comes charging headlong against the inertia of that world, and receives only a bruised head in payment for his efforts.

It is the constant, gentle, patient, but unyielding tug which will move the world, and mould the destiny of man.

UNDERSTANDING BECOMES A CORPORATION

Understanding became a non-profit corporation in the state of California on Sept. 22, 1960. Following is a portion of the Articles of Incorporation as accepted by California’s Secretary of State:

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:

That we, the undersigned, have this day voluntarily associated ourselves together for the purpose of forming a corporation under the General Non-Profit Corporation Law of the State of California, and do hereby certify:

FIRST: That the name of said corporation shall be UNDERSTANDING, INCORPORATED.

SECOND: That the primary purposes for which the said corporation is formed are as follows:

(a) To search for true and practical solutions to those great basic problems which presently threaten the happiness, the welfare, and, indeed, the very existence of humanity upon the earth; and

(b) To promote and encourage a complete and precise determination of the true causes of said problems which, when achieved, leads directly to clear understanding thereof, opening the way to practical solution; and

(c) To chart the total area of mutual agreement in the social science of today; that is, to determine and list the total number of basic postulates or tenets designed to guide the behaviour of man toward his fellow man, which are accepted as valid by all races and creeds upon the earth today, by which process results comparable to the phenomenal development achieved by the same process long practiced in the field of physical science may also be achieved; and

(d) To chart in like manner the area of world wide agreement in the spiritual science, by means of which to achieve a rapid advance in the understanding of the true goal of life and in the practice of right relationships; and

(e) To engage in scientific and other research, study, analysis and investigation of any and all things and in any and all fields, in an endeavor to obtain new, greater and advanced knowledge; and the establishment of truth, all for the betterment, improvement, encouragement and advancement of mankind.

WAKE UP THE GOD IN YOU AND LIVE

THE GREAT CHALLENGE Of our day is to provide leaders with the courage and determination to present the truth even though many will be offended by it; and in some cases it will invite persecution. Many seals have been placed upon the minds of men, and it will take fearless leadership to remove them if the people are to be informed of the truth that will make them free.

The laws of life are simple when understood, and the average man has the intelligence to see the simplicity of them when presented in a logical way. Too much mysticism has surrounded the teachings of Christ. His mission was to abolish death, and the fear of death.

"Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner:" St. Paul said, "But be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began; but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath ABOLISHED DEATH, and hath brought LIFE AND IMMORTALITY to light through the Gospel." II Tim. 1:8-10

Isn't is true that the message our space brothers have brought us is to heed the message of Christ Jesus, and seek to purify ourselves even as He is pure.

It takes courage to stand in the doctrine of Christ against the unbelieving world and the self-righteous church members who know nothing of living the higher laws that bring forth the phenomenal power of God Almighty.

However, in spite of the ridicule and persecution that always attend those who have the courage to do anything that is different from the accepted beliefs of the majority, each person who knows something of truth should seek to impart his knowledge to others that they too may become interested in New Age work and assist in dispelling this darkness from the earth. Your influence is more important than you think. "The harvest is plenteous and the laborers are few." Each person has a divine pattern to follow, and should be encouraged to seek the will of God for him so that he may find his niche in the scheme of things and contribute to the betterment of mankind. Sometimes outside help and

guidance is needed to turn man to his God within. For this reason God has provided teachers and preachers to point the way back to God.

Almost anyone with a sincere desire to serve in the work of restoration of God's plan for earth, can become a leader of a group, whether large or small it makes no difference. As one gives out what he has learned he will receive more to give.

My book WAKE UP THE GOD IN YOU AND LIVE was designed as a textbook that can be used by any individual for his own spiritual development or used for teaching a group. It is written in such simple language that even a child can understand these teachings, and make them practical in everyday living.

One 9 year old boy told his mother that "If you need money, all you have to do is to pray for it, then forget about it and in a little while you will have it." And he demonstrated this on several occasions.

Another small boy only 7 years old has formed a group with his brothers and sisters and friends, using this book as a guide in living these higher laws. His club is called A NEW WAY OF LIVE CLUB. He hopes to teach other children some of the things he and his family have learned from reading this book.

If children this age can understand and put to use the information in this book what could a sincere adult do with it?

In 1957 my husband and I were teaching in San Antonio, Texas. One young woman there was very impressed with our message. She had no job or income but her needs were supplied, and she never even looked for a job the whole two months we were there. She found money in the strangest places and she seemed to have no concern for her supply. Her faith in us and our message was so thoroughly accepted that she quickly learned to apply the law, and had many instances of phenomenon at that time and since.

One of the main features of our teaching is the practice of Divine Love projection. This power of love can move mountains.

One man used it to remove a growling dog from blocking the door into a cafe. The dog just got up and walked away, without a word being spoken.

The main reason our teachings have been so effective, is the practice of this love projection in the classes. To those who are not so spiritually inclined it may seem foolish but all we ask is that you try it and see how well it works.

CO-ORDINATION

THE MISNAMED "Flying Saucer" movement has come of age, and by that I mean, there has appeared to be more to the phenomena, than what is on the surface. To reach maturity of judgment on this subject, we must not consider it alone; it simply is part of God's One Universe of Creation. Nothing can stand alone not even man; he is obliged to co-operate with all the forces coming to his attention. I believe it can be stated: "It is co-operate or perish."

We should, to the best of our ability, connect the ships of the skies and heavens to all other things. It is my present opinion this can be done and it is not a tiresome task, for we have many writings on this very subject of connection. To name them all would be nearly an unending task, but the so-called "Space Books" themselves now commonly circulated, make a positive connection, with the remaining parts of the Universe.

The overall fact seems to be, that earth people are stranded in materialism and unspiritual thinking, much less spiritual demonstration of that Power. We have receded from the spiritual so far, that we are in actual jeopardy, much as was Atlantis, Lemuria and Sodom and Gomorrah. As stated in nearly all the so-called space books, an attempt is being made to assist us. We are told that we do not know in what "darkness" we live, that darkness coming from lack of spiritual understanding. We simply do not appreciate the words of the Master, namely: "It is the Spirit (God) that QUICKENETH." God the Father is behind all motion, both physical and spiritual, with the spiritual preceding, at all times.

Our Brothers from other planets, know this fact and have put it into their lives and practice. By means of spiritual Power and Understanding, they conquer space, although it be millions of miles in extent. They suffer

not from lack of atmosphere, heat or cold, food, or the flying debris of infinite space, but come to us completely undisturbed. How do they do it? To them it is comparatively simple, in that they think and act as Gods themselves. Man in his capacity of spiritual being, is capable of "all things", as stated by the Master Teacher. Time and space mean little to the Spiritual Man; to him it is all in the "day's work".

Can we follow these people? We certainly can, when we develop our thinking and acting to the proper point. And on this specific point, we have many fine books of instruction, not the least of which is our Bible. We must focalize our thought and really "buckle down" to business and it need not be said, that all "negative" thinking must go out the window. Positive thought focalized, will make us Gods. When we know our spiritual selves, as well as we know the physical, the problem is already solved. All things are ours for the asking, when we ask with confidence and not "amiss".

THE NEW AWAKENING (Part III)

In the years that have passed since the foregoing events took place, everything that transpired has borne out the truth of that which was perceived and understood. That which is experienced by any individual will be tried in the test-tube of existence as to whether it is but an evolutionary step in the sequence of time, or, born as the fruit of fulfilled living. If the former, then it would be thought subject to additional change and as such, be dependent upon the following experience and additional knowledge. If it were due to fulfillment, it would prove itself to be one with the Source of everything that exists, seen or unseen; that Source which is the Changeless within that which changes, and the Sustainer of all that appears to be apart. It would reveal the Nature of man as he is in the Likeness of God.

Were the words, "Now is my kingdom" and "Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect", just empty phrases? Certainly they were not meant to be. They have within them the power of living reality for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see. A prevailing fallacy is, that one must die and pass from this earth in order to reach heaven as yet an uncertain destination. True teaching will point out, that the kingdom is "within';' that man is innately the Son of his Father and they are ever together as one in being. Throughout the ages, many have voiced the truth that "The witness is in life itself". Since man is the living symbol of the universe, then to know thyself is to understand the nature of the universe.

The capacity to bear witness lies at the core of all living and is symbolized in the field of religion as the Virgin Mother, the Pure Soul. Every era has had its Divine Mother and her Only-begotten Son, fathered by Spirit. It is the Triune Nature of man; the Nature of the universe through all its verities.

There is no such thing as one man being closer to God than another, excepting in awareness. Every man lives the "One Life". One awakened as the Conscious Son, lives freely within the union of the Father-Mother Principle, true Spirit-Soul Beingness. Another, while living the same life, struggles laboriously through the labyrinth of relative existence as it seems apart from spiritual existence. It is rightly said that every man shall see God, but only through the Spirit of Wholeness or the Holy Spirit.

Today, ministers and spiritual leaders have the greatest opportunity of all time to give the unadulterated Truth. They are faced with a double responsibility in that they not only have to live what they preach, but also have to face themselves in the feeding of the true Manna. Were we not told the "whosoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone be hanged about his neck" ?

In this changing world, humanity is no longer satisfied with religion dressed in robes of grandeur but is asking for something that has life and spirit. The question before every "man of the cloth" is-am I prepared to meet that challenge? It is a challenge that should be welcomed, The day is surely passing when the blind shall lead the blind.

The need today is for simplification in the approach to all things. It is in simplicity that Truth is found. Truth is simple; its "essence" is everywhere and instantly available-not apart. Knowledge gained through the

study of related parts tends to build a tower of confusion, for in multiplicity there is complexity. Acquired knowledge deals with related facts but only Love can make for completeness.

Can we believe that the "pure in heart shall see God", or is that too, just a false premise? Whether in the field of science or religion the answer is the same, "Excepting as ye become as a little child" (selfless, transparent), we cannot enter the straight and narrow way, the pointless point through which all action is sustained in equilibrium.

The chief argument against the possibility of man consciously entering the "Holy of Holies" seems to be that he could not remain in that point of "purity" while in his present physical body. That Omnipresent Point is already the reason he has a body or form of understanding. Within that is the substance of all form, whatever the content or rate of vibration. It is why diversity in unity is possible; that all things exist and in perfect relationship through whatever form, color, size or condition of being. It is the Word that is with God; the Word is God. It is the True Identity the First-born of every creature; the pre-existent Christ. Life in all its aspects is the embodiment of that which is the Word. The only error lies in man's lack of understanding, not in the power or the substance of his being.

Through all religions there i.e. the basic, never-changing truth that the "Lord our God is One God-One and Indivisible". In Genesis are found these words, "In the beginning God ... The spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters ... God saw the light and it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light day and the darkness He called night, and the evening and the morning were the first day . . . God said, let the waters bring forth abundantly every living creature after its kind ... Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, the fruit after its kind, whose reed is in itself and it was so . . . The Lord God made the earth and the heavens and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb before it grew.

Isn't it clear to the religionist and the scientist as well, that everything is brought forth from within that which already it? Is it not apparent that there is orderly sequence in that which unfolds and in that which seems to be divided? In division there is relativity-time, space and dimension. The nature or identity of every thing is expressed or perpetuated through what we call growth or expansion. Take for instance the kernel of com. The seed placed in the soil is aided by the warmth of the sun and the sustaining

elements of the rain. Within the cycle of growth, the seasons have provided the necessary climatic balance. Again, the mature fruit has with in it, the roots, the leaves, blossoms and seed for future trees and fruit. The inherent nature is changeless but through its many and varied forms, it appears and reappears to reveal the perfection of life in every part of itself as in the whole.

It is observed from the foregoing that several factors contribute to the growth of the plant. It is not only dependent upon the inner "germ", but upon all that which works together through "divine necessity". Does one give much thought as to how the food is assimilated and converted into the elements which make up blood, bone and tissue?

In like manner the same power flows through every act, word or deed, converting all into perfect consciousness. That "center" is everywhere; at every point through which life expresses itself. Nothing is added, nothing subtracted from the perfection of life as it is.

Through continuous absorption and expansion, all things are sustained in perfect unity. That eternal Truth is evident when man consciously lives the "substance" or mature fruit of being. Is there ever a time when it can be said that we are not one with everything that is? God alone can give or take life; man is the very substance of that giving and taking. "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea."

In Ecclesiastes, the Preacher expressed so accurately the Principle as it applies to the law of growth or unfoldment, by stating: "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the sun . . . " Then he brought out in unmistakable terms the fact that God is all there is, by continuing: "I know that whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever; nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it . . . That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past".

Yes, there is something to be understood about that which is the "past", as well as that which is termed "present" and "future". That which "is", is that which "was" and evermore "shall be". Has not every one had the experience of having lived through something that was not understood at the time they were caught in a mesh of circumstances that seemed insurmountable?

Decisions were made based upon what was considered paramount at the time. This was usually a matter of choosing between what seemed to be, opposing opposites. This resulted in friction. Perhaps years later, in retrospection, it was suddenly made clear-the meaning of all that took place. Understanding dawned and one exclaimed, "Now I see! Now I know!' Everything that pertained to the situation was swallowed up or absorbed within the "now" and no longer dependent upon time or relative differences. Likewise, the meaning of "death being swallowed up in victory."

WORLD REPORT

Inter-Planetary Bonds Urged by Believers in Flying Saucers

(From Alhambra (Calif.) Post-Advocate, Sept. 30, 1959)

(Note: Although this article is over a year old, it stands as probably one of the best newspaper stories ever written about Understanding.)

EL MONTE-Daniel Fry views mankind as a group of builders pushing forward with a towering, materially scientific structure-paying little attention to the social science foundation of the building.

Fry is the national president of Understanding-an often ridiculed, but rapidly growing organization for the promotion of understanding between people of this earth and other planets.

The initial unit of Understanding was founded in 1956 in El Monte, explained Art Kloepfer, current president of the local chapter.

Although the Understanding units have received vast publicity for their belief that people do exist on other planets and that this earth must prepare for mutual understanding with them, Fry stressed that the purpose of the group is also to establish common bonds between the peoples of the various nations of this planet.

Author of three books on unidentified flying objects, including the "White Sands Incident," Fry explained, "Astronomers are willing to admit there are one million planets in other galaxies capable of producing life such as ours."

"However, when faced with reports on mysterious flying objects,

these same men will not admit the objects could be from other worlds," he continued.

Today, there are 22 (now 41) chartered units of Understanding in three countries of the world, with individual members in other countries, for a total membership of 500 (now 1100).

Fry, who does research for a missile parts laboratory in the Valley, firmly believes that explanations refuting the flying saucers don't correspond with the data of pilots and observers who have seen the objects.

"I've personally had two sighting myself," Fry said referring to the White Sands incident in his book, and another time between Baldwin Park Blvd. and Azusa Ave., in the East Valley.

"Most generally," the scientist feels, "sightings have been of unmanned vehicles. However, there definitely have been landings and communications with this planet."

Although he has no blueprint for procedure in communicating with beings from other worlds, he said, "we would be best off if we would accept any advice they could give, since they're probably more advanced than we are."

However, until consistent and permanent bond are set up between this planet and others, Fry and Kloepfer concur that Understanding is primarily concerned with establishing adequate communications and understanding on this planet.

Fry said he has received more than 8000 letters since the first unit was founded, showing the interest and need for earthly bonds. "Actually," he said, "No one knows how the average John Doe of France feels about a world situation, for the average man in the United States has very little communication with those abroad."

He feels Understanding, like any new movement, must start small, as it has, but will continue to grow.

Fry places his group on a par with international service clubs, which he feels have done much to maintain friendship among nations.

"The progress material science has made in these last 30 years equals the advancement of the previous 100 years; and that 100 years is equal to the 1,000 years before that," Fry explained.

"We must redevelop the social sciences at a comparable rate," he emphasized, "and we can start by using funds now going for the construction of weapons we dare not use."

Four States See Mystery Sky Flash

TEXARKANA, Tex., Sept. 15, 1960 (Associated Press)-What some observers described as an enormous bright flash in the sky was seen early Wednesday in northeast Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. A Texarkana policeman said he was picking up his newspaper on his front lawn at 4:40 a.m. when the flash occurred. He said the light was bright enough for him to see words of his newspaper in the predawn darkness.

The Texarkana civil defense said the flash was seen in Texas at Marshall, Dallas, and Texarkana; at Arkadelphia, Ark.; Monroe, La., and Oklahoma City.

The strange sky light seemed to be moving eastward.

Scores See Giant Fireball Crossing Sky

(From Los Angeles (Calif.) L.A. Times, Sept. 13, 1960)

Scores of persons from widely scattered points in the Los Angeles area last night reported seeing what appeared to be giant fireball hurtling through the sky.

"It was brighter than the brightest star," said the Rev. J. Bond Johnson, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, who said he first saw the object at 10:06 p.m.

Mr. Johnson was driving at the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Rodeo Rd. when he saw the fireball appear from the southwest above 30 deg. from the horizon and burn out 10 seconds later over Malibu after hurtling in a northwesterly direction.

"It looked like a giant sparkler and big orange chunks seemed to drop off as it passed by," Mr. Johnson added. He said its speed seemed to be that of a passing jet plane.

Fireball Reports Requested

(From Pasadena, Calif. Star-News, September 16, 1960)

The California Institute of Technology wants to know more about those fireballs reported seen in California Monday and Tuesday nights and over the Midwest Wednesday night.

Dr. Harrison Brown, a geophysicist studying meteoritic visitors from outer space under a government contract, yesterday issued an appeal for letters from all persons who saw the fireballs.

He said he is especially interested in hearing from persons in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Fresno, to help determine the direction the Monday and Tuesday night fireballs took from this area.

Planets May Not Welcome Space Men

LONDON, Sept. 28, 1960 (Associated Press)-A spokesman for the British Flying Saucer Society said today that before the Soviets-or anyone else-try to put a man on a planet they'd better get the planet's permission.

"We've been informed by the cosmic masters," said William Mayhew in an interview, "that earth men will not be allowed to land on other planets."

Mayhew, a lawyer, and 700 other members of the society have been attending Britain's first National Flying Saucer convention.

During their two-day session in London they said they established contact with a spokesman on Mars through one of their officials, George King.

King went into a yogi trance and said a Martian spoke through him. He recorded the message purportedly from Mars. The message-apparently directed at the leaders of East and West-was broadcast through the convention hall.

The delegates listened in a respectful silence as the "master on Mars" said: "Unless much ground is given by both sides alike ---

Here the spokesman was interrupted by what sounded like a very earthy cough. Delegates were unable to say if the cough was King's or the Martian's.

"If you go on as you are at the moment," the voice went on, "fostering suspicion, arguing and boasting about your latest weapons, then a conflict will most surely come."

The voice said the conflict would take place between 1963 and 1964.

From A TRIP IN THE NIGHT

SEEKER OF THE LIGHT, you are well on your way, having reached the station of the God of Power, of whom it is my privilege to be envoy.

In our objective of gaining power, it is well to know the elements concerned. First is Spirit, which not only penetrates every atom of the so-called physical, but also interpenetrates the minutest part of all substance, whether it be solid, liquid, or gaseous. In fact, it is the force in which the thought pattern is wrought, from which substance takes its various forms. We are the only projector and coordinator of these various patterns that substance assumes.

Power is the manifestation of the ACTIVE principle - God. Since I AM is the full activity of God, then this power lies in understanding I AM. Stop for a moment, and just think of the ALLNESS of God or Primal Cause, with no beginning and no end, with universal scope, and then merge ourself in this. As we become faithful, and merge ourself into oneness with this, and this alone-ONE GOD, ONE ALMIGHTY PRESENCE, I AM, we will find that the vibration of our power will change from the finite to the power of God, the INFINITE. Hence the understanding of what 'I AM' means is the foundation of our power.

I AM is the acknowledgement of conscious awareness of BEING, the God Consciousness is the awareness of BEING GOD. With this as our source of power, and the understanding of the principle of its use, there is positively unlimited power unleashed.

Thought is the mediator between God-your own God self-and every circumstance of outer manifestation. Every desire, which is the birth of manifestation, must be couched in terms of thought to become potent with potential power for its full and complete attainment. It prepares a focus for centralization of energy to carry out the specific objective. This comes through the careful and scientific cultivation of the SELF OF GOD attitude.

When we practice looking immediately to the God-Self within to produce perfection in every activity, we will just as immediately be united with Divinity, and so will find the power of Divine Love pouring out over any situation to cement it into reality. A fearless, free recognition of spirit as the only power through Divine Law to be recognized and proclaimed,

when understood and applied to every act of living, will transform the individual into a radiant God Being. It will usher in the Kingdom of Perfect Activity-truly a heaven on earth. Then the vibratory action of our own body is raised to greater power possibility by seeing PERFECTION for all every one, everywhere, all the time.

By thus fixing our thought and attention steadfastly on God and Divine Perfection, we can raise the vibrations of our body to blend so harmoniously with those of Divine Perfection that we are absolutely ONE with Divine Perfection. In this manner, we are One with God and God Power. This gives us the power to so influence the vibrations of the bodies of others with whom we come in contact that they will see the Perfection we see. Any seeming imperfection in their body will as certainly respond to this vibration and manifest perfection.

It is in this way that we come into divine inheritance as God Beings and find we have the power to free ourselves, to forgive our own errors, and every error of the whole family through our attitude of thought, word, and deed because of the vibrations released. These vibratory activities find lodgment in every receptive heart, whether they be consciously aware of their divine nature or not-even across the Universe. It is not unnecessary to contract them, nor see them, nor even to know them. The raised vibrations enter their Being and create an urge within the heart center of the individual to respond. `And I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men to me.'

Once having chosen to shape our thoughts along definite lines toward perfection, we soon find we are sustained by Omnipotence Itself, and we find that, as we go through the discipline necessary to assure our selves of mastery, we have the power to free ourselves and our fellowman from bondage through the process of Divine Thinking.

This is a simple reduction of a great idealism to a practical manifestation. As we understand it and use it, we will soon see that we are fast approaching a period in which we are constantly manipulating unlimited power. Then we will know that thought is the most potent agency in the Universe for creation. Thought-God Essence; Thought Energy God Energy; Thought Power-God Power.

We can compare, in our own thoughts, what the extent of the power of the individual would be were all the attributes of True Spirit, GOD WITHIN, dominated our every thought, feeling, and action.

It is readily apparent that those who have followed steadfastly the true ideals of life which they have perceived as coming directly from the God Self Within, thus connecting God inseparately with the individual, have made the greatest progress toward nobility of character, purity of soul and spiritual grandeur of life.

We are both the POWER and the EXPRESSOR of power. We are the sole determining factor of that which our words, feelings, and actions shall carry with them on their journey across the infinite.

Thought, as a power, does not travel. It is already there. All we send is the QUALITY and this quality must BE the quality of our OWN conscious awareness. To see this fact is to lift ourself into the consciousness of THIS FACT, and to see it for everyone is to lift everyone into it.

Know, then, that there is no more power outside ourself, that we now are within ourself, for we cannot be a part of God; we must be ALL of God. There is nothing RELATIVE in BEING, all is COMPLETE.

Man sets about seeking power when all life is power. The greatest power in the universe rests within the breast of each individual unrealized, while that individual, in his life trek, searches longingly in divers places for extraneous power in order to enjoy things-riches, station, authority. Hearts are broken, health ruined, and homes and love sacrificed in this mad scramble for power. All because it is the wrong interpretation put on the Life urge within the heart. With the emphasis on the EGO, the real source of power has been confused in the multiple exertions of social enterprise.

In all Cosmic Activity, the power to BE supplants the power to have. The One is the natural flow of life through omnipresent activity in conscious expansion of awareness; the other is but an over-emphasized error of human concept in which the real issue has been diverted into accumulation that ofttimes becomes unbearable.

Man has ever dreamed of touching the magic spring that would unlock to him the seemingly most desirable, while deep within his own heart lies the key that opens the barricade.

WITHIN THE URGE TO DO IS EMBEDDED THE POWER OF ACCOMPLISHMENT.

That urge is life demanding expression, and the expression is Life's manifestation. Proper manifestation will lead to Perfection of attainment, certainly.

Know this: True power lies ever in BEING. This is the fullness of life that cannot be augmented by having. Having is the natural inclusion of Being. Cosmic Power, which is another name for rightfully used God Power, is OMNIPOTENT, coursing silently through all life. It may express as control over a universe, as a glorious sunrise, as a star twinkling afar off, or as a cock's crow. Resolved into terms of man, it becomes IDEA. And this idea may be as magnitudinous as the universe which, when held in firm application, promotes PERFECTION.

The frail sprout that bruises easily under the heel can, by silent assiduous growth, rend asunder a rock of many tons weight. The tiny raindrop splashed upon the mountainside finds its way to the sea, and there becomes a formidable element. Both these followed a course. One up, the other down, but each was animated by a law of Divine Being that will become apparent to the thoughtful. The tiny sprout seemed insignificant under foot, but the great tree is truly magnificent. Drops of water assist in sustaining life, but the water power of great waves can crush unmercifully.

Hope that springs eternal in the heart of man is the spreading fragrance of the Flower of Being, which by careful tending can fill the universe.

Those who look for power outside themselves may perish in the seeking for they have severed their ONLY connection with their TRUE POWER SOURCE. The power that allows these words to be spoken and makes them audible to the ear is the same power that created the universe and sustains it.

Mark this well, then. EACH ONE IS AN INDIVIDUALIZED GOD, through which this creative ability courses NATURALLY to COMPLETE ATTAINMENT, governed by irrevocable, unchangeable laws that assure perfection. `Seek ye first the Kingdom' might well be spoken now to those who would become KINGS.

The foundation and facets of the JEWEL OF BEING have been given you in this step to greater conscious awareness - Divine justice in action; Purity of Purse and Purpose, seasoned and ripened by the sun warmth of Love, tempered finely by Wisdom. All these bring great power of attainment in the three-fold expansion that sustains perfection.

From Outer Space To You: Howard Menger

WE JOIN Mr. Menger on a journey and a new vista of understanding opens before our eyes. As we meet the Space People with him, as we see the sights he saw, as we note in detail the actions, purposes, personal appearances and advanced scientific and spiritual knowledge of these peoples, we begin to comprehend the meaning behind their visits, realizing these are not merely sightseeing visits but are for a very special purpose.

We come to know these, "Our Space Brothers", are here to serve and aid the peoples of Earth. They are attempting to elevate the mind of man from the materialistic to the spiritual. They come in Love and Brotherhood and are about "their Father's business."

BULLETIN BOARD

New Units

Understanding welcomes its newest unit, Helena, Montana, Unit No. 43, the first to be established in the state of Montana. President of the new unit is Lewis J. Clouse of 315 Ming, Helena. Ray Guthrie is vice-president and D'Elta C. Guthrie is treasurer and acting secretary.

New units also are forming in Oklahoma City, Okla., and Topeka, Kansas.

Williamson and Aho Lectures

Noted anthropologist George Hunt Williamson and Major Wayne S. Aho (ret.), two of the foremost lecturers in the field of flying saucers and related material, toured the west coast during October.

Williamson, speaking on the "New Quest for the Holy Grail" spent October in Southern California lecturing for a number of Understanding units and other groups. He will be in Northern California and in the Pacific Northwest during November.

The Williamson itinerary includes the following California stops: Turlock on Nov. 1, San Francisco on Nov. 3, 4 and 7, San Mateo on Nov. 5, Berkeley on Nov. 6 and 9, Santa Cruz on Nov. 10, Fairfax on Nov. 11, Sacramento on Nov. 12 and San Jose on Nov. 13. Interested persons should contact Marie Kinney, 1616 - 41st Ave., Oakland, Calif. for the locations of the respective lecture halls.

Major Aho also addressed a number of Southern California units during October and will head east during the month of November.

News of the Units

EL MONTE, Unit No. 1, has received a number of replies to the tape recordings sent out by its members to most of the other units in Understanding, and communication via tape between units is becoming more and more frequent. The first unit to respond with a taped message was Monterey, Unit No. 34. All units are cordially invited to send tapes to the unit project chairman M. A. Saxton, 3228 N. Syracuse, Baldwin Park, Calif.

VISTA, Unit No. 4, entertained both George King and George Hunt Williamson during October.

PASADENA, Unit No. 12, is sponsoring a class called "School of Thought" which is quickly spreading to other units and groups. The lessons, available both in mimeographed form and on tape, are being made available to all interested. These consist of material given to the Pasadena Unit by Hope Troxell, under instruction from the Masters on High, and correlated to specified texts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and other ancient records. Those interested may write to 315 E. Las Flores Dr., Altadena.

INGLEWOOD, Unit No. 15: "Space-Craft Today in the Light of Ancient Records" was the topic of a lecture given by Hope Troxell for members of the Inglewood unit recently.

TURLOCK, Unit No. 30, reports that one of its members, Mrs. Ethel Stevens, was interviewed on a local radio station following the most recent space craft convention at Berkeley, Calif. Mrs. Stevens was given an opportunity to present a resume of each convention lecture during the broadcast. Mrs. Stevens was the author of the fine article "I Attended A Space Craft Convention" which appeared in the July, 1960 issue of Understanding.

COMING LECTURES

Sat., Nov. 26: Daniel W. Fry, founder and national president of Understanding and author of "The White Sands Incident," "To Men of Earth" and "Steps to the Stars" will speak for the Inglewood Unit of Understanding on the subject "The Curve of Development" at 8 p.m. in the Business and Professional Women’s Clubhouse, 820 Java St., Inglewood.

Will and Evelyn Miller, authors of "We of the New Dimension," speak every Thursday evening at 1508 N. Wilton Pl., Hollywood, 8:30 p.m.
